My 13 year old son was insistent we spend our one lunch on our layover day in Chicago at the original Pizzeria Uno. We finally gave in because he really wanted to go and we wanted to make the trip special for him. I have never regretted a dining decision more and I say that as someone who has had food poisoning from Wendy's chilli. When we arrived at the restaurant the hostess says they can seat us in a booth and we are like "sounds great". The booth is comically small. Like I had more leg room on the plane ride into Chicago Midway. Then the waiter comes over and he's clearly high out of his mind. He asks us for our drink order and we keep it simple with water and two iced teas. It takes him like 20 minutes to get the water and he spills on our younger son and does not notice. Needless to say, we ask for napkins. He says he will get them and also tells us food is a 45 minute wait to cook. We are annoyed at this point but we try to keep our spirits up and we order. After giving our order (a medium half cheese/half veggie and an individual four cheese and pesto) it is clear he is not in a state of mind to even remotely register our order and he doesn't write it down so odds are about 15/85 at this point that we will get the right order. Meanwhile, he never brings the napkins I asked for and in fact, actually tries to take our order a second time before saying to himself "oh wait I already took their order" and walking away. The two other tables we could tell were in his section were equally pissed off. One other member of the wait staff came over to one of those tables and apologized for high waiter guy "forgetting they were in his section"(???!!) and took she their order instead (we were jealous). Super baked waiter guy comes around one other time and asks our little guy if he wants more milk to which we told him he had water. He ignores this and mentions him having milk at least two additional times. Stoned waiter brings out our food 50 minutes later and got my 13 year old's order of an individual four cheese and pesto right (shocking!) but the half cheese half veggie pizza my husband, toddler and myself ordered comes out as a half cheese half GIANT SLAB OF MEAT ON BREAD WITH SAUCE ON IT. it was disgusting. Remember we ordered VEGGIE. But that was an improvement over the other table next to us who NEVER EVEN GOT THEIR FOOD. They were talking about just leaving when we got up to get our check. Which by the way, is clearly not the standard procedure, but we were pretty confident bong bro wasn't going to come around again with the check so we went to the hostess booth, asked for the check, paid cash and left. On the bright side, now we have a ridiculous story to tell whenever anyone brings up...
Read moreUno Pizzeria offers an outstanding dining experience that I cannot recommend highly enough, especially for those who want to savor an authentic deep dish pizza. From the moment you walk through the door, you’re greeted with a warm, inviting atmosphere that perfectly complements the hearty, delicious food they serve. While many people flock to popular chains like Giordano’s for Chicago-style pizza, Uno Pizzeria stands out as the true originator of this iconic dish, and it shows in every bite.
The food here is simply awesome. The deep dish pizza is hands down the best I’ve ever had—it’s everything a deep dish should be. The crust is perfectly golden and buttery, with just the right amount of crunch on the outside and soft, flaky layers inside. The sauce, rich and tangy, strikes a perfect balance with the generous layers of cheese, and the fresh toppings are always bursting with flavor. Every ingredient seems carefully chosen to create a pizza that is not just a meal, but an experience.
Uno’s isn’t just about pizza, though. Their menu offers a variety of options that showcase the same dedication to quality and flavor. Whether you’re in the mood for a hearty pasta dish, a fresh salad, or one of their delicious appetizers, you’re in for a treat. Everything is prepared with great care and attention to detail, making it clear that this isn’t just a typical pizzeria—it’s a place where food is crafted with passion.
The service at Uno Pizzeria is equally perfect. The staff are attentive and friendly, making sure every guest feels welcome and well taken care of. They’re knowledgeable about the menu and eager to help you find exactly what you’re in the mood for, whether you’re a first-time visitor or a regular. Our server went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed without being intrusive, and it made the experience all the more enjoyable.
What really sets Uno apart from the rest, though, is the authenticity. While some chain restaurants offer their version of deep dish pizza, they often fall short of the real deal. Uno Pizzeria, as the birthplace of the original deep dish pizza, gives you a taste of history along with your meal. You can feel the legacy in every bite, knowing you’re enjoying the pizza exactly as it was meant to be made, with no compromises or shortcuts.
In short, if you want to experience deep dish pizza the way it was intended—rich, flavorful, and absolutely unforgettable—Uno Pizzeria is the place to go. Skip the chains and come here for...

Host took us to our seat, no wait. The overall resturant design is unique and interesting. It has a vintage style to it, but it's quite small tho.
Waiter took our order at 1:24pm with our drinks:
• Deep Dish Specialty Pizzas Numero Uno Small 24.99
• Spaghetti Pasta 15.99
Our waitress was an black older lady wearing glasses. No introduction of our waiter's name nor asking what we want to drink. She showed up about 10 mins later with slight attitude saying, "Have you ordered yet? What would you like to order and what to drink?" My partner ordered pizza and I ordered Spaghetti. As we spoke to her, she didn't repeat or respond to our order. I wasn't sure if she heard me so I repeated myself. After she was done writing in her notepad, she asked if I want my Spaghetti before pizza or after. I said at the same time, because I was obviously with my significant other and you'd want to eat at the same time.
Waiting time for food 1:25pm - 1:57pm. Overheard that pizza takes about 35 to 45 mins to bake depending on size.
Pizza came out, but was told my Spaghetti was forgotten. Told me that it's in process of making, then was asked again if I wanted my Spaghetti after pizza and I said I'd prefer my Spaghetti. She left and came back with the salad and said, "Might as well eat this first."
Pasta was done at 2:04pm. It took 7 mins to make a Spaghetti?
We did not leave til 2:30pm. Waiter wasn't around as much to check up on us. We notice she was being a bit rude to other customers too, because all tables were so close to each other, we could hear others complaining about the waitress.
At the end, I had to catch her as she was about to pass us. I asked for 2 boxes and our check. She looked at our food and said, "yall barely touched anything" and took our food. I was wondering why she took the food. Maybe to throw it away already?? But we saw that she was packing it for us in the back.
She came out with a bag of our food and an electronic device like a Zioks POS. She didn't let me review the receipt. She said, "press here and here." When the receipt was printed and getting ready to leave, I noticed she took a $10 tip from me. Honestly she didn't deserve it.
In honest truth, our first experience wanting chicago pizza was slightly bad and not as appetizing. I expected more professionalism from a place that was recommended by influencers. The only thing I dislike was the service.
Maybe in the future, I'll give it...
