Positive: The staff was kind and helpful. Negative: Everything else.
We arrived at The Block on 1/17/25, staying in room 101. We were impressed with the modern looking renovation. The room appeared clean. We set our belongings inside and went out for the night.
Returning to the hotel at 11pm, I found water bugs crawling freely across the floor of our room. Finding roaches in a "newly renovated" hotel is completely unacceptable. I captured a bug and gave it to hotel staff in the morning.
The second MAJOR problem with our room was the complete lack of soundproofing in the building. WE HEARD EVERYTHING. Every time a door opened during the night, it sounded as if it were the door to our room. We heard the staying above us having sex. We heard a man talking on his phone while smoking a cigarette outside of the building. We heard people speaking all night long.
None of the other guests were being loud at all. They were doing normal things at normal volumes. The walls are just SO THIN it's as if they were all staying in the room with us. It made sleeping completely impossible and made us realize why earplugs are on the counter when you walk into the room.
The third MAJOR problem is my wife was bitten and/or reacted to something INSIDE OUR BED. The bed looked to be clean, but she suffered some kind of reaction all over her body which has now persisted over 12 hours since we left the hotel.
Do not be fooled by this hotel and its good reviews. It's A worthless decrepit building redone in a trendy millennial color scheme. And honestly, the painter didn't even do a good job. I would describe the painting as a landlord special. The only positive was the staff. They were very understanding and seemed to be well aware of the building's...
Read moreWe stayed back in July for a concert, while the hotel itself was nice and clean we have had no help since. I was double charged and have been trying to get a refund since our stay and nothing is being done. I’ve spoken to multiple different people and each time have been told something different. One told me to call Priceline (who we booked through) to get a refund from them. I called Priceline they said it would have to be the hotel since the second charge I received was directly from the hotel and not them. I called the hotel again and spoke to someone, they said they’d let their supervisor know and that I’d be receiving a call from them, never heard back from anyone. So I called AGAIN and they said the same thing, but this time the supervisor did call back a few hours later and said I was correct that I was double charged and a refund should hit my bank account within 24-48 hours. That was on 10/2 and I have yet to receive a refund. I called on 10/9 and left a voicemail with the number the supervisor called me from and haven’t heard back. I just want my money back and for someone to actually do something about this. It’s almost $200 that I’m out of pocket and I’m tired of this...
