Breakers Surf Shop located on Bethany boardwalk is profiling Asian customer. A relative of mine was followed as soon as she stepped inside the store. A female employee immediately signaling a male employee (assumed family members of shop owners) and both were kept their eyes on this poor lady until she noticed that she is being watched, while the shop was full with younger customers all of whom are white. We are second home owners in Bethany Beach for decades, we have spent money on every shops along the boardwalk for years, some shop’s owners knew us well… We had spent money for years at this shop when our children were young. My son bought a pair of rainbow flip flops that were to small. He took them home and found out that he needed a size larger. He called and was told to bring them back for an exchange. When we brought them back 2 hours later we were told that we could not exchange them as the dental floss plastic tie was not together and that the stores plastic binder gun was unavailable.

It was very upsetting for my son as he worked hard for the $60 to buy the flip flops only to be bullied into keeping the incorrect size and to be told that they could be exchanged...

Breakers Surf Shop in Bethany Beach is a MUST-visit for any Bethany Beach visitor! As a summer local and lifeguard this is by FAR my favorite surf shop in the area. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful, guiding you to the perfect gear/clothing for your needs. The store is well-organized and stocked with a wide range of high-quality clothing, shoes, sunscreen, and accessories.
