Once I got to the hotel I didn't know where to park. There is no designated parking spot for check in so I parked in the parking garage near the icryo place not knowing if I had to pay to get into the parking garage or if I had to pay once I left. Which is very confusing. I walked over and checked in. Check in was easy. There was so much going on that I didn't really hear what the lady at the front desk was saying. 7th floor room 701. You have to scan your room key in the elevator and press the button for the 7th floor. It's nice. Great view. Full wrap around curtains with blinds that are controlled by a wall mounted switch with buttons. Let's talk positives. Once you get the layout you are set. It's in walking distance of a grocery store, restaurants, coffee, and the mall. The shower with a detached handle is an extra benefit if you need to hit certain areas...or are into that sort of thing plus a rainfall shower head that was very nice.
The negatives. The parking situation is odd. You have to scan a barcode to validate your parking each time you leave and come back in. You do this by scanning a QR code or using a tablet at the front desk. They have the QR code printed on a sign near the elevators as well. However, it's not in the room, or in the hallways or on the door or anywhere else. And trust me you may think it's no issue I'll remember well you won't... you'll get busy with friends, work, traveling, shopping, had to many drinks or whatever and you'll forget. That's the issue. Most places just take your tag info and that's it. Now the onus is on you to remember to validate your own parking. I get it...the parking is limited but there are better ways to handle it than this. The room I had was good. Nice and spacious but it wasn't the room I booked from the pictures I saw on hotels.com and that's disappointing. My room had a giant pole in the corner which is weird and awkward. Virtually no place to sit except for a table and chair that felt like an after thought. No place to really put your luggage or to unpack your things. The TV felt very small for the room and table it was on and it was crooked leaning to the right. The area where the shower is juts out into the room awkwardly. There was a 2 seat bench that was nice for sitting but I used for my luggage. Which again leaves limited seating options. The bed is on a platform which is nice but it makes it stiff. The mattress is this weird combination of firm but soft. Initially it's soft and you are like this is nice but after sleeping on it for a night it's not soft. It's firm and made my back and neck sore. There is a built in rug under the bed that kind of matches the carpet in the hallway and wall art behind the bed but even that is weird. The mix of weird angles and flooring doesn't serve this room any justice.
Lastly, please for the love all things put the parking validation QR code in the rooms. This will save a lot of parking headaches. I can't imagine walking to the elevator going down to the lobby scanning the QR code and validating the parking and go back up to my room. It's just a simple convenience.
I guess maybe tell guests to bookmark the link for the QR code on their phones when checking in.
I wasn't told which WiFi to use and there were 2 Hyatt WiFi options which is confusing. The wifi is horribly slow. I was getting maybe 12-19mbps. My phone was getting 500+ Mbps on 5G. No microwaves in the room and I'm not sure where one was. It would be helpful to have a way to find these things or a way to chat with the front desk without having to call them or go downstairs.
All in all not a bad hotel. I think it gets high ratings for all of the amenities like walking distance to restaurants l, grocery store, mall, rooftop restaurant/bar...etc. But for me that isn't enough to justify $200+/night. This rooms thermo is confused on what it wants to be. Costco freezer cold...
Read moreI stayed here during my first time visiting Charlotte. My stay was a little over a week. The location is beautiful and the hotel is also nice. Ming was awesome and was who checked me in. He was usually who I ended up speaking to you whenever I would call down to the front desk regarding any questions or concerns that I may have had.
I will be coming to Charlotte again this year, but I can’t say that I would stay in this hotel again. Regarding the rooms, it was nice and clean upon arrival. I really enjoyed the shower although there were no bathrobes available as advertised online. The one I was given finally was very old and very worn out. I think around day three, someone checked in next to me. For a couple hours I thought somebody was in the hallway talking, but it turns out I was hearing the person next door to me talking on the phone. Regarding the food, I ordered a few times from the restaurant on the second floor. The presentation wasn’t always the best and certain items it looked like it was stored in the refrigerator and then heated up. I expected more based on the Hyatt name and the prices. I found myself trying different restaurants around town and enjoying that much more.
Upon check-in, I was told that the rooms were cleaned every four days unless requested otherwise. On the fourth day, I called down to make sure the room would be cleaned and then left for the day. Upon returning to my room, the room was not cleaned. The sheets were not changed. Instead, the bed was done. No vacuum no change of towels, no nothing. I was extremely disappointed only because I had a really bad headache and look forward to laying down and relaxing. Instead, I had to call the front desk regarding the issue & left my room for about an hour and a half so I wasn’t in the way. Additionally, the day before I was scheduled to check out, my toilets start flushing completely. I called down to the front desk regarding the issue, and nothing was done about it. The day I checked out, the toilet was still down.
The day I checked out, I’ve packed everything the day before so that I would be able to hit the road early in the morning and get to an appointment that I had later that day. Everyone woke up at 5 AM and I loaded the car. When trying to check out, there was no one at the desk. I understand stepping away occasionally, but I waited close to an hour just to be able to check out. I’m not sure why no one was at the desk, but I even went to the second floor and spoke with one of the restaurant workers who took my name and email down and assured me that they would give it to the front desk so that my check out can be complete. I’m glad that I did not take their word for it because they did not do that. Instead I waited in the lobby for someone to appear. Someone name Shanna finally appeared, but by then, I was already an hour behind schedule and as a result of that, I missed my appointment.
I had high hopes, but unfortunately my stay here was a bit of a...
Read moreI would have given this hotel a 5 star review if not for the extremely inconvenient & odd layout of the room.||Ill start with the (almost all) good. Very clean, nicely decorated hotel. Excellent tucked away location with the ability to walk to a TON of great restaurants and shopping. Free self parking garage is just across the small street. A large top floor gym with a good amount of equipment. The employees were friendly, helpful and informative. The 2nd floor had a nice bar area, a section with couches and a brunch restaurant that was open until 2pm. There’s a rooftop bar with a small outdoor couch area and a beautiful restaurant (Mizu) with indoor/outdoor seating. Just a really nice hotel overall. ||The room had nice amenities like a Keurig, a small mini fridge, very comfortable beds and fantastic blackout curtains. We couldn't tell if it was 4am or 11am in the morning - which we liked very much! The walk in shower had a low step on bar for shaving legs (nice touch) BUT…..and this is a REALLY big big BUT……… || The walk-in, frosted glass shower, is IN THE HALLWAY!! When you first step into the room you are LITERALLY standing in the bathroom area. Take one step into the room door & the sink is in front of you and the shower directly to the left. The door is frosted NOT blacked out. I could clearly see my husband showering through the door… not just a shadow. And the toilet alcove has a sliding frosted door that just slides to cover the opening. If you turn the light on in that space, from the outside you can clearly see the person sitting on the toilet, but they cannot see out…so we never turned that light on. This is directly inside the entrance to the room. It presented a challenge for us as we shared the room with our grown daughter. We had to be very strategic as to who was showering and when because there was absolutely no privacy. You step out of the shower into the open. Our double queen room did have a sliding door that could separate the bed area from the bathroom for privacy, but the other people in the room had to leave or stay in the bed area, because to exit the room from the bed area you had to walk through the bathroom. The king room that one of our group stayed in didnt have this extra sliding door. The bathroom was completely open to the room, only separated by a half wall. Im thinking “modern” design means no privacy?? Our double queen room also had no chair or desk- just the bed to sit on, a closet where the hanging rod hung front to back instead of the traditional side to side, so our clothing was hanging front to back (why????) There was no dresser to put things on & the room was a bit dark even with every light on. It was just a bizarre & awkward setup. Overall we really did like this hotel but would probably stay somewhere else in the future due to the total lack of...
