Despite having curly hair my whole life, I didn't know how to take care of it, so I always straightened it. During COVID, I stopped doing that, and embraced a curly hair journey. I realized I needed something different when at a haircut last year I was teaching my stylist how to style my curly hair, then paying her for it. So I started looking for someone in Charlotte to dry cut my curly hair and to educate me. By the time I saw Raquel for the first time, I had been 3 years straightener free, but was still doing damage to my hair with the blow dryer. Still, I was feeling good about my curls- i had come a long way! When I finally pulled the trigger to see her, Raquel was so warm, inviting, and supportive! She praised the work I was already doing on my journey, educated me on why I had heat damage, asked about the quality and type of water so she could use the right products, and taught me the importance of styling with sopping wet hair. Best hair experience of my life! The service that Raquel provides is 11/10 as she works with both care and passion. It's clear that she loves what she does and it shows in her work as I came out feeling great and with beautiful refreshed curls. We spent a good amount of time just going over what I was looking for and my current routine so that she could give helpful advice and a haircut that fit my exact vision. She went over exactly what I wanted and didn't want, executing the final look beautifully! She was kind in her advice, never making me feel bad for not knowing much about my own hair or for using the wrong products. Instead, she gave honest input and recommendations with the reasoning behind it that I trusted immediately. I loved Raquel! She was so amazing and really took the time to understand my needs/wants in a new hairstyle. I have always played it safe when it came to my hair(same style and only a trim) and didn't trust just anybody to do my hair. In fact I would travel out of state and go back home to go to the people I knew(this is Pennsylvania!), but when I started my journey in looking for a hairstylist that was an expert in curly hair-her named popped up in my search. I decided to follow her on social media first, and after taking the time in seeing how she deals with all her clients, takes continuing education to hone her craft- it was no doubt that I should at least do a consultation!
