This was my first time staying at this property, and not only will I not be returning, but unfortunately, I just cannot recommend either. Based on the reviews, I was excited for my stay at the AC Hotel Charlotte Southpark. I was impressed by the modern feel from the photos, the offerings and amenities seem generous, and the location ideal. Upon arriving, the front desk let us check in early (great!) However, that excitement was short-lived... Upon entering the room, first impression was "hmm not bad" I then proceeded to do my usual check of the room and clean sweep with Lysol. When I pulled the comforter back, I noticed a fresh blood stain. Of course I was immediately disturbed, so I took a picture and went right back down to the front desk. I showed the same staff personnel that checked us in the photo, and by her face, she was obviously in shock and grossed out as well. It was definitely more than a surprise to say the least, because when we got upstairs to our room, the cleaning staff was currently turning rooms, and this one so happened to be a freshly "cleaned" one. Anyway, moving on, she proceeds to hand me a key to another room that is "supposedly ready. I head upstairs, and low and behold, this room has not even been touched since the last guests. It looked like they had literally just checked out. Bed still unmade, dirty towels, etc. Housekeeping hadn't even touched the room. I immediately pick up the phone, call downstairs, and tell them the situation. They apologize and say that they will send someone up. A gentlemen comes up, states that something is wrong with their systems, and apologizes for the confusion. He then hands me ANOTHER key to a room that is ready. By this time, after traveling, I am just ready to settle in, as we also had an event to attend that evening. As we are headed downstairs for our event, I ask if the manager would be present the next morning, and the staff gave me a name and business card. We also asked about the lounge area/ bar, and the staff informed that it was closed on Sundays. We asked about the next day, and she informed that it would be closed then, too. Bummer. I would like to say that the issues ended there, however, again we had another issue with cleanliness. This time, I notice a brown stain toward the edge of the comforter. Again, I take a picture, pull the comforter off the bed, and throw it on the floor. The next morning we called down to see if breakfast would be served anywhere on the property. We were told yes, so we proceeded to go downstairs to the area as indicated. We were not greeted until seral minutes later (didn't know whether to seat ourselves, how to order, etc. No menus were provided, so when we were finally provided a menu, it was lackluster, no variety of meal options, so we decided to drive abut five minutes away to another breakfast spot off location. Another bummer. As we are checking out, I ask for the manager on the business card that as provided to me. I show the gentleman all of the pictures (he was the same one who brought us the key the day before) and he agreed to give me a discount on the room. I'd like to highlight any positives from this entire experience, but at this time, I...
Read moreI recently stayed at the AC Hotel in Charlotte SouthPark, and overall, it was an excellent experience. Pros: Modern and Immaculate: This is a beautiful, newer hotel with sleek, contemporary decor. The rooms are spacious, clean, and very well-appointed. The atmosphere is stylish yet comfortable—perfect for both business and leisure. Great Neighborhood: The hotel is in an ideal location, situated near SouthPark Mall. It’s a charming, upscale neighborhood, and I appreciated being within walking distance of plenty of dining options, shops, and cafes. It’s definitely a vibrant and convenient area. Location: Beyond the shopping and restaurants, this area of Charlotte feels safe and pleasant. I enjoyed exploring the surroundings, making it a perfect home base for my trip. Cons: Check-in Experience: The manager on duty, who resembled Jane Lynch, was engrossed in her computer and didn’t seem to notice or acknowledge that I was waiting at the desk. A simple greeting or even eye contact would have gone a long way in making the arrival feel warmer and more welcoming. Sofa Bed Linens: When we arrived, there were no linens for the sofa bed, which was a bit inconvenient. It would have been nice if the room had been fully prepared for all sleeping arrangements without having to request extra bedding. Mattress Protector Issue: The mattress protector on the sofa bed was stained. While it didn’t impact the overall cleanliness of the room, it was an unfortunate detail that detracted from the otherwise spotless environment. Parking Issues: The parking situation here can be a bit frustrating. They run out of parking spaces frequently, especially since a significant portion of the lot is designated for compact cars. There’s also the issue of larger vehicles taking up two spaces, which exacerbates the limited parking. No Sugar-Free Options: I noticed there were no sugar-free snacks or drinks available in the hotel market. It would be a great addition for guests who need those options. Despite these minor inconveniences, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the AC Hotel Charlotte SouthPark. I recommend it to anyone visiting Charlotte who wants a modern, stylish hotel in a...
Read moreHello Viewer, I am visiting our Charlotte headquarter office by the Southpark. as any business traveler, by default, I was introduce to stay under Marriott system, and AC hotel by Marriott Charlotte Southpark is the closest to our office building. 5 minutes walking distance.
By the name of AC hotel, you can tell the room offers modern, luxury atmosphere environment for the business traveler. I stayed at room 317 on the first night when I check in. I don't expect any less or more when I book AC hotel for my stay. behinds the modern and beautiful decoration that shows on the photos, I discover my room has some sort of the hallway ventilation hole create noisy air flow sounds. I decided to turn off air conditioner for the room, but air conditioner noise and hallway ventilation noise is completed irrelevant. I thought I will be sleep find consider it might be a white noise. I was wrong about it, the noise keeps my night tiring and eventually I had to wake up around 6:30AM, consider I lost 3 hours travel from California time. on the second day, I asked to check, and staff was impatiently scheduled a technician on her screen without listening to my concern. as long as the staff explain to me where the noise come from and how to solve it. I can be very reasonable to deal with. after my long day meeting, I came back to room and ask staff if there is any further report to another staff, she is asking to schedule another technician. that's where I had to stop and demand to change the room. of course, the staff was polite and kind, but I can't accept the fact there is no more update.
besides the loud noise, the master light go on around 2:30AM by itself, not sure if it's a sensor goes off or a timer. I had to wake up and shut the light off again and power through my sleep.
A business hotel suppose to provide the best accommodation for the tired business traveler to enjoy their sound sleep and restful leg. yet, I found nothing in this stylish modern hotel but 5 minutes convenience to my work place.
P.S - did I mention their night rate is $220 when I...
