Bad Experience. I was traveling with my baby and decided to stop here because it was the cheapest in town. The place is owned by a family, and at first the lady of the family was very nice. I settled into my room, which did have a scent, and checked to make sure windows and doors were locked before bed. I noticed that the bathroom window was left unlocked and I locked it. I left the bathroom light on as a night light for my baby. As I was dozing off, I heard a rattle on the window in the bathroom. I went to see what was happening, and saw a person trying to break into my room through the window. I got very frightened by this, and I started video chat with my husband through my phone. My husband was recording the conversation as I was quickly packing my things, just in case anything happened. I went back to look if the stranger was still outside the bathroom window, and no one was there anymore. My husband suggested that I called the police or speak to the front office. With my first initial impression of the lady, I decided to leave out the police drama and prevent her a bad review because of this stranger. I understood that they are a "mom and pop" shop, and figured they would appreciate me for this. With the stranger gone, I felt safe enough to leave the room and speak to the front desk. I told the lady about my experience, and I can say for certain that I did this very sweetly and was civil. The lady responded to me that I was just "seeing things." I told her I wanted to stay somewhere else, again, very nicely, and she gave me another key to a different room instead of a refund. Meanwhile, she knows I'm on video chat with my husband, and she states that the area is so safe so she leaves the windows unlocked, and there's no way someone could get in the rooms because its blocked off. I leave without a refund. As I was pulling out, I quickly noticed that she lied to me because there was a dark unlit alley outside all the bathroom windows that was very accessible. I head towards Days Inn where I had a great experience. I returned in the morning, and requested my refund. The lady said she could not do this because she reserved a room for me, however, there was around 20 empty rooms available. She also stated that she doesn't know if I actually stayed in her motel room; even though I had a Day's Inn receipt. I kept a very calm, civil, and sweet attitude towards her, even though she started to become very rude, talking over me, not listening to me, and loud. I finally let it go, and left. I decided when I made it home to report this, because I would hate for another person to be in the same position that I was in. Where I paid for a room I didn't stay in at a unsecured motel with my baby, and became terrified because a stranger tried to break into my room. It was horrible, and I'm glad I made it out of that situation okay. Thankfully I was awake when the event took place. Before contacting law enforcement, I attempted one last time to see if the lady would be civil, mature, and treat me nicely as I was treating her, and refund me for the room since I didn't stay at her facility. She said "I've been doing this for years! Do what you gotta do! I never said I leave the windows unlocked!" (Even though I have a recording of that due to my husband's video chat with me.) I had in no way been speaking to her aggressively, just with kindness. As she became more aggressive, I said, "unfortunately, since you are unable to speak to me in a civil and non-aggressive manner, even though I've been very understanding and kind with you, I can no longer have this conversation with you." Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if she responds to this post aggressively. I feel like I was taken advantage of. I contacted law enforcement to file a report. I'm sure the lady felt she had to defend herself because of her "mom and pop" shop and little business, it just didn't have to be aggressive since I was nice to her, also, my safety was at risk which explains her huge defense mechanism. This post is in hopes that no one else experiences...
Read moreThe reviews seemed to be so outstanding that I thought I had truly scored a tremendous deal at 45 bucks. My rating scale might be different from some. Here is how a place gets a star: Clean gets one. Nice, hot shower with good pressure gets one. Comfortable bed gets one. Workable AC which lowers the temp to 65 gets one. Luxurious feel gets one. Based on that, this place would get two stars. One for a comfortable bed and one for a hot shower with good pressure. However, I gave it 3 because it was so cheap and what can you truly expect for that money? It felt really dirty to me. I was going to put some ice bags in the freezer in the small refrigerator in the room, but the refrigerator was inoperative. In the process, I got a small amount of water on the shelf above the non-working refrigerator. I found a cloth in the bathroom to wipe it up and the cloth was very brown after wiping up the water. I thought I would see if the refrigerator was unplugged or something so I got down on my knees to follow the connection to a power strip. It was plugged in, but it was obvious no one had cleaned this "out of sight" are for quite some time. I don't like dirty, regardless of how old or how new a facility is. The lady who checked me in was quite friendly, but there was an older gentleman who was kind of "watching" the front for her who had the personality of that damp cloth I had to use. Overall, I would not return, unless I only had 45 dollars in my wallet for a roof. I like cheap, but not at the expense of cleanliness. Looking at some of the other reviews, perhaps I got a really bad room, but since I only saw one other vehicle in the parking lot besides mine, they would likely have not picked the dirtiest one to give me. Also, a pet peeve is the AC was really old and could not be set...
Read moreThis was such a great place to stay. I have stayed at many places when I visit Childress two times a year and this was my first time trying this. Honestly I had my reservations because it was low price and old so I assumed I wouldnt like it. now that I've stayed there it will be my go to choice. The room price was very low. The management couple we're so kind. They welcomed us in and also asked if we needed help unloading. The room was very spacious. We got a room with a long bed and to my surprise it had a futon couch inside. I loved that because I got to have my own bed instead of sharing with my mom. It was very clean. Of course it didn't smell great. You can tell it's an old hotel. But turning the air conditioner fixed that problem. I also needed to check out later because my mom was visiting with my brother and I had my young kids with me and I didn't want to sit in the car for a long time. They gave me all the time I needed. Very sweet couple. The beds we're also super comfortable. The bathroom is quite small but it makes the room bigger. I thought the showerhead was bad at first but it actually gave a good back scratch. Thank you to the managers for the...
