Being that this is the highest rate per night Staybridge Suites that we have ever stayed in we had high expectations. For the amount of issues we encountered throughout our stay our expectations weren't met on any level. My husband was to join us our second night at this hotel after his conference was over.
For starters, we booked a non smoking room with a separate door to the bedroom and upon check-in we were moved to a studio. The agent mentioned that the system booked us a smoking room and we were moved because there were no other rooms available. When I went to pull out the couch for my children there was a dead beetle that popped out and no linens in the closet area. I mentioned the dead beetle and linens to the front staff and the gentleman just gasped. Once we received the linens they had holes in them, at that point I just decided to suck it up because everyone was tired and hungry. The bed also looked like someone just threw the comforter on the bed right before we walked in and there was way too much dust on the furniture.
The guests in our corridor had their door cracked with the latch and you could smell their food and hear their conversations even with the TV loud until after 2 AM. My husband came to check on us to make sure we were alright and we laughed that the noise reminded us of a freshman college dormitory. The next morning, I asked the kitchen staff for a tray to carry food and she mentioned that they do not have any trays. Another staff member asked her what my question was and she responded, "She wanted a tray; I don't know why people always ask for trays". I was not surprised by this comment because of the issues we had already experienced.
The icing on the cake was when my two year old handed me the bath mat that I had been looking for the night before. She fell in the bathtub the previous night because the mat was not draped over the tub in its usual location, it was not under the bathroom sink, in any of the drawers, or closet. I still have no idea how or where she found it. After that moment I went to the front desk and they had management call my room. I emphasized the noise level during the conversation.
After being re-assured by management that security patrols every hour and would patrol more often the next night; my husband not only called the front desk to alert staff of the issue but also had to walk to the front desk and make the security guard and staff members walk with him to listen to the noise and knock on doors. Once the issue was addressed things returned to normal. As I was tidying up the room to leave I found an empty Dasani water bottle behind one of the night stands. We quickly excited the hotel and did not look back.
Although, I was very pleased with managements rapport and willingness to accommodate the compensation failed in comparison to our time spent addressing the issues. Needless to say we will not be returning back to...
Read moreSpent a week at Staybridge Suites Chesapeake with my daughter, her husband and their four children. We had two suites. The suites were comfortable and clean when we arrived. The location was perfect near everything and very assessable. The pool and hot tub clean and stocked with towels. The morning breakfast was good and a treat when you have four young children. Unfortunately, here is where my review becomes negative. My daughter's room had an air conditioner unit that leaked for 4 days. It was never repaired and continued to flood the room. She was eventually moved to another room. The flood was inconvenient for several reason including requiring her to wash clean clothes. Thankfully, the hotel had a washers and dryers although many of them were out of service. As we checked out she spoke to the manager about receiving a reasonable discount for the inconvenience. She was told their was nothing they could do because she booked through Expedia and she would have to call them. We left and my daughter called Expedia who told her that was incorrect. She would have to call the Staybridge. Of course, that is what my daughter did and she was put on hold for 20 minutes. She was only able to get through to the front desk because I gave her my phone and then the front desk answered. They responded that they would only give her a $38.00 discount. They were not apologetic or accommodating in anyway. In fact they were downright rude. I will not say all the staff rude but the morning servers were generally unpleasant and angry if you came to breakfast with 30 minutes left to serve. Often there were no plates, forks or spoons and we were left to using cups to serve ourselves because they were so nasty. Our suites were rarely cleaned or stocked. We had to repeatedly ask for toilet paper. We put out own trash out and generally it would be picked up in a day or two. As I said if you want a nice place to stay the Staybridge Suites is acceptable. If you are looking for staff to make your stay a pleasant experience...
Read moreEdit for the "operations manager": way to miss the entire point of my review. How long does a current guest need to extend their current stay, you never actually specified here or when you were being incredibly rude to me the day i tried to extend my stay and you offered to put my family up in Norfolk on the other side of the tunnel and far from the hospital I was at. If you don't understand that is not how to treat guests at your hotel, especially when they can see that rooms were available that sunday online, then I'm not sure why you even responded to this review. Out of 3 associates we spoke with, only one was pleasant. We needed to extend our stay because my hospital stay was extended and were unable to do so because they overbooked the hotel. Though online, there were rooms available. For a hotel brand that claims to treat their members well, they certainly did not. The front desk became rude when I suggested that they offer the deal they offered me to someone that wasn't checked in yet to book at a partner hotel. They only have minimal parking because the back side of the hotel parking is for local businesses and only access to the front for entrances. Our room was in the very back of the hotel and I was 9 months pregnant, so when I went into labor I had to walk the entire hotel to get to the front so I could make it to the hospital because they have the side door under construction. We had the opportunity to stay at closer hotels to the hospital and chose staybridge because in the past, at other locations, we've found them to have far superior customer service. This location does not fit that. We should have stayed at the other locations and been treated with dignity and respect. We will not be using staybridge or their associates in the future as most of them have lower end amenities, and the customer service was why we typically stayed with them. Plus their member program ripped me off of points at a stay and it was pain to...
