Everything about the hotel was great! At least until the last night of our stay were everything went downhill and crashed and burned.
We had planned in May that me and friend would be staying there from July 1st to July 5th, but keep in mind, this wasn't our first choice of hotel, oh no. My mother was talking to one of her friends that works at this hotel and this friend suggested that she could give us a fantastic discount on a room! We weren't planning on staying too long but at this new price (50 dollars a night, what a steal!) we decided we would stay 4 nights and really just enjoy ourselves.
The first 3 nights went by swimmingly, the rooms were well air conditioned and the room service was quick to get what they needed to get and leave. But then suddenly we get a knock on our door. A blonde woman was standing there telling us that my friend (Who was paying for the room while I payed for food and other such things) had their card declined...
Now, it was our understanding that he paid the 200 dollars up front and we no longer had to worry about any money, but now this? He didn't have any money left in his account because this was the last thing he planned on doing before getting his next paycheck. They tried to charge his account without even telling us first! In fact, instead of telling us, the customers, this family "friend" called my mother and discussed the fact that they needed more money because apparently this discount she claimed was discussed with her boss a month and half prior was bogus and never happened and not only that they told her that they had taken our room key with the intention of kicking us out! All of this was a lie as we had not been contacted at all up to this point and it worried her absolutely sick, almost prompting her to hop in her car and coming to check on us personally because they were no longer accepting her calls. We were told the room price went up from 50 a night to 70 a night. No big deal, my mother was happy to pay the extra 80 dollars.
Here come the next day when we planned on leaving. After last night there was a sour taste in our mouth about the whole deal so we just wanted to be back home. My mother came to pay the extra part of the bill. But when she came back and we started to leave she tells me that she had to pay not 80 like we figured, it was actually $144! The room apparently went up quite in value from their estimation last night at 70 dollars, so okay, yet another lie.
On top of this, after my mother asked why the room got more expensive there was suddenly allegations thrown around about my friend spinning tires out in the parking lot? Basically everyone involved that wasn't hotel staff concluded that this statement was in fact false and slanderous. The bill my mom was given looked very confusing and didn't really add up at all so we are sitting here wondering if we weren't literally robbed in broad daylight by the reception staff of this place!
My mother asked "Do you think (The friend who said she could get us the discount) is going to get fired for this?" a complete and total disaster of a situation. "No, I dont think she is!" she gets as a reply, everyone there seems completely hunky dory about the situation. It was absolutely infuriating that my friend, who was nice enough to pay for us for a good week of fun together, tried to get shafted so hard by having his bank account emptied stealthily by these thieves running this place. He was lucky he filled his gas tank the night before or else he might of been stranded without a single penny to pay for gas!
Not only should the woman in question who tried to sell us on this bogus deal pay back the money personally to my poor mother who just wanted to get the situation over with, she should absolutely be fired and prevented from trying to swindle money out of well meaning customers AND EVEN FRIENDS ever again.
Will never be coming back to this place ever again for as long as I live, and no reccomendations will be had. Bunch of con artists
UPDATE!! They took another $166 dollars from my friends...
Read moreNightmare stay at Baymont in Cave City. To preface, I have never written a poor review in my life, but this hotel is beyond deserving.
Upon arrival in the first night our room (126) appeared clean, however as it became nighttime there were several spiders crawling along our walls and beetles all over the edges of the carpet in the room. We called the front desk and requested a room change but they were booked out. After calling every single hotel in a 10 mile radius we came to the conclusion that we have to stay in the room. The following morning we were given a new room (209), which we had access to before the normal 3pm check in. While we were told it was cleaned and ready, bedsheets were not on the bed, toenails on the ground, tampons in the trash, and dead bugs everywhere. We were told to come back after 3 and we did, only to find a “cleaner” room with the bugs still riddled throughout the carpet. All while this nightmare of room changes was underway, we were charged an additional $97 by mistake. We continued to talk to the helpful front desk but they had no power to help us without a manager present. We were told time and time again that we would receive a call from the manager (Wendy Hawkins) and never did. After speaking to the front desk yet again we were given the number of the manager. We called twice and no answer, and at 9pm she calls our room. The manager (Wendy) would not let us get a word in and denied any extra charge, told us that nobody said she’d call, threw her staff under the bus, and once again stated she would not help us. She said to get a new hotel if it’s so bad. Eventually she said she’d be in by 11am the following morning so we waited until then in the morning and the manager did not show up. Wendy the manager was on the phone with the front desk lady and threatened to call the cops on us because we wanted to discuss reimbursements for this awful stay. Eventually we left and opened a case with corporate because it was not worth elevating the situation because the manager is never present.
If you are planning on staying in Cave City avoid this hotel at all costs!!! Don’t let old reviews fool you, this hotel has awful management, bugs, and an incapability to...
Read moreI was visiting the area with a Boy Scout Troop from Ohio during the weekend of July 21-24, 2016. We visited Mammoth Caves and Diamond Caves as well as Dinosaur World and the National Corvette Museum. I decided to get a hotel room with another Scout mom because of the high temperatures and because I am struggling with several health problems. Tent camping is a bit difficult for me right now. I still wanted to participate, so a hotel helped with that. I read several of the reviews before calling to book a room. Almost all of the reviews were very negative, but I thought a lot of what they said was very petty. So I decided to book with Baymont Inn anyway. I was extremely pleased with my stay at Baymont Inn in Cave City. The price was reasonable. The room was clean and recently renovated. The furniture and carpet was new. The bathroom was roomy and the bathroom floor was new. The wall hangings were beautiful and the beds were comfortable. I would just like to suggest that they get new blankets as the blankets on the beds were very ratty looking, but the bedding was clean. It would have also been nice to have a channel guide for the TV. The shower head also quit spraying water a couple of times, but we just turned it off and then back on and it worked fine after that. Another problem we had was the parking lot was completely full when we checked in and there was no where to park. We finally parked along the curb behind another vehicle, and it all worked out. Also, the breakfast area was very small. There were only four tables and people were waiting for a place to sit on Saturday morning. The other days seemed to be okay. The breakfast room could use some expansion and better air conditioning. The room was so hot, but the food offered was very adequate. Otherwise, there is nothing to complain about. The pool was nice and clean, and it was great to cool off from the heat. My complaints are petty, but worth mentioning so management will make improvements. None of the issues really affected our stay in a negative way. It was a very nice weekend, and we enjoyed our stay. I would definitely stay at the Baymont Inn in...
