My husband and I travel the country for work. We have tried food all across the nation. This was an amazing find! The chicken fried steak was impeccable! Hand battered in this perfectly seasoned crispy crust and we cut it with a fork! The green beans melt in your mouth! The gravy was perfect! The plating was that of high end restaurants! It was perfect portions and all aesthetically placed perfectly. Oh and let’s not forget the wonderful corn cowboy bites! They are not the plain old corn nuggets so don’t be fooled! They are so very much more and dipped in the homemade ranch! Wow! That’s the food review! Now let’s talk about the staff, the owner is just delightful and so was the server as well, I believe maybe her daughter. She was mild spoken and polite which isn’t very common anymore, they were quick to refill and check in on us as they walked by while waiting others around. It was a treat to watch this well oiled machine work. As we walked out to pay my husband asked to speak to the cook. He was a very nice gentleman and my husband told him how we travel and chicken fried steak is one of his favorite dishes, this one was the best he has ever had. He tipped the cook and that was our detour into the amazing G-10’s Bar and Grill. Thank you all for a great meal and dining experience you have no idea how much this is appreciated and cherished from two people who live on the road! I wish I would have taken pictures however we were too excited by the whole dining experience and...
Read moreOn the road again with my beautiful wife here in Childress Texas today and another blessing of great food and even better people!! As always we read up on reviews of potential restaurants or any type place that’ll serve some road worried grub. G-10’s is your place if you are driving that long stretch of HWY 287 either from or to Amarillo TX. The staff is great they care about the food and you. The owner is the perfect host and adds her imprint of perfect homemade seasoning to the food. Then the mistral in the kitchen adds the all important cook and finish on his creations. The waitress was spot on with her role as well. She read our minds about the homemade ranch for the amazing Corn balls. Get them you won’t be disappointed. We had the Chicken Fried steak with great tenderness and flavor. (Cut with a fork only and the crust stayed in place) mash potatoes again the prep and seasoning as you’d always wanted but never had at a restaurant. The green beans more of the same. And lastly the slice of Texas Toast with a perfect light char to the buttery edges. Salt and pepper are not necessary. Thank you for such a treat. We travel coast to coast year around for our jobs in heavy equipment operations and demolition these places always make our long days driving so much better. Stop in here and give them a try. Truly make life so much better....
Read moreThis place is a little difficult to spot off the main drag in town, but we're so glad we found it. We walked in and were greeted and seated by a very nice girl who we learned is the daughter of the family who owns this bar and grill. They have a full bar, so I ordered a long Island which was one of the better one's I've had in a while. Service was quick and friendly. The menu is small but has a nice variety. We got fried mozzarella and potato skins to start which was really good. Two of us got burgers and one an order of fried catfish. The flavor was excellent and the hand-cut fries were fresh. The owner came out and checked on us, and we had a great conversation about the history of the restaurant. We finished with an order of molten chocolate cake and banana pudding. Definitely worth the calories. With several food options in Childress, this is definitely a safe bet for...
