I have stayed at this hotel several times, and I believe it's decent value for the cost. While the hotel maybe older, and showing signs of wear, you can tell they do try to keep up with renovations.
The staff is polite and helpful, and all instances that I've needed assistance, checking in and checking out. They know the local area and are capable of offering suggestions.
I cannot offer an opinion on the capabilities of their housekeeping staff, because I always leave my do not disturb sign up. I do not want people entering my room while I'm staying at a hotel unless I'm there. I can stay upon checking though that the room was clean, The sheets were free of hair or anything that would lead me to concern, and the towels for fresh. That's all I really ask for. I was placed in a non-smoking room and the room is to not smell of smoke. The temperature is comfortable upon entrance of the room. I am satisfied.
I do take some concern with the morning continental breakfast. There are your average Staples, fruit, rolls, and muffins. Ages to Spencer, and a pancake and waffle maker. Something that might be egg is also offered, upon inspection I choose not to try them. Definitely doesn't look right. What are the major concerns early in the morning is that the continental breakfast area is packed. There are a lot of people in the room, and there's no where to sit. If the breakfast is an available until 6 AM, but between six and 6:30 AM but there are a lot of truck drivers that are waiting to get a shuttle to their company. It would be nice if this hotel offered breakfast at 5:30, and allowing people more time to be able to get breakfast. Maybe some tables in the lobby area as well so more people could sit down. It's a very cramped space and not an enjoyable experience.
In the nearby area there is a Cracker Barrel, a Chinese buffet. The area is not pedestrian friendly, so if you're willing to walk down the shoulder of a road for a little bit you can get to a Walmart and additional shopping opportunities.
All in all I feel that this hotel is good value for the dollar spent, and will return in the future. Just wish the morning breakfast Area offered more room for people. Maybe if they opened up a meeting or guestroom and made that room exclusive to all those truck drivers there of the regular room for the...
Read moreOur first night there the rooms tv remote did not work, nor was the fridge was working. I went to check in to see if the girl would have batteries and she kept asking if I knew where they were cause she kept insisting I worked there…I went back upstairs after I got new batteries… I tilted the fridge to see if it was plugged in and THOUSANDS of ants dispersed all over the room. I went back downstairs and the girl had no idea how to change us to a new room so she just took a room key and gave it to us. Fast forward to Sunday morning, this all above listed happened Friday late evening early Saturday morning. Then Sunday happens and we are showering and packing up, I find a BED BUG in the bathroom on a towel that was wrapped around my head. It was a big juicy one too with a lot of someone’s blood. We check the bed and the corners of the bed were all black dirt from the bed bugs. We move my stepdaughters sheets around and bed bugs on her sheets. I went immediately down to the desk and complained about the bed bugs. The manager gave us an instant refund. We check out, we’re upset and grossed out. Fast forward about 30 minutes and we are still in the parking lot loading up all of our vehicles to come home and I get a call from the hotel stating my stepdaughter left a necklace in the room. I walk back and the manager meets me outside. He told me how guilty he felt and how sorry he was. He admitted to me the girl from Friday night PUT US IN A QUARANTINED ROOM THAT HAD BED BUGS. So Friday night, all day Saturday and Sunday morning we were forced to be with bedbugs when the hotel KNEW THE ROOM WAS IN QUARANTINE.
I seriously need a phone call from corporate. This is extremely unacceptable...
Read moreFirst, we couldn't even get into our room (306) when we went upstairs. After trying both keys unsuccessfully, I had to go down and ask for help from the front desk. I was told that the door would "stick" sometimes because of the heat and that I "had to work with it for a while" to get the door to open, then the night manager/person came up and jiggled the handle until she was able to get it to open. One of the keys wasn't working at all, so I went and got two new keys and had my daughter watch from the inside as I tried to get in -- both keys showed a green light (meaning they worked), but I couldn't get the door open at all, and I wasn't going to jiggle the door handle from the hallway andd disturb other people who were near us, so I had her open the door and just stayed in for the night.
The second problem occurred when my daughter went to take a shower -- the bathroom door would not close and lock completely. The door and the lock are obviously misaligned, which should be looked at.
The third issue was the size of the pillows on the bed. There were 4 pillows on the bed (which I don't mind), be none of them were 'standard-sized' pillows. They were all very small -- I had to use 3 of them just to be able to sleep.
My fourth issue, while minor, is that there were no cartons of milk available for breakfast. I saw the pitcher of milk, but that's not what I wanted because I had no idea what kind of milk it was (1%, 2%, whole, skim) or how long it had been there.
I did appreciate the premium parking space for Choice Hotels Platinum and Gold members. The hotel was convenient for our stay, and it had both a microwave and a...
