So, I went to this store Monday. I searched it out because I had heard so many good things about it. To say that I am sorely disappointed is an understatement. I walked in and was not greeted at all. Instead there was a young lady standing behind the counter arms folded and frowning. I was tempted to leave right then, but I didnāt. Down the isle I went where I encountered another young lady, seemingly doing everything she could to not make eye contact, and still no greeting. Down every isle I walked, on the first floor, looking for a particular product, which they didnāt have. Ran into a young man stocking shelves and rolling a cart, no hello, no excuse me, nothing. No one asked if I needed help finding anything or what I may have been searching for. I went to the counter where I encounter the second young lady mentioned above and I asked if there were more products on the second floor or was it only wigs and weave, she stated the latter.
First of all I am disappointed at the lack of hair car products offered at this establishment. The thought that an entire floor needs to be solely dedicated to selling hair is baffling to me. I understand that there is a huge market for it but this black owned business seems to have completely left out the community of us who care for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIāve been locād for five years and never switched up my lookāuntil one of my friends encouraged me to try something different for a big gala I had coming up. I stopped by Urban Boutique in Bronzeville, and when I tell you they helped me find the perfect wig for the eventābelieve it! I got so many compliments that night.
The young ladies were so helpfulāboth downstairs with the hair products and upstairs where they helped me choose the unit. I felt completely supported through the whole process.
I love shopping at Urban Boutique because itās Black-owned and Black-run, right here in the heart of Bronzeville. I even stop in for everyday necessitiesāwhether itās edge control or lashes, theyāve got everything, and itās all priced just right.
One day I needed something randomāpink bows for a baby shower gameāand sure enough, they had the cutest ones that fit my budget perfectly.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had a negative experience with the customer service at this store. While I understand that not everyone needs to be overly cheerful, as no one is perfect, I do expect to receive some assistance when I ask for it. Unfortunately, I had to wait over 30 minutes on the 2nd floor before someone finally showed up. Then, instead of helping me, they went to the storage area to do other tasks. On another occasion, some months ago, I received assistance from a girl who forgot to check the storage area for the hair I wanted. After my request, she proceeded to help other customers for 20 minutes and then began other work-related tasks right in front of me. I had to remind her of my request. Typically, I am efficient in my shopping at beauty supply stores since I know what items I want and have alternative options in mind when I arrive. Yet, at this store, it takes me an excessive amount of time (30-45 minutes) to receive assistance, which is...
