WOW!!! This will be one of my longer reviews. First night, lying in bed my husband felt something on his arm and it was a roach. We killed it and went through the bedding and around the bed and didn't see anything else. 30min later I killed one of the beetles that looks like a brown lady bug. An hour after that he killed another roach on the wall. The next morning I killed a wasp that was on my shoe. As I sat at the small kitchen table I noticed a large dead water bug on the floor. There is a door between the bedroom and living area. On the 2nd morning my daughter came by and I closed the bedroom door with my husband still in there getting ready. I went to get my phone and couldn't open the door. I thought it was just stuck on the living room side but when my husband got ready to come out he couldn't. My daughter saw that the door had scratches like someone had already tried to pry the door open. She used a butter knife but couldn't get it open. She slid it to my husband under the door so my husband could try but he couldn't get it either. I called the front desk and they said someone would come up. 5min later I called again. I heard keys so I went to open the door but a lady walked in asking if we could get out. I told her my husband was locked in the bedroom. She tried using a butter knife as well to no avail. She left and said she would have maintenance to come up. Another lady came with a butcher knife and used the spatula from our room and was finally able to get it open. I went downstairs and wrote a report and Ian said he would give it to his manager. The next day no one had contacted us so I checked with the front desk. The next desk clerk said he would make sure the manager got my report. The 2nd day passed and still no one contacted us. The 3rd desk clerk said he would pass my report. Day of check out a 4th desk clerk said she again could do nothing but pass my incident report. She was very apologetic but at this point we are past her apology. We have checked out with no compensation and no contact from Management. With all that being said the hotel is centrally located to where we needed to go with plenty of places to eat and the mall isn't far. The breakfast was fine. The shining light was Creola (?). She is the one who was able to get my husband oit of the bathroom. She didn't work in maintenance but the kitchen and evidently anything else that needed to be done. Finally to conclude, my husband being locked in the bedroom could have been much more than an inconvenience. If there was a fire or health emergency this could have ended very differently. The fact that someone may have known because there were scratches on the door this was just plain unacceptable. There needs to be an inspection of this hotel so that no one is put in harms way. I didn't get a picture of the door 😞

First, I want to say that the night manager or desk person the night we checked in was really nice and accommodating, but she shouldn't have had to be so hands-on for us. Room #1 - The first thing we see is the couch cushion torn as we walk in. Go into the bathroom, and someone had used it and not flushed. Gross! Called the front desk and asked if the room had been cleaned because of this. They sent up keys to a new room. Room #2 - Couch intact, bathroom looks clean, kitchen floor filthy, turn down bed to check for bed bugs like I always do and bed sheets look slept in and there are hairs! Room #3 - manager had to go preview a couple rooms before she brought us keys and said the room would meet our standards. It was OK, bed was clean, no bed bug traces, bathroom appeared clean, kitchen floor was mostly clean, but someone should wash the windows because someone had spent time kissing ours and left lipstick lip marks in 4 places. Ceiling was also obviously patched in many places, so hopefully they'll fix that in renovations. Night 1 manager said that they are awaiting materials to start with their renovation. That would help a lot. The furniture definitely needs some help, the bed was well worn, at least on my side of the bed, and all the chairs and couch had some staining or dirt. The location was convenient to downtown without being downtown. Lots of food options a short drive away and very convenient to 10 & 12 for traveling to airports and other cities. Manager/ clerk was great, but her professionalism still didn't help me feel overall good about the stay. The dirty state of all 3 rooms means I wouldn't go back unless they were renovated and all other local options weren't available. Again, I do want to say she was a great employee, friendly and accommodating, and she should get recognition for trying to make up for housekeeping being bad.

Ok so I was not even going to leave a review but we booked two nights and our first night was fine. Bed was a little creaky but it didn't bother us too much. We slept in/stayed in bed until around 11:30-noon. Around that time we found a small roach in our bed. Note that we DISCOVERED this at noon. We quickly decided we were not comfortable staying here another night and went to take a shower. What do we find in there? Two more small roaches. We called the front desk and were put on hold for 30min before being transferred to someone whose responsibility this did not fall under. We were going to be discreet about this. We just wanted a refund on the second night. We weren't going to go up front and raise hell about a full refund. We just wanted that second night back and were willing to do it over the phone. Well that was no longer an option. We went to the front desk and were immediately subject to a game of 20 questions about why we didn't check out before 11am, why we didn't raise the issue sooner, etc. Because we didn't find this out until noon! And even when we finally got that point across, she was going on about how we aren't leaving them many options (ie move to a new room). I explained that if the sink or toilet was broken, sure that would be an option. But we found 3 small roaches within an hour. That doesn't bode well for moving to a different room. Ok so we're finally on the same page with the front desk person: we're not staying. She still had the audacity to insist we pay a $50 penalty for late check out! I was beside myself. We had a bad experience. Why are you waiving "rules" in our face. Again, we would have been justified asking for a full refund. We slept with roaches! We were meeting them halfway. We'll pay for the night we stayed. You refund us for the night we are not. I mean $50? Really? What difference does it make? We paid it because it just was not worth trying to get through to them. Congrats. You bought yourself this review.

To summarize: we tried to cancel discreetly after finding 3 roaches in our room. We only asked for a refund on the night we were not staying. We were met with "well our policy says this and that". We paid a $50 penalty for having the gall to leave a hotel with roaches. And above all, we did not hear a single apology. Just an all around shocking display of...
