Sam Patel who owns this hotel is a liar and thief. If I can give you any advice, please DON'T stay here. We Checked into this hotel on June 15, 2018 at 8:15 pm. Didn’t go into the room until 9:30 pm because we ran for something to eat. When we walked into room #108 immediately a stench of sewage hit you in the face. But we were so exhausted from driving 10 hours we decided we would stay and make the best of it. I brought dryer sheets in to try to make it smell better. We laid down in the beds and immediately felt like we were getting bitten under the sheets. There were several bugs flying in the room and a couple bugs on the carpet. We were in our room until about 10:45 and I couldn’t take it . Told my kids and husband we were checking out. I went in and told the guy at the desk we couldn’t stay there. The smell was awful and tons of bugs in the room. He said he wouldn’t charge us and asked if we used the room. I told him we had just laid down and felt like we were getting bitten and about the bugs.. After we left I received a phone call from the guy saying we used the room and he was charging us. I let him know I would be contacting the BBB about his actions. He proceeded to charge our credit card for the room. The next day we saw he charged us for the room plus an extra $152.00 and claimed there were damages to the room. Cannot believe it! A wonderful family vacation has a black spot because of this guy. Lies!!!! I have NEVER had any issues with any hotels my family and I have stayed at. I CANNOT believe what this man has done. I will never stay at a Red Roof Inn again!!! Worst experience of my life! I would seriously suggest NOT staying at this hotel. Very disheartened that this man could do something like this. Just disgusted. Please read the reviews and be aware. I read reviews after the fact and now we are paying for it. Please DO NOT stay here! I can't believe he is able to operate this way and get away with it. Fraudulently charges your credit cards. He took a photo of a curtain that had pen on the backside and said the damages were done by us. UNBELIEVABLE LIES. He's trying to say my 18 year old daughter or 14 year old son or my husband or myself scribbled on the backside of a curtain with a pen. This is to justify him charging us for the room that we stayed in for an hour $105.00 and then and additional $152.72 for a curtain that was scribbled on (NO DOUBT Mr. Patel did the damage after we left)) so he can claim we did it. PLEASE BEWARE OF THIS PLACE. I HAVE NEVER DEALT WITH ANYONE LIKE THIS BEFORE. Even more recent reviews mention the bugs and the stench. I don't know how anyone can rate this place 5/5. Those posts have to be fake as well. LIES. I don't want anyone else to go through what my family has...
Read moreWhat a great little place to stay! Always stay in Cave City as I drive down to Mardi Gras every year from Ontario. I love that area just off the highway where the T-Rex statue stands by the southbound I-65 exit 53 ramp. The area is VERY well lit. There are gas stations and, even though I rarely eat fast food, there are a ton of options around there. I've stayed at different locations around that area and only one was not good.|I'm reviewing this as it is. I don't review hotels with lesser stars as if they should be some luxury spot. This is a budget-friendly place that provided everything I needed. You can clearly see that it is an older property, but they have put in the work to keep it up. The paint looked new and the floors looked new too. The place was spotless. Bed was very comfortable. TV worked and there was a good selection of channels. Luggage rack was in the room, which I love. You can get your large suitcase up to grab level and open it up without lugging up and down off the bed or a table. There was a desk with a chair, VERY clean fridge and microwave - in fact the over-the-top 'fancy' hotel I stayed at in The Quarter didn't have a fridge but they brought one and it was disgusting. This place was a fraction of the price nightly and had more amenities and was cleaner. There was even a little safe in the room. It had far more extras than some of the pricey places I've stayed before.|Lots of lighting and the lamps had electrical outlets, always love that. You got an in-room coffee maker, iron and board, little soaps, lots of clean towels. The bed was soft enough, which is rare. I have RA and a hard, stiff mattress hurts my joints worse.|I always get in later with the long drive, and the front desk clerk was very friendly. Always nice after being in the car all day. |I had a room on the first floor and parking spot outside the door. The door to the room would stay open, and I usually don't leave it open for safety, but I felt fine unloading the car like that. No one was around (a Wednesday night) and there was so much light in the parking lot. Didn't worry about my car at all. It was cold and snowing, and the heater worked great. |A fabulous place to stay for the night...or even the week. Great sleep, coffee in the morning with cream I brought and could put in the nice fridge. Felt very safe as a woman traveling alone and had a wonderful sleep. Bonus was the very easy in and out loading, and a more than fair price. |Would definitely stay here again and...
Read moreMy kids and I were traveling from Louisiana to Michigan and stopped an extra night in Cave City to go visit Mammoth Cave and other local sites. The owners obviously had attempted a pseudo-upgrade with new bedspreads, updated lighting, etc. We had a room with 2 queen beds, microwave, & fridge. The man who checked us in was very accommodating and polite (I believe his name was Sam). Our rate was $75/night, which was overpriced based on what we ended up with. I ALWAYS check mattresses for bed bugs upon arrival at a hotel. I was disgusted at the condition of the mattresses (see photos). They were totally sprung. No support whatsoever. And they were stained. I went to the office and showed the pics to the employee and explained that I would definitely have back pain if I spent 2 nights on a bed like that. He apologized and offered to give us another room. He took me to the other room for me to check it out, but the beds were exactly the same. Not wanting to go through a major upheaval with my kids and having to find another hotel for 2 nights, I decided to stay in the original room. There were a few gnats in the room as well as a couple of other kinds of bugs, including one on my daughter's pillow. The whole stay I felt like something was crawling on me. The towels were like sandpaper. The bathroom doorknob was loose (see pics). The toilet leaked a LOT onto the floor every time we flushed. The maintenance guy tried to fix it but it was still leaking when we left. Although the bathroom counter had a built-in kleenex opening, they did not provide a box of kleenex. Instead, they left a little pocket pack of kleenex with the Red Roof logo on the package. The breakfast was acceptable as far as free breakfasts go. The whole area is absolutely gorgeous. Definitely visit Cave City. But stay somewhere else if you want to be...
