Denied service because of my âtextureâ. Iâm literally crying while writing this review. I booked a hair appointment same day as Iâve done since I started using this salon. I normally have a fantastic experience. As a mom of 7 and an entrepreneur I never know what my schedule will allow me to do so having the convenience of being able to schedule a appointment in a free timeslot in my day has been a life saver. Never in a million years would I have through that based on to notes in my account I would be denied service. I booked a 6pm appointment and was in route when I got a phone call that my appointment would be cancelled because the stylist wouldnât be able to do my hair before closing citing the texture of my hair. Iâm an African American woman with curly hair. I simply needed a $55 blow out. There are maybe 2/3 stylist that have serviced me. One, specifically can get me in and out the f the chair under a hour, while newer girls to ânatural hairâ or who arenât extremely experienced with AA hair takes a bit longer. I never complain and I tip very well. To be told in essence that the stylist that are at the shop today donât want to service me because my hair MAY take 1.5 hrs to do hurts. I have never been denied service because of time or because of texture. I asked the gentleman who called to cancel what would they have done if I was a walk in? As this salon takes walk-ins. Would he have told me to leave? He said he would get a âstylist opinionâ before even allowing me to sit down. I asked him what would have happened if I was in the middle of getting my hair done and the clock strikes 7, would they make me leave mid-way through my appointment? He then said he would have asked the stylist before she started washing me to see if she would be finished in time. Imagine my shock. Like they stylist would stand in my face and tell me no. I would have been so embarrassed.
I felt really hurt as a mom whoâs already trying to find time to get out of her new mommy baggy sweatpants and messy buns phase. This is my only time with no kids and no baby pulling on me. Getting my hair done here is my one place of solace.
Bee did call shortly after to apologize. Unfortunately the gentleman told her a twisted tale of him offering for multiple stylist to do my hair at the same time to speed up the process to which I denied. He never offered anything but a next day appointment. Even after I told him I was in route from Indian Land and could arrive earlier than my appointment. Thank goodness thatâs she was able to look at my service history and think critically. I would have taken any offer outside of being denied service as I only have a small window to get my hair done every other week.
She has offered to cover my appointment when I do return. I just thought the public should know to be careful booking close to closing as your texture may determine if your confirmed appointment maybe revoked.
My hair normally turns out so...
Read moreTLDR: Poor job, especially with thick hair, staff turnover is very high and little to no management. I didnât want to write this review, but after multiple times reaching out to try to resolve my issue with a manager, it seems this is my only recourse. I visited on April 28th to get a blowout before going on a trip. In the booking notes, I wrote that I have fairly thick hair and requested an experienced stylist. I even let them know at booking that I would be requesting round brush curls, one of the styles on their âmenuâ (The Southern Comfort). The stylist I was assigned struggled throughout the whole process. She pulled my hair repeatedly during the shampoo and kept fumbling and dropping the round brush during the blowout. She just seemed very inexperienced at what she was doing. After almost an HOUR AND A HALF, she was âdoneâ. My hair was only slightly curled at the bottom, very frizzy and with a ton of weird lumps- even crease marks from the clips she used for the Velcro rollers. As I walked to my car, I (tried) to run my hands through my hair and was horrified to find DAMP SPOTS throughout the middle and bottom of my hair near the scalp. By the time I left, they were already closed for the evening. I filled out the survey they email afterwards explaining the experience, which usually prompts an email from a manager, but I still have heard nothing. I called the next day and asked to speak to a manager and the girl took a message- and no one has ever gotten back to me. Donât waste your time or money here. DryBar does not seem to be able to provide the service and experience they used to- I have been a âbarflyâ member for years, but will be cancelling to find...
Read moreBEWARD OF A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. Before I even begin explaining, just know my own stylist told me verbatim that the OWNER does not cater to black women and black hair - who says something like that? To me, it gives racism. My appointment began 1 hour late. Everything from the stylist, front desk staff, etc. was horrible to begin with. Unprofessional as a whole. After my hair was shampooed, the stylist did not detangle my hair at all. She started blow drying on tangled hair without taking the time to brush through it. She then took over 1 hour just to blow drying my hair alone. Once she finished that she started pressing it out and did an awful job. Left my roots still poofy. She did such a bad job that the other stylist had to come and fix it and RE FLAT IRON my ENTIRE head. Unbelievable. Not to mention on top of all of this, my original stylist had a horrible attitude and was mad at the fact that SHE was running late. She even told me to leave a bad review because she didnât care. Unbelievable. A blow out took 3 hours that should have taken 45 minutes. Iâll never support any dry bar establishment in Charlotte and will spread the word on how poorly this...
