My kiddos and I stayed twice at this hotel, once on the way to AZ, and once on the way back.
The first time we had a nice Suite, which was well taken care of. There was extra bedding for couch bed where my son wanted to sleep.
The second time was a standard queen room since there weren't any suites available to book when I planned our trip. When the front desk clerk pointed out there was no couch in the standard room, I said that would be fine, and that I'll miss having the couch but we'd make do. That should have been the end of that, but then she added, "Well that's what you booked." Yes, im fully aware of what I booked, there were no other options at the time. I told her again it was fine, and we'd make do with the room we had.
The standard room was not as well taken care of, as depicted by the few spots of black in the tub, and the fist sized hole of paint missing on one of the walls. Also I don't care for the curtains that were in both rooms. Difficult to roll up for one with early onset arthritis, and just...weird. regular curtains would look so much better in their rooms, and easier to open/close.
The food at the breakfast buffet was standard. No omelets as advertised on their website pictures, just scrambled eggs. People leave the trays open and the hot food gets cold very quickly, so I'd recommend another heating element to ensure their food stays warm for everyone, not just the first 3 guests.
The biggest highlight though, was the shuttle service. C.J. was by far my favorite driver. Even though we got in at 10pm, he was there quickly to pick us up from the airport and take us to the hotel. He even called me beforehand because in my tired state I'd selected on the app to be picked up from terminal 2 and dropped off at terminal 1 instead of the hotel. Whoops.
When that was straightened out, we arrived at the hotel after talking about the heat in Arizona, the cold in Chicago, and the many, many different types of cacti AZ has to offer. It wasn't a long trip to the hotel, but it was filled with laughs and stories, much needed after a long day of travel. Thanks, C.J..
Would I stay at this hotel again? Yes, but Suite only for the extra bed and better quality rooms. It's worth...
Read moreWe were in town for a hockey tournament and picked this IHG property due to the fact that it was one of the pre-approved hotels. The reviews seemed ok enough. The room was ok nothing special, could use a little touch up. The staff was not friendly in the slightest down to the shuttle drivers. Nothing really to write about until it was the day of my check out. I called down the day of my check out at 130 am to ask for a late checkout. Asked for 2pm he said he could do 130 I said great that works! 1045(not even 11 which is check out) we are woken up by housekeeping, we advised him we had a late checkout, his response was "no English". 10 minutes later another knock, housekeeping again told this gentleman the same thing about checkout. Another 10 minutes later I get a call from front desk- good morning how are you? Check out is at 11 what time are you leaving ma'am. Proceed to tell her the same thing for the 3rd time now. How are they so concerned with when I'm leaving they bother us 3 different times literally all by 1115 am. Mind you checkout is 11. But they didn't seem concerned with the massive amounts of children running up and down the hallways all weekend. Screaming and knocking on people's doors at 1am. Maybe if the front desk employees weren't on their phones holding conversations or talking amongst themselves it would run a lot more efficient.
UPDATE: It's concerning that the solution to a problem within your team is to "ban" a guest. I wasn't the disruptive one nor was I the one being rude to your team. Also by chance I ever have to go back to Minnesota, I clearly would be picking another hotel. As someone who works for a hotel, I do have expectations that I hold myself to. I'm sorry your team fell short and this response is a direct reflection on this establishment. Have a...
Read moreI deliberately did not post yesterday because we were out enjoying life and all God has blessed us with our family at the Mall of America, and we stayed at the Holiday Inn Express. Wow, what a great staff they have there. Super clean rooms with every attention to all the details needed that equals great customer service and a great breakfast spread . It was not even the same thing the next day . Simply delicious ! Along with a shuttle service to the Mall of America and the airport, they treated us like kings and queens for a very reasonable rate, so much that we extended our stay. If you need a great place to stay, be sure to look this Holiday Inn Express up and tell Katie the General Manager that Cheesman sent you. You won't be disappointed.
