They were doing construction on the lobby, during the Thanksgiving holiday, when we were there. The lobby was dusty, there was noise early in the morning and pretty much all day from jack hammering, and most of the lobby and restaurant were inaccessible the whole time we were there. They were also doing carpet cleaning throughout the building and there was a corresponding unpleasant odor in all the hallways, and there was a large hose in the hallway on our floor the whole time, that you had to deal with when walking to and from the elevator.
There was no breakfast service on the morning of Thanksgiving, and apparently they never have a free breakfast. We could have ordered breakfast on Friday morning, but we would have had to wait in the dusty, noisy restaurant, so we passed on that. When we arrived Wednesday evening, room service wasnt available for some reason.
The TV in the room was Direct TV and even though the skies were completely clear on Wednesday night and Thursday all day, the TV would cut out for 1-10 seconds at a time regularly. It made watching sports or news or pretty much anything else really annoying. Nit picking here, but the battery door for the TV remote was broken so it would fall off all the time.
The room was ok. The refrigerator have a completely full drip tray undercthe small freezer compartment that when bumped with my hand spilled a bunch of water onto the stuff I had in the fridge under it. The shower was annoying to use because it had a finicky mechanism to angle the showerhead where you wanted it, and half the floor of the rest of the bathroom was soaking wet after a short shower. This happened with the shower curtain fully drawn and it happened after every shower, so it wasnt a fluke. The floor isnt properly laid out to prevent it from flooding the whole bathroom. There was no maid service while we were there Wednesday night and Thursday, so we used all our towels just to soak up the water. We had to go down to the lobby to ask the person at the front desk for more towels and since she might have been the only person working in the hotel (other than the construction workers), it took 10 minutes for her to get them from their laundry area. The last thing about the room was that the blackout shade for the window didnt roll up. You had to throw it up over the top of the valence.
The staff were nice if a little aloof to our concerns. That may have just been due to not really being able to do anything about it. It was clearly the decision by ownership to do construction during a busy Thanksgiving holiday (the parking lot was full, and there seemed to be a lot of people staying at the hotel), and to understaff the hotel during the holiday, that caused most of our concerns.
Edit: I forgot to say, 1 of the 2 elevators was out of service and I never figured out where the stairs were. I looked for, but couldnt find, a floor diagram showing the fire...
Read moreVisiting from NC, the hotel is located in a nice area with stores and chick fil a near. The experience was by far the worst I’ve ever had ANYWHERE. From checking in till my end of the stay. If you can avoid staying here please do. I hate leaving bad reviews but I’ve never wanted to run out of somewhere so bad in my life. When checking in we were left at the front desk for 10-15 minutes alone because the lady didn’t have what she needed to check us in. When we got to the room it appeared clear but the smell was a very strong musty feet smell. Not to mention our room keys barely worked anywhere. We kept getting locked out of our room and the building. Our reservation was for 3 and our room had 2 sets of towels in it. When I asked for another set for my child they never came even the next day. So when the maid knocked on the door I asked for towels and she gave me 3 towels with yellow stains on them. And didn’t have any rags / face towels. She said she would come back with them and never came back. The walls are extremely thin. PLEASE PLEASE!! don’t come here if you have children. They came banging on my door because my child was crying at 8/9pm due to him being sick. Even tried to push my door open being very aggressive after I already said I’m trying to calm him. You will hear everything in this hotel even people getting in and out the shower etc. and if you even breathe it will be a problem here. The staff is not friendly they won’t even speak to you at all unless it’s for a complaint. The tv didn’t work in the room the fridge doesn’t get cold the list just goes on and on and if you are bringing guest and HAVE to stay here please get them their own room or blow up bed the couch bed is extremely uncomfortable and quite literally looks like a tan piece of toast. & the elevator has a strong raid or chemical bug smell. & gave us a conjoining room with a stranger. Out of everywhere I’ve been in my life this is the worsttt experience I was very excited to stay here such a waste...
Read moreThis place is a dump! I started in room 626. If you get this room, RUN! The scuffed, chipped door and furniture told me immediately that the room was probably the most outdated room in the hotel. Very little lighting and all very dim so quite a dark room on an overcast, rainy day. There was a spot on the wall where the thermostat had clearly been ripped out. After my first night, I discovered the carpet in front of the A/C unit was drenched. The A/C was leaking big time. Instead of sending up maintenance, they sent up the guy from the laundry room. What was he expected to do?
I got my room changed and was told I'd receive a discount for the first night + rewards points. At least the staff made an effort to make things right and that's the reason I added the second star. I appreciate their efforts. However, room 306 is almost as outdated. Scuffed, chipped, torn furniture. There is a thermostat on the wall, but it does not work. And lighting is only marginally brighter. The charging cubes in the room - why are they all sticky? It's gross!
Breakfast buffet - $15 for the kind of buffet that's no additional charge at other hotels. Kind of expensive, especially if you get it to go. Not sure what would have happened if I tried to come back for seconds. The water cooler in the fitness center doesn't work. The water fountain in the hallway stopped working on Sunday. This hotel needs some serious upkeep and renovation.
UPDATE 5/1- I deducted a star for service. When I checked out this morning, I looked at the final bill to see if the promised discount had been applied. It had not and I had to ask about it. So while the staff are friendly and courteous, their promises are empty. Remains to be seen if they made good on the rewards points.
UPDATE 5/11 - Guess what? I checked my Bonvoy account and not only did this hotel NOT honor the extra rewards points they promised , I haven't even been credited the regular points...
