Ropewalk Bethany Beach — Restaurant in Bethany Beach

We walked-in to Ropewalk at 5pm on a Saturday in August. Ropewalk does many things very well. But manage your expectations.

First, the staff was all very friendly and accommodating. It was our family of 5 and we were seated right away.

Most of the restaurant was large parties and every table seemed to be set up for a large party. We were seated promptly, the server took our order in a timely fashion, the food came out relatively quickly. All excellent stuff, and is not to be take for granted in a beach-town restaurant that is trying to server many, many large groups all at the same time. So great job Ropewalk.

Now, the manage your expectations part. The food is all pedestrian. Every item we had for dinner was out of a freezer. It filled our belly and was served hot. That's about the best I can say for the food.

I would not recommend Ropewalk. if you are looking for a great restaurant experience while on vacation.

But I would recommend Ropewalk for large groups with kids that don't want to spend 90 minutes at dinner.

The prices were what you would expect being in the town center. Our bill (2 adults, 3 kids - 2 ordered from the kids menu, and 4 alcoholic...

This place is the definition of a tourist trap. The location is great and everything else is just bleh, which makes it way overpriced.

We came to try the seafood offerings (scallops, crab, crabcake) and they were nothing special, but they're priced like they are special. There is far better seafood nearby that costs less.

The kids ate chicken fingers and fries, which were barely warm to start and cold after about 5 minutes. At least they weren't expensive.

In the middle of the meal a photographer came over asking to take some pictures for a postcard. Tired after a long day we said "ok, fine." She came back a few minutes later and tried to sell photos in a paper frame for $20 each. We're all for souvenirs, but this felt predatory.

Finally, service was slow and inattentive despite that we were the server's only table. We forgot a bag when we left and when we went back 5 minutes later to retrieve it, the table hadn't been touched (nor had the server noticed the bag).

I would eat here if things cost 50% less, but then of course the restaurant probably couldn't pay it's prime location rent. I'd avoid,...

First time coming here and I absolutely love the decor personally. I’m big into fish and I was blown away by the interior decoration here. Everyone was super friendly from start to finish! Our server was very attentive and very helpful when it came to making menu suggestions and just overall had a bubbly personality. We sat on the top patio which was spacious and inviting and also clean and you can still see the beach from here! The cocktails were delicious, I highly recommend the spicy margarita 🌶️ The food was also delicious, we got a crab cake sandwich, short ribs, and catfish and everything was so good! Portions were perfect too, we left full and content 😌 You know we went to another restaurant close by and we had to leave because no one ever came to our table, and we ended up here at Ropewalk and you really turned the mood and day around for us! Great service, great view and atmosphere, and great food and drinks! I hope we see you all whenever we come back to...
