Motel 6 Childress, TX — Hotel in Childress

Loved the fridge, table/chairs, and especially the ports by the bed... BUT when we arrived the desk clerk was less than friendly! We we we're a four vehicle caravan moving my son & wife to Tampa FL from Denver CO.... We had two rooms. One of our party arrived about 40 minutes ahead of the rest, and asked if she could go to one room & wait for us... She was given a fitm NO... She asked if she could use the restroom and was told that wasn't allowed... My son called eariler in the day and gave card number to guarantee the rooms. In order for the lady to be able to relive herself the clerk said she'd have to pay for the room, so she did. When I arrived with my daughter-in-law as my son needed to stop at Walmart and sent his wife - Mother to check-in... I gave her our name and explained the situation and her first question was did we have pets. I said yes and she asked how many? I told her, two crated cats and one dog... She informed me that was too many, there could only be two (offered no explanation)... We had driven about 12 hours through much snow, icy roads, bad visibility... 4 vehicles, four people, and 3 animals( one too many) a little over 500 miles and I thought we'd have to find another hotel and one had already been paid for! After a few questions she explained that it was 2 per room... So no problem we had 2 rooms... But we couldn't have a key to the other room... my son had to check in... So when he arrived, instead of helping unload animals and personal bags, he had to go to office and check in... I also will add the temperature was on the teens and we were all starving!! My point... She didn't realize what all we had gone through, but the main reason we chose Motel 6 is that "pets are welcome" and any traveler no matter the trial of their trip, expects a friendly greeting and a smile would have helped... Instead she was very unfriendly and looked like she hated the world... But for the clerk, the room was very clean and fully stocked... I would recommend Motel 6 but if the were going through Childress, I'd warn them... It seemed that night and with that clerk the "light hadn't been left on" for our party... I am sending this from Motel 6 in Mobile Alabama ... The rooms are also very clean with all the new amenities but the reception was was world's away from 2 days ago... Great experience.

We loved our room we booked and checked in around 9pm. Our room was clean. The cleaning service here is top-notch! Best crew in the hotel. Beds where we'll made. Smelled cleaned when we walked in. Floors were clean. Bathrooms beautiful. It truly felt great when we walked into our room.

The rooms are remodeled. Yet, they refurbished some old items. Our room had a modern 70s vide to it.

I noticed things our two beds booking didn't have that most hotels today have was a cozy couch. A dresser (although it does have a small corner selves to put your clothes in and a minimal hangers, which I thought was cute). May be an issue for big families and long stay.

The shower water was hot! We had the perfect amount of towels. The Downside is that they did not have shampoo or conditioner when we walked, but you can request it in the front lobby. No problem.

When we stayed, the WiFi seemed to be off. So that was a bit on an issue if you are needing to get some work done. But it also seemed be a problem in the morning when we walked to Starbucks.

Best dog friendly place you can stay at. Max 2 pets. Dogs are free if they are well-behaved and also have a great spot to have them potty.

The beds were size full. We got a good rest for our continued trip.

Best hotel experience on our 29 hr road trip! We arrived 1 day ago exhausted. We were a little early for check-in so they told us a room would be freshly ready in 1 hr. It was. Even the housekeeper signaled it was ready for us. It was the cleanest room. You walked in to a lightly fresh bleach smell. No nasty carpet, it was a wooden beautiful floor. We had just stayed at the worst hotel ever the night prior on our trip and didn't sleep all night. The interior decor of this Motel 6 was adorable, clean and beautiful. It's just like the pictures and more. We had the best stay and the best sleep in nights. The bedding, everything was so fresh and clean. The shower is amazing! Clean, beautiful, great amount of heat and the pressure was perfect. They have DirecTV on a flat panel in the room. It seems to be family run and they are very sweet. The housekeepers apparently work very hard providing a very thorough cleaning in all the rooms. We really appreciated this stay. Thank you for going above and beyond.
