Had an afternoon free and decided to come here for a Tuesday matinee. Unfortunately I should have chosen a different theatre. As someone with a back injury I would normally take the elevator but it was out of order. Thankfully the escalator *seemed to be working.. that is until I got to the landing and saw the second up elevator was not working. I looked around for signs to see if they offered an option for people injured or with disabilities but saw zero signage trying to point anyone who needed assistance going up the stairs any other option. After slowly carefully climbing the second escalator, which was at least just over two flights of stairs, I calmly waited for my friend to meet me. While I was waiting I watched 3 different elderly people huffing their way up because as with me they didn’t see any other option. Then to my dismay I saw AN ELDERLY BLIND PERSON making their way up and that is when I chose to speak up and ask why they were not ADA compliant. The person working informed me that if any of us, myself the 3 elderly people, OR THE BLIND PERSON needed assistance we should have called the number listed on the elevator. I t was the smallest print sign under a very large print OUT OF ORDER SIGN. I will include a picture.. I then asked what he was talking about because the only sign I had seen was an out of order sign and ONLY ON THE elevator. NO WHERE was it posted near or on the first floor alerting anyone to the fact the second escalator would be broken. AND NO WHERE on the landing in between escalators was there any sign giving any other option patrons to get upstairs. This is completely not ADA compliant and illegal. When I asked them to post clear signs where elderly, injured or, disabled people could see and be aware they rolled their eyes and asked if I’d like to speak to the manager. I said no I only request signs as per the law for anyone needing assistance. To top it off it was 85+ degrees out today and their air conditioning is broken… when I left there were STILL no clear signs anywhere on the first landing except for an “out of order” only on the elevator with the smallest print underneath on ripped paper saying call that absolutely no one saw. AMC you should be ashamed...
Read moreWas there 10/23/2023 in theater 6 on the sixth floor for the 6pm show of Killers of the Flower Moon.
The elevator was down in the main lobby and we had to be escorted through their load in section to the service elevator. The people who escorted us to the service elevator, a gentleman when we arrived, and the lady when we departed were very friendly and kind however. Have to note we were with my sister in a wheelchair who is disabled.
Second, the Hispanic/Latino male on the third floor working that shift to scan in people's online/app-bought tickets from 6 to about 9:30pm (our duration in and out of the theater) does not like his job. He was not even at his station when we arrived. He was off at the bar talking to his coworker, even saw us walking up and yet did not even approach us as we were waiting for our tickets to get scanned. We had to approach the girl at the onsite box office register and she pointed out he was supposed to help us, and he looked very bothered that we interrupted his chit chatting with his coworker at the bar. He even gave us the wrong instructions to which floor we needed to go to get to our theater. As we departed, when I needed to request to be escorted to their service elevator due to my sister being in a wheelchair that same Hispanic/Latino male refused to even turn around, and talk to me to my face, and just pointed over his shoulder in a snark tone, "she will help you".
Third, the acoustics are not the best. We watched Killers of the Flower Moon in theater 6 and could hear and sense the vibrations of the sound of the Taylor Swift movie playing in theater 7 throughout the movie. Very distracting.
Lastly, the food and drinks were great and the staff who brought us the food were lovely too. It's a fun dine in experience while watching a movie.
I'd find out who was that male working the scanning station on 10/23/2023 between 6 and 9:30 and talk with him a bit. If he was having a bad day and/or doesn't like his job, he shouldn't take that out on your patrons, especially those who rely on assistance when we're with someone in a wheelchair and the main elevator being down.
Upon calling and speaking with Angela, the manager, the next day she was very...
Read moreI'm from small town south, the land of crappy movie theaters, and don't have L.A. to compare this too, but, I was underwhelmed, when I had been excited. The concept is good, but it's really poorly done here. I was frustrated going in because the escalator up was broken, then the elevators had no instruction and I couldn't get it to work, it may have been I was pushing an incorrect floor. However, this wasn't a flight of stairs but think 2-3 stories on a non-moving escalator which sucks for people with short legs.
After trudging up the flight, the ticket people were playing games on their phones, cool, but they really couldn't be bothered to tell me where to go. Which, I've never been here before and there are multiple floors of theaters. I got some over priced popcorn (that's universal) and found the butter wasn't working, even when there are three different buttons that all say push here...and the self-serve soda fointaif was pretty much out everything. Also, I requested a medium drink, but got the large, some how medium wasn't an option, but it'd be a nice option, as I'd just refill my own drink at the self serve station....
After finding my theater I proceeded to go up the single lane escalator, where a guy was trying to charge past me to his movie. I wasn't in a rush, so stood.my ground with him huffing behind me, but, the escalators are narrow within the theater.
Chairs were kind of weird, it is more like a love seat I got to share with a stranger. No bueno. Also, you absolutely can hear the bass from the theaters around you, someone had mentioned that....
Finally, as I was leaving, back to non-working escalator, it decided to work in one section and then not the other. One thing, as I was trudging down the esclescal, was just how dark it was, I really couldn't see. The picture doesn't do a good job but I worried I was going to fall on my face, but then had a nice vision of getting mugged, especially since I had been spending some time with see fairly agressive panhandlers at the bottom of the escalator before my movie.
So, don't go alone, don't go if you're not ready to hike, don't go if you want customer help/service, and don't go if you want butter on...
