My family and I were looking for a cheap place to sleep while visiting bowling green Kentucky. This was the cheapest place around and only about 35 min from BG. It was perfect. We were literally only looking for a place to sleep. The room was very clean and on ground level. Tv worked great, microwave was small and half worked. The plate didn't rotate and it only heated food on one half of microwave but I just rotated the dish half way through. The fridge didn't work in our room but we didn't even know one was included so it was no big deal. I did NOT complain about either so idk if the staff would have replaced them or not. We were hardly in the room so NBD. Had a hair dryer, ironing board, cold ac, ice bucket with working machine, vending machines in hallway and coffee pot. No breakfast but fresh coffee in lobby. Our room had a slight odor to it (musty type smell) but the cleanliness was amazing! I would go so far as to say it was pristine including the bathroom. The shower was amazing. The water pressure was out of this world. It was great for me and my husband who love very strong jet sprays but an elderly person or a child would not like it. We didn't complain though so idk if there was a solution or if we would have been given a new room. We were cool with it though. It was perfect for our needs and definitely will stay again. Staff was amazing, quick and very friendly! The outside was clean but it is a dated hotel. Looks are deceiving though. We did not travel with any pet so no review for that part. They do have restrictions posted though so call to make sure your pet is ok beforehand.

All the employees I met were very nice and helpful. The building is older, but they have done a good job keeping it going. Don’t expect a palace, please!! The walls aren’t perfect but were newly painted and the bathroom had newer caulk. It looked like it had been cleaned very well, even though things are older. The AC is loud, but kept us cool and blocked out some outside noise. I saw a couple knats, but I get bugs in my own house, they are everywhere… even mansions!! The bed was nice, and I loved the hard floor instead of carpet… easier to keep clean. Couldn’t tell if an animal had been there before me. Wish I’d had my dog with me!! I loved the picture on the wall, the accessibility of plug ins right by the bed, and the fridge and microwave. The location is perfection!! Right off I-65, close to the Crystal Onyx Cave (where we went), Dinosaur park, mammoth caves, lost river cave (where we also went), the Kentucky Outback, plus so much more. I only stayed one night, but I’d definitely stay longer. Don’t be afraid to try it out, unless you want a really fancy hotel.

If you like dirty rooms and rude front desk people, this is the place for you! Immediately upon entering the lobby, we noticed a foul smell. Once checked in and saw our room, we checked the bed and noticed a significant amount of dead bugs/flies on both beds covering the pillows and sheets. We got out of the room as fast as we could and went back to the front desk. After telling the front desk person what we witnessed, we could instantly tell that we were NOT the first people who had this problem. The worker got defensive very quickly, and tried to claim that this was normal for the area, even going as far as claiming that local hospitals have the same bug problem. The worker offered to change rooms, but after reading other recent reviews and based on our experience with the hotel thus far we had no confidence that the second room would be any better. After being denied a refund, we booked a hotel right across the street that miraculously did not have the bug problem that is apparently so common here.

Sam Patel who owns this hotel is a liar and thief. If I can give you any advice, please DON'T stay here. We Checked into this hotel on June 15, 2018 at 8:15 pm. Didn’t go into the room until 9:30 pm because we ran for something to eat. When we walked into room #108 immediately a stench of sewage hit you in the face. But we were so exhausted from driving 10 hours we decided we would stay and make the best of it. I brought dryer sheets in to try to make it smell better. We laid down in the beds and immediately felt like we were getting bitten under the sheets. There were several bugs flying in the room and a couple bugs on the carpet. We were in our room until about 10:45 and I couldn’t take it . Told my kids and husband we were checking out. I went in and told the guy at the desk we couldn’t stay there. The smell was awful and tons of bugs in the room. He said he wouldn’t charge us and asked if we used the room. I told him we had just laid down and felt like we were getting bitten and about the bugs.. After we left I received a phone call from the guy saying we used the room and he was charging us. I let him know I would be contacting the BBB about his actions. He proceeded to charge our credit card for the room. The next day we saw he charged us for the room plus an extra $152.00 and claimed there were damages to the room. Cannot believe it! A wonderful family vacation has a black spot because of this guy. Lies!!!! I have NEVER had any issues with any hotels my family and I have stayed at. I CANNOT believe what this man has done. I will never stay at a Red Roof Inn again!!! Worst experience of my life! I would seriously suggest NOT staying at this hotel. Very disheartened that this man could do something like this. Just disgusted. Please read the reviews and be aware. I read reviews after the fact and now we are paying for it. Please DO NOT stay here! I can't believe he is able to operate this way and get away with it. Fraudulently charges your credit cards. He took a photo of a curtain that had pen on the backside and said the damages were done by us. UNBELIEVABLE LIES. He's trying to say my 18 year old daughter or 14 year old son or my husband or myself scribbled on the backside of a curtain with a pen. This is to justify him charging us for the room that we stayed in for an hour $105.00 and then and additional $152.72 for a curtain that was scribbled on (NO DOUBT Mr. Patel did the damage after we left)) so he can claim we did it. PLEASE BEWARE OF THIS PLACE. I HAVE NEVER DEALT WITH ANYONE LIKE THIS BEFORE. Even more recent reviews mention the bugs and the stench. I don't know how anyone can rate this place 5/5. Those posts have to be fake as well. LIES. I don't want anyone else to go through what my family has...

What a great little place to stay! Always stay in Cave City as I drive down to Mardi Gras every year from Ontario. I love that area just off the highway where the T-Rex statue stands by the southbound I-65 exit 53 ramp. The area is VERY well lit. There are gas stations and, even though I rarely eat fast food, there are a ton of options around there. I've stayed at different locations around that area and only one was not good.|I'm reviewing this as it is. I don't review hotels with lesser stars as if they should be some luxury spot. This is a budget-friendly place that provided everything I needed. You can clearly see that it is an older property, but they have put in the work to keep it up. The paint looked new and the floors looked new too. The place was spotless. Bed was very comfortable. TV worked and there was a good selection of channels. Luggage rack was in the room, which I love. You can get your large suitcase up to grab level and open it up without lugging up and down off the bed or a table. There was a desk with a chair, VERY clean fridge and microwave - in fact the over-the-top 'fancy' hotel I stayed at in The Quarter didn't have a fridge but they brought one and it was disgusting. This place was a fraction of the price nightly and had more amenities and was cleaner. There was even a little safe in the room. It had far more extras than some of the pricey places I've stayed before.|Lots of lighting and the lamps had electrical outlets, always love that. You got an in-room coffee maker, iron and board, little soaps, lots of clean towels. The bed was soft enough, which is rare. I have RA and a hard, stiff mattress hurts my joints worse.|I always get in later with the long drive, and the front desk clerk was very friendly. Always nice after being in the car all day. |I had a room on the first floor and parking spot outside the door. The door to the room would stay open, and I usually don't leave it open for safety, but I felt fine unloading the car like that. No one was around (a Wednesday night) and there was so much light in the parking lot. Didn't worry about my car at all. It was cold and snowing, and the heater worked great. |A fabulous place to stay for the night...or even the week. Great sleep, coffee in the morning with cream I brought and could put in the nice fridge. Felt very safe as a woman traveling alone and had a wonderful sleep. Bonus was the very easy in and out loading, and a more than fair price. |Would definitely stay here again and...

My kids and I were traveling from Louisiana to Michigan and stopped an extra night in Cave City to go visit Mammoth Cave and other local sites. The owners obviously had attempted a pseudo-upgrade with new bedspreads, updated lighting, etc. We had a room with 2 queen beds, microwave, & fridge. The man who checked us in was very accommodating and polite (I believe his name was Sam). Our rate was $75/night, which was overpriced based on what we ended up with. I ALWAYS check mattresses for bed bugs upon arrival at a hotel. I was disgusted at the condition of the mattresses (see photos). They were totally sprung. No support whatsoever. And they were stained. I went to the office and showed the pics to the employee and explained that I would definitely have back pain if I spent 2 nights on a bed like that. He apologized and offered to give us another room. He took me to the other room for me to check it out, but the beds were exactly the same. Not wanting to go through a major upheaval with my kids and having to find another hotel for 2 nights, I decided to stay in the original room. There were a few gnats in the room as well as a couple of other kinds of bugs, including one on my daughter's pillow. The whole stay I felt like something was crawling on me. The towels were like sandpaper. The bathroom doorknob was loose (see pics). The toilet leaked a LOT onto the floor every time we flushed. The maintenance guy tried to fix it but it was still leaking when we left. Although the bathroom counter had a built-in kleenex opening, they did not provide a box of kleenex. Instead, they left a little pocket pack of kleenex with the Red Roof logo on the package. The breakfast was acceptable as far as free breakfasts go. The whole area is absolutely gorgeous. Definitely visit Cave City. But stay somewhere else if you want to be...
