I had the pleasure of staying at the Executive Inn for a whole month in September 2017 after my house flooded. It was interesting! The front desk staff were always very friendly and helpful. I had to spend a while working with them to try to get my FEMA disaster assistance to kick in, and they were quite understanding about this. However, before FEMA started covering my hotel stay, the nightly rate I was paying, $80, was a bit higher than the $60 the hotel advertises on their billboard by the freeway. They even tried to raise my rate to over $100 per night, but I was able to negotiate it back down to $80. This is still very cheap for a hotel, but it felt odd that they were raising the rate in a disaster situation. The room itself was about what you would expect: not great, but more than acceptable if you need a bed to sleep in. Speaking of beds, I thought the bed in the room was pretty comfortable. That helped a lot to make up for some of the shortcomings. Housekeeping at least existed and replenished supplies like toilet paper but wasn’t particularly thorough in cleaning. This wasn’t a problem for me because I don’t need everything to be freshly cleaned every day, at least not in a cheap-o room. I did notice several cockroaches and/or other crawling bugs during my month-long stay, but that didn’t bother me too much. What bothered me a little bit more were the disturbances that happened. My neighbors in the next room over seemed to be having a shouting match at each other with lots of cursing one night around midnight. Maybe they were stressed out because they had just lost their home, but it was alarming. Even more alarming was another day when the Brookshire police department showed up, seemingly to conduct a raid or arrest someone in one of the units above mine. They started out shouting loudly and pounding on the door to announce their presence, and then it sounded like they actually kicked in the door. I’m glad there wasn’t a shootout, because I wouldn’t have wanted to be around for that. These two incidents were the exception, however, and most days at the Executive Inn were peaceful. I came to somewhat enjoy my temporary life in Brookshire, with the Flying J and Denny’s across the street being my usual hangouts. Don’t let the negative parts of this review discourage you too much. I think the Executive Inn proved that, overall, it can be a decent place to stay even for multiple weeks. I just hope I never have a reason to stay...
Read moreI have traveled extensively throughout my lifetime. This place is the most disgusting hotel I have stayed in. By disgusting I refer to the owner/manager as well as the room.||||I Booked my room on the Executive Inn web site and received a confirmation for one night at $53.39. When I arrived the owner/manager told me he didn’t receive a fax so I did not have a room reserved. I show him the confirmation email from HIS site and continued to mumble something about a fax. I asked if he had a room available he said yes. When I asked why I couldn’t get the $53.39 price as confirmed he started mumbling about the fax again. He told me it would cost $73.45. I cannot emphasize just how rude this man is!||||He gave me a key to room 104. I went to the room and the key would not work. Went back to owner/manager who reprogrammed the key. This is where it gets worse. Went back to the room, inserted the key, opened the door and saw a couple in bed. I said sorry, shut the door and walked away. The guest came out of his room alarmed and upset. I explained the owner/manager had given me a key to their room.||||Went back to the owner/manager, told him what happened and he nonchalantly mumbled something, gave me the key to another room and sent me on my way. The key worked but I did open the door slowly. This is where it gets disgusting. I immediately smelled mold, fungus, or mildew. Maybe all three! There were burn holes in the covers and comforter, bugs in the bathroom and mold on the ceiling. I have posted photos showing all of this.||||It was 1:00 AM so I didn’t feel like looking for another hotel or dealing with owner/manager again so I slept on top of the comforter in my clothes. I woke up at 3:00 AM and checked out.||||I will report this operation to the local health board and then to whatever entity operates Executive...
Read moreThe Executive Inn was a last minute pick on a budget, and I expected much less than I got! For starters, the property is lovely. The lawns are maintained, there's resort-like palm trees, a fountain, natural stone paved walk ways, pleasant breezeways between areas, and a central courtyard with a cookout pavilion. Our room was clean, smelled fine, no bugs, had a huge tv, and classy decor. Even the light fixtures were elegant and modern! If I had to nitpick, I'd be pressed to talk about things that are very minor or not the property's fault, such as road noise, noisy guests, mediocre pillows and towels, and so on. The area it's in is a little difficult to find (watch for the big sign on the main road, and ignore your gps), and the nearby highway and gas station doesn't look pretty, but on site? Everything was great. It was like a little escape tucked into the town. Check in is generously early at noon, and checkout wasn't until 11, and leeway like that is always so helpful for traveling. Their housekeeping staff must be on the ball in their one hour! Last but not least, there were fresh donuts for breakfast in the lobby, no time restriction. We walked up just before checkout and ate, no rush to get out of bed in time for breakfast hours. All in all, I plan to save this place on my go-to hotel list for...
