Wow. The room and hallway refurbishments have taken this place to a whole different level!
As long time DVC members, we’ve stayed at every DVC property. Boulder Ridge was always at the bottom of the list because rooms were drab, outdated, stale looking, and motel-esque. The hallway looked like something out of “The Shining” and I was convinced twins would be standing at the end asking me to play.
Well, the most recent refurbishment has now completely changed our opinion. The “new” rooms are modern and colorful (for rustic theming standards). Accents, furniture, curtains, walls, the new Murphy bed, and the cute decor really brightly tie the room all together now.
The hallways have been updated with much more colorful and fitting carpet, new light fixtures, and freshly painted doors. We were lucky enough to stay in a two-bedroom villa and it was spacious and clean.
Although it’s a separate building, Boulder Ridge feels seamlessly “connected” to the main Wilderness Lodge building. It’s an extremely short walk to the park buses. You’re also close to the Boulder Ridge busses and Geyser Point bar and grill. The boat to Magic Kingdom is a bit of the walk, but it also is from the main Wilderness Lodge lobby too.
Overall Wilderness Lodge is an excellent property to stay at, and with Boulder Ridge finally getting the love it deserves with a full renovation, this is truly now a wonderful...
Read moreSo we rented a one bedroom villa at Boulder Ridge. The ambience, location, theme, over the top wonderful. Lots of cozy wonderful little places to stay and sit, just overall a very nice place. Now the negatives, we rented DVC points, so we are not owners, but we have been previously. The first thing we noticed is that the disposal wasn’t working, after that we realize that we couldn’t open one of the kitchen drawers because the dishwasher blocked it, so you had to pull down the door to the dishwasher to access the utensils. Mildly inconvenient but a thing. Then we noticed that you couldn’t open the refrigerator door properly unless you moved it over to the side a little and then when you closed it, it was impossible to close the door all the way because they didn’t design enough room for the space. Last, but certainly not least, the water barrier on the shower fell off, we called maintenance and it took them four days, and at that point we were ready to check out, so taking showers was a challenge because the floor would get soaked. If I owned there I would be complaining...
Read moreWe had a 1 bedroom villa. The room is small as expected. The flow of the room was clunky and the workmanship was sub par, leading me to believe that quality control is lacking. The paint drippings and unmatching wall texture show they just rushed the renovations with lower standards. The resort itself is beautiful, and the service is great. The kitchenette station is poorly designed. The dishwasher blocks the silverware drawer from opening, and the refrigerator door opens backward because it doesn't fit right in the right space. The kitchen was adequate for our needs but on the lower end for any hotel suite. The beds and bedding were comfortable with plenty of closet space. The bathroom shower was small, and water pressure wasn't very strong. The shower door seals had gaps that allowed water to soak the floor every time the shower was used. I could complain about many little things that aren't Disney standards; but that's not my intention here. At the end of the day, we had a great time and the kids loved the stay. The major takeaway was...
