Overall a good stay with some bumps. I booked online and accidentally booked 2 smoking rooms. I called to change it to non-smoking but the gentleman I spoke to did not actually change it, despite reassuring me he had, so when we got to the hotel we were still booked as smoking. We were able to get 2 non-smoking rooms but they were pretty far from each other - around corners and down corriders, even though by a map they're actually really near each other. The smoking/non-smoking situation in this hotel is bizarre as some non-smoking rooms are above a smoking block - we could have had our rooms closer together had we been willing to take a room with a slight smoke smell but we wanted two truly non-smoking rooms. I was told the smell would go away once we turned the AC up but I really didn't want to find out.
Other than the distance between our two rooms, the stay was fine. Rooms were quiet, clean, and comfortable. Decor is not fancy but everything is in good repair. Front desk staff was helpful and polite (the gentleman who did not change my reservation was not working while we were here). Breakfast is adequate - not amazing but perfectly adequate - and breakfast room is small so we carried it back to our room but for the price, I can't complain. Pool was awesome - clean and a nice big size so lots of people can use it without feeling crowded or awkward. Proximity to the caves was the biggest draw for us - 17 minutes to Mammouth. Oh and the water pressure in the shower was top notch... I'm not a fan of the big rain head showers some hotels are using. I'd use a pressure washer if I could.
Would stay here again if in the area, but would request well ahead of arrival to be put in the non-smoking block of rooms. (206 and 222 are nice and smoke free - 202 was the one that smelled) If it weren't for the diceyness of a smoking room smelling like smoke and this being a known issue due to placement, I'd say this was a "5 for a...

A stellar stay. But…
There was one very annoying point: the grab and go breakfast was pretty much the same every day. It’s bad enough that a grab and go replaced the great breakfast choices they used to have. Wyndham is using Covid as the excuse. But this makes no sense because the stir sticks and lids for the coffee are exposed where everybody touches them! Same goes for the fresh fruit. It’s a money saving cash grab from the owner(s). But I have to say, this is in no way management or the staffs fault because this is a corporate rule from coast to coast I’ve noticed.
Now for the good! Check in was extremely fast even though there was a hiccup with the Hopper booking app. Missy, at the front desk, was able to quickly find me the proper non-smoking room. She also answered my numerous questions about the area and the caves. Every day that I saw her she was extremely friendly and went out of her way to grab towels, soap, etc. I didn’t want to be bothered by any staff while I was there for several days, and not once did anybody bang on my door. I really appreciated that!
The room was extremely clean, however, it was a bit threadbare. Again this is not something management or staff has control over. All Wyndham properties are like this from coast to coast and I don’t expect any major remodels during the recession.
There was just enough space, water pressure, extra toiletries, working microwave and fridge, excellent location, and most importantly for me, location!
I’ve seen several reviews that mention not enough parking. I’m not sure what hotel they were staying at but I’ve attached a picture of a nearly full hotel with ample parking left. And it looks to be recently resurfaced.
Overall a great experience and I would highly recommend. Five out of five stars. Thanks to ALL the staff, and especially Missy for answering my excessive...
Read moreBased solely on price, I did not have high expectations before my stay. However, it turns out that you get even less than what you pay for here. The proximity to Mammoth Caves is really the only thing this place has going for it. Otherwise, there was mold on the curtains, what looked like blood stains on the walls and comforter, and awful patchwork in the shower that looked like it was attracting mildew build up (the shower walls were literally nailed on and then spackle was halfheartedly slapped over the nails). In another room, my husband's parents did not have any cleanliness issues, but their shower head fell off as soon as my father in law turned on the water and the rattling from their heater kept them up all night. As far as breakfast goes, I don't know what breakfast other reviewers were eating, but it absolutely was not a "good meal" or "fabulous." All they had for "hot" food was a couple cold egg patties, dry biscuits, and bland sausage links. Otherwise, there were your standard bread, bagels, muffins, eggo waffles, and cereal items. The first morning we were there, they ran out of coffee, egg patties, bread, and waffles all at once, and it took forever for them to replenish them. There were only about six people in there eating breakfast at the time, so it's not like there was a huge rush. We ended up having to run over to McDonald's or risk missing our tour. Also, the breakfast room is tiny. It probably only seats around 10 people total, and there isn't much room to move around at all. We did not even try to eat breakfast there our second morning. As a result of the whole experience (gross rooms, things falling apart, and lackluster breakfast), we actually ended up checking out a day early and instead spending the extra $20 to stay at a much nicer hotel--which is exactly what I recommend anyone considering this...
