I was a huge fan and a regular patron of Sushi Guru at this location, and based on the reviews, I could not wait to try this new place out. It was a little after 5 pm today, and I sat alone at the sushi bar. I was the lone patron (and now kind of relieved that my out-of-town guest could not make it last minute.) My server was attentive and pleasant, but neither of the four chefs behind the sushi bar acknowledged or greeted me. I ordered two chef special rolls, the Toyko Drift ($15) Roll and Snow White Roll ($14). Since there was no ambiance (people, music, or tv), and no servable sake/wine yet, I decided to take my order home nearby. I'll admit, as a sushi fanatic my expectations were high. But my heart sank when I saw the rolls in my take-out box. They looked too small ---the size you would expect for a traditional role, not a chef special roll. Perhaps because the rice was rolled so tightly, you could not make out the separate rice kernels (as seen in the photos shared of other chef special rolls.) In my opinion, the jalapeno was cut too thickly on top of the Toyko roll, which was also so firmly squeezed, it lacked that sushi rice lightness, melt in your mouth feel. Now I am wondering if these were sheets of pressed rice that were leftover. At this time, I am disappointed and am giving Park Sushi three stars simply for the freshness of their seafood and the friendliness of my direct server. I'm not excited about returning but I will try them again eventually and hopefully time it when the owner might be present. All reviewers have enjoyed this place and their photos show a desirable quality, so I want to give it one chance not just to impress me but make it my stomping...
Read moreOrdered online, site said ready in 75 minutes. Seemed like a long time, but OK. Arrived and it was not ready. This was a Monday night, no one in the place at all. No one else came in to pick up a to go order while I was waiting. After 90 minutes from my order, got the food. Got home (a 3 minute drive, just the other side of Fairview) and the ramen and soup were room temp, at best. After paying $120.00 for 4 persons, had to nuke our dinner. Had TWO pieces of tofu in my tofu ramen. Paid extra for scallops, no scallops. The sushi was OK, better than the ramen, but not as good as CowFish or Baku. The misu soup had no taste...
