Read moreBED BUGS--Room 118. I ended up having an allergic reaction and had to go to urgent care to get steroid shot, oral steroid and antihistamine prescriptions. In the summer of 2021 We bought a home on Daniel Island and while in the process of renovating it I frequently stayed at this hotel. In all the previous stays I had no issues. The staff is friendly and the hotel appeared to be very clean. However, in early December I stayed in room 118 for extended nights and ended up realizing that I had bed bug bites. Initially I thought that my dogs must have gotten fleas from the room or outside of the property (the possibility of bed bugs had not even occurred to me at this point). I have since learned that after being bitten it can be hours to days before having a reaction which is why it was not until the end of my stay that I started having evidence of bites all over my body. Once I googled bed bug bites vs flea bites, I quickly realized that I had been bitten by bed bugs and I immediately gathered my things from the room and went to the front desk to report this. The staff member asked if she could come check the room and we quickly found a bed bug in the mattress. I was told that I would be reimbursed for my stay. However, I was only comped for a part of my stay and when I spoke to a manager about this, (maybe Kristen--I cannot remember) she said, "Well, you only had to pay for one night... I wish you would have told us sooner." As if I knew what was happening and chose to stay in some disgusting room where I was being feasted on by bed bugs at night!!!! I subsequently talked to another manager that told me that I would be comped for the entire stay and that I would hear back from the hotel after some outside service came to inspect the room--I have not heard...
Read moreDue to a plumbing issue, we checked in to the nearby hotel on Daniel Island to wait for repair. We reserved 2 nights, but we explained at check-in, we might only need one. We were told not to worry, if we didn’t want the second night, be sure to check out before 11am the following day and we would not be charged.
The following morning, we got the all clear to return home. We immediately notified the front desk we would be checking out and we stopped in person to drop off the room key, well before we were required to.
When checking my bank account, I could see 2 nights were changed. I called and was told they would pass along my details to a Manager but I never received a credit or a call. A few days later, I noticed a charge not only for the two nights, but an additional night. When I called the hotel again they told me they charged the additional night and would refund the original 2 night charge.
Two weeks later, none of the charges were reversed. Our stay was on Feb 5, checking out Feb 6. By March 1, I still had not received a refund in any amount in spite of multiple calls and promises for prompt attention. By March 15, I gave up and contacted our bank to dispute the charge.
There was plenty of time to reverse the extra night and at no time did management dispute our original request or indicate that we were wrong to request it. An otherwise nice room and friendly front desk experience were ruined by this weeks-long hassle of trying to reverse an...
