Feedback on Poor Dining Experience at River Rouge Bar – Baton Rouge Marriott Dear Marriott Guest Services, I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to share feedback regarding a disappointing dining experience I had this evening at the River Rouge Bar, located within the Baton Rouge Marriott. I arrived and was seated at the bar at approximately 8:50 PM. I placed an order for wings, Philly steak eggrolls, and a salmon entrée. Despite a relatively light crowd in the restaurant, my food did not arrive until 9:45 PM—nearly an hour later. During that time, I had to flag down Bryan, the bartender, on two separate occasions just to request a glass of water. His inattentiveness gave the impression that guests at the bar were not a priority. When my food finally did arrive, it was all served at once—appetizers and entrée together. While I understand kitchens can be unpredictable, this is not standard dining practice and diminishes the experience. I asked the young woman who delivered the food whether my salmon had been sitting under the warmer, and she confirmed it had. I informed her the salmon was cold and asked that it be reheated. When she returned five minutes later, the salmon was still cold. At that point, I asked to speak to a manager. Bryan told me the manager had already gone home for the evening. However, moments later, I observed a manager—Mr. Brian—emerge from the back. I approached him directly to ask why I had been told otherwise. As I began speaking with Mr. Brian, Bryan tried to intervene and say he had the situation under control. I made it clear that I wanted to speak directly with Mr. Brian. I explained the neglect I experienced while at the bar and the unacceptable quality of my meal. Mr. Brian did apologize for the experience, which I appreciated. However, the overall service and food quality fell far below the standard I expect from Marriott properties. I am a loyal Marriott Bonvoy member, and this experience was not reflective of the level of care and hospitality I associate with the brand. I share this feedback in the hope that the staff at River Rouge Bar receive the necessary training to improve attentiveness, communication, and food service protocols.

Decided to try this place with some out if town family. Made reservations as it was a Friday night. We were seated promptly. Our waitress was super sweet and very attentive. We ordered a dozen chargrilled champagne butter oysters. They were really good, different. Not the best we've had and there was no bread, which we missed. And they were rather pricey. But was nice to try something different. The grilled avocado was simply delicious!! I would eat this everyday! The buffalo shrimp was spicy but good. The firecracker shrimp lived up to its name, very yummy. The fried oysters and fries were yummy too. The fowl gumbo was good, little greasy and oily, but good flavor. The kids mac and cheese is really delicious!! Def not a mix, we all had some and wanted more! There are more things we'd like to try but the prices are a little high for a Marriott hotel restaurant. Was a great dinner, with great service. We might be back to try some other things, but not specifically for oysters.

Awesome experience dining here for it first time. Many have read my reviews of other restaurants and know I'm picky. Stinky's gets high marks in all areas. The restaurant was clean, the staff friendly and the food was on point. I had an oyster basket and my wife had the shrimp basket. Both were cooked to perfection with just the right amount of batter. My oysters were plentiful, served with a small container of coleslaw which was a different recipe than most places, it had pineapple, and was delicious (I wished there was more of it). There was also a generous portion of french fries that were an interesting cut, not too thin not too thick, also very good. We ordered a side of mac-n-cheese, which was a great move, best I've had in a restaurant in a long while. All-in-all, you can't go wrong here.

The impressive reviews led me to believe I’d have an amazing experience at this restaurant. It was quite the disappointment. On Friday, January 24, 2020, I attended a birthday dinner party...12 of us total. Arriving early, I attempted to check in and was told there were no reservations under the name of the person organizing the dinner party. I apologized believing I’d made a mistake. Turns out, it was an error on behalf of the restaurant. Once seated, the tab was taken care of for our entire group by our host throwing the dinner party... food and bar tab, gratuity, AND an additional tip BEFORE our food even came to the table. In my dining out experience, this has proven to motivate exceptional service for the remainder of the evening. This was not the case at Stinky’s Fish Camp. As food was delivered to the table during the evening, not one time did the waitstaff clear the table. More and more food arrived... on top of our dirty dishes. There was no one coming to refill water glasses, and guests who arrived a little later sat neglected far too long while different people from our group took turns flagging down our vanishing waiter. Several from our group expressed their dissatisfaction among each other but remained patient hoping the manager would take notice. Once we were ready to cut the cake and our table still hadn’t been cleared nor had we been given clean silverware to enjoy dessert, we alerted the manager who seemed oblivious that we were even there. It was pretty empty for a Friday evening for most good restaurants and we were the only large party present so our table shouldn’t have been so grossly overlooked. It appears as though the restaurant was insufficiently staffed to handle a large group which resulted in such subpar service. Embarrassing for Marriot in my opinion. At best, the food was decent but did not make up for the...

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ If I could give more than 5 stars, I would!

The Baton Rouge Marriott is absolutely gorgeous! From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with genuine smiles and warm welcomes from every staff member you pass, it truly makes you feel seen and appreciated as a guest.

We dined at River Rouge Kitchen & Bar inside the hotel, and it was just as wonderful. Service was quick, friendly, and engaged. Our server, Katherine, was an absolute gem! She was attentive without being overbearing, kept our drinks full, and made fantastic recommendations. It’s rare to find that level of care these days, and she made sure our experience was perfect.

And the food? Phenomenal!!! You always hear about how incredible Louisiana food is, and it’s absolutely true here. Every bite was bursting with flavor, and to top it off, we got to sample their frozen daiquiris (highly recommend trying them!). I ended up getting a sour apple and watermelon mix that was so delicious it makes you wanna smack your lips!

This place will leave a lasting impression, and we can’t wait to come back. Thank you to the Baton Rouge Marriott and Katherine at River Rouge Kitchen & Bar for making our visit...
