We experienced a very disheartening encounter with an employee at the Doubletree by Hilton—Baton Rouge, LA location off Constitution Ave. The employee’s name is Hannah, and she reports being the manager on site tonight.
In essence, Hannah was rude, unprofessional, and expressed prejudice towards our team members within minutes of their entrance into the Doubletree.
After a long workday, a team member with our company entered the hotel to check-in —under the reservation that was made for him by the CEO of our company. The CEO was sure to list the team member’s name onto the reservation when booking; however, THIS was not sufficient for the hotel clerk Hannah...because she was VERY QUICK to reprimand our team member for not having a company credit card with his name on it. As far as I am aware, however, there aren’t many companies that provide credit cards to their employees with the employees names on them. (I wonder if Hannah has a Doubletree credit card with her name on it.)
Nonetheless, This rating is not given because our team member did not check-in to the hotel. After the treatment our team received, no one felt comfortable or accepted to stay at this location anyway.
This rating, instead, is a representation of the level of comfort Hannah had with yelling, rolling her neck, and pointing her finger while speaking to two hardworking, law abiding citizens—who so happen to be two African American men, one who has put his life on the line for this country several times.
I mean, even when I called the hotel’s phone line to ask Hannah a question, she was unprofessional. When asked about the hotel’s policy for check-in and to relay that the CEO would complete a credit card authorization form for our team member, one of Hannah’s responses to a question was, “Uh Huh”. I am aware that a master’s degree is not always required for front-desk hotel staff, but I had to pause for a moment to ask Hannah if she were meaning to say Yes or No in response to my question. She finally, sarcastically responded, “Yea”.
I mean, even when I called the hotel’s phone line to ask Hannah a question about the hotel’s policy for check-in and relay that the CEO would complete a credit card authorization form for our team member, one
I am not one to pull the race card, yet THIS EXPERIENCE WAS OBVIOUSLY about appearing the part. This treatment was obvious to all parties involved (Im sure even to Hannah). I hope Gary, the general manager, will investigate this encounter.
Because, From this review, my hope is that executive leadership at the Doubletree, Baton Rouge Constitution Ave location along with other hospitality professionals take away the message that—IT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE to be rude to people or express prejudice towards them, regardless of any preconceived biases we possess within ourselves.

Read moreI travel ALOT on business. I am an Hilton Honors member. I stayed at this property for an entire week during the last week of September. I had gone for dinner at a popular nearby steakhouse Sullivan's. I had worked a long day and had pretty much not eaten lunch so by the time I received my order, I really couldn't eat. I took 4 bites and I got it to go. My meal was $100 + tip. I thought I'd save it for dinner the next night. Well I was mistaken. I got back to my room after work, went to shower and my $8 body was missing. That triggered me so then I looked over to the bar, my nice Sullivan's gift bag that I carried my food in...GONE. I looked in the fridge my $100 steak dinner...GONE. I was LIVID! I called down to the front desk upset and explained everything. I told the front desk that I had proof of what my meal looked like because I posted on social media (date and time stamp) and sent a text to a friend (with date and time stamp) saying I couldn't eat it. I also told the front desk I had my receipt. I also told her that I don't use "Hotel Soap" because my body wash was gone. Really I can't use it for personal reasons. That night I didn't have a choice. I mean WHO DISCARDS (OR STEALS) PERSONAL ITEMS IN AN OCCUPIED ROOM????!!!!! The lady at the desk told me to bring my receipt down..which I did..on the way out to try and find dinner....I was told that the manager, Addeline, would be there the next morning before I checked out and the property would refund me for the money I spent. I spoke to Addeline and she knew about the situation. She informed me that she could only comp my room and I told her no because that was the company's money, this was my personal money that I spent. She said that she would speak with the General Manager who wasn't in on that following Monday about this. There was someone from housekeeping standing that came to the desk (I guess she heard about it) and went on to apologize to me and kept saying we're so sorry. On the way to the airport, I received a call from the hotel, it was Addeline saying to me that she had spoken to the GM and he agreed to mail me a Visa gift card in the amount of $100. I traveled the next week, came home and no gift card..the same for the following week...and the next..this week...still the same. I have been calling the hotel for 2 weeks asking for both Addeline and the GM..they are "never there". I have left multiple voicemails on both of their voicemails and still no return call..NOTHING. Needless to say..I have tried to work this out with the property. My next step is Corporate because as a Senior Level Corporate Manager myself for a very reputable company, THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. One thing about me, I don't give up easy and yes I will take this as far as I can for my $100 + items that was taken from. I work too hard to...
Read moreCheck in was really uncomfortable. Two agents working and I still had to ring a dumb bell to get someone to check us in due to what sounded like a bunch of women having a grand ol time in their office. We came down to move our 18yr old son to Baton Rouge the 2nd week of June ( 5th-8th) for school. The rooms were dim and tv didn’t work. Bed was comfy and the breakfast staff was very pleasant. We only stayed 2 nights out of the 4 due to our sons apartment being ready to move in. I did have an issue that I reported at check out and spoke to one of the managers about it in the morning after. The first night I was exhausted from traveling and did not feel well at all, so I went to take a nap not long after our arrival. I told my son to order door dash or see what they had to eat downstairs at the hotel restaurant. He is easy, so I didn’t worry. After my nap, I tried calling my son, who was sitting at the bar at what I assumed eating dinner. I came downstairs to meet him and only to find him drunk as can be. He had a margarita and a shot of Hennessy in a shot glass in front of him that the bartender served my 18 year old son. I heard Louisiana has relaxed liquor laws, but this was unacceptable. His wallet was still in the room, so he couldn’t have shown her any kind of ID if asked ( which he later confirmed the next morning). Now, I am not trying to get that young African American Bartender with the colored hair in trouble because it takes two to tango. It was just as much on him if not more. He made his bed and paid the consequences later when he was throwing up in the middle||If the night( 3 Hennessy margaritas?? And 2 additional extra shots of Hennessy, I see why he was throwing up) I can’t wrap my head around the fact that a babyface 18yr old young man, did not even get asked for any type||Of identification. I also can’t believe my son would be that careless and use such poor judgment. I surely hope that manager spoke with that young lady bartending as she assured me she would and that they didn’t tolerate that. Supposedly, they couldn’t serve food for some reason because of faulty kitchen equipment and that’s what his reason was for sitting and just drinking alcohol. I still never received the points to my husbands account as promised and it’s coming on 2 months. Manager can never be reached, but to be fair I do work out of the||Country mostly and spend a lot of my time for||Work on long flights and in small towns throughout Europe where coverage is minimal. I don’t even care about the points anymore as this much time has passed and I have enough already from my business travel, a...
