This was truly a night and day experience both literally and figuratively. Upon arrival late in the evening I was greeted and checked in by Leta. She was a shining example of friendliness and customer service. She noted my Honors member status and thanked me for choosing to stay with them. They had a prize wheel you could spin for various prizes. I won a snack bag of pistachios. Upon getting to my room, unpacking, and settling in for the late night arrival I noticed my bedding was still damp (like it was pulled from the dryer too soon). I also noticed a text from Leta asking if everything was alright with my room. I told her about the damp bedding, and she immediately offered me a different room. I politely declined since I was already settled in, and it was late. She responded that if I changed my mind to let her know. The day part of my experience was at breakfast, which is supposedly to be offered until 9AM. As I said, I arrived late so I slept in a bit. I went down at about 8:50, and they already had the doors half closed. There was still food set up, so I grabbed some eggs and sausage and was going to make a waffle. The machines were already unplugged and (I believe Stephanie) walked out. I asked if it was possible to get a waffle and she unpolitely told no...they were closed. I glanced at my phone (8:53) and snapped back I thought breakfast went until 9 and walked off. She immediately knew by my reaction that I was not happy, and tried to get me to come back. By this time, her initial attitude had set the tone. I went to my room and tossed the eggs and sausage in the trash, packed up, checked out, and paid for breakfast at Cracker Barrel down the street. This stay is just like a book or a movie. Everything can be amazing, but the only part you really remember is the ending...and the ending to this stay left a very bad impression. I hope they can coach Stephanie through this, but next time I'm in this area, I will probably look to stay elsewhere despite Leta's...
Read moreIt's a new hotel with new amenities, which I am not a fan of. The sink in the bathroom was the worst. It had the faucet in the corner of a relatively large bathroom sink, which made it difficult to wash hands without spilling water everywhere on the counter. The bathtub already had a pretty large chip in it, and I did not like the sliding door in the bathroom vs a regular door. The beds were comfortable, so that was good. There were no trash bags for the garbages in the room and when we asked for a trash bag they just gave us a large Hefty bag to throw everything in. Seems weird to me to not have trash bags in the trashcans - they got dirty fast! I tried the new Hilton App, but only one of us could use our phone to use as a key, so I had to get a regular key and my wife got to use her phone. The pool is the smallest pool I have ever seen in a hotel. It goes from 3 feet to 5 feet deep. Capacity was 10 or 12 people and most of the time we were there it was filled to capacity, so my kids went swimming early in the morning while everyone else was eating breakfast in order to avoid the crowds. Breakfast was very simple but they have other things ready to use once the pandemic gets better. I've stayed at other hotels during the pandemic that still had a full breakfast and everything was fine. One of the gentlemen at the front desk wasn't wearing a mask anywhere he went, not sure what was up with that, but all of the other employees I saw were. Overall, the hotel was clean and the beds were comfortable, so I slept good and that's what matters most. More than likely, if I came back to the area I'd try...
Read moreAfter staying in Hampton Inns all over the country for decades and never having a single issue; our streak ended. What a huge disappointment. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone and would not stay here again.
At check in they put us on the first floor which is the floor for pets. We love pets, we have pets, we did not travel with pets. The room smelled so bad of stinky, wet dog that our clothes smelled when we changed out of them 45 minutes later. Thick cloying, wet dog smell. We asked for a new room immediately but the desk staff needed the managers approval before switching us. We finally did get switched-- 30 minutes later to a smaller room on a different floor with no price adjustment and no apology.
I was happy the room did not smell this time-- BUT-- there were several dead cockroaches in the room. The next morning we asked for the dead roaches to be vacuumed up and then we had to ask again that afternoon. (they did finally vacuum up the roaches) The room was an ADA room and the blinds were broken but it did not smell like dog.
Breakfast day one- with 75 minutes left on the breakfast time most all the food was wiped out (eggs, yogurts, milk, oj) and ALL the tables were dirty. It was a busy summer morning with lots of kids running around why would they have not planned for the crowd?
Breakfast day two-- much better. Clean and stocked. (and two people working)
This was by no means the Hampton Inn we depend on. I will...
