Huge let down! Hotel staff have lost all sense of hospitality! Manager has terrible attitude that the customer is always wrong or suspect, and every request should be met with ‘no’ and has passed this totalitarian viewpoint along to his staff.. I once asked them to please ask pool partiers to lower the screaming a bit, she looked as though I’d made the most preposterous request she could imagine and she would ask the manager lol. Instead of feeling for the disturbance caused to a customer, her instinct was to check with her boss to see if my concern was valid and whether or not she had to do something about it. Some hospitality. For more examples for those who like specifics, read later.
More of the hotel- -soft beds, Definitely the best part of the place! -Super short (2min)walk to 7 Mile casino, which has the best action in town IMO. The food is great and poker goes 24hr. -No windows in the rooms which is kind of a bummer but all rooms non smoking so that's great. -The TVs are nice and big and allow for HDMI connections which is very convenient for your portable streaming devices. Small downside: They've deprogrammed the remote to no longer be able to control the brightness of the screen, for those of you with sensitive eyes, it can be relentlessly bright at night. the café has really good food, they put effort into the menu, and switch up the drinks and snacks available. Closes at 3 PM however, so if you are a nighttime operator, your opportunities here will be extremely limited. Big Bright Lights outside rooms keep place lit well, pay special attention to the blinds if you are one who's bothered by rays of light at night. Depending on time of year, many of the rooms are nearly daylight by 6 AM regardless of what you do with the blinds. The AC systems from 80s have a tendency to either blow tepid air or blast Cold enough to make your eyes water, either way you can’t Control the direction of the flow so standing in certain areas of the room Will get you blasted regardless of temperature.
All in all, it's a room. Neither delivers on more or less then other basic hotels. Fine for a night or two, wouldn't look to stay longer. I'm not sure when as a society we decided Hotels of this caliber are worth a hundred+ dollars per night, or over 3k/mo, but sadly this is the case, and these hotels don’t feel they have to deliver on anything more than what’s listed here, and adequately at that, to get that price from customers. A bitter pill to swallow, but one that would go down a lot smoother with a friendlier, more hospitable, and caring attitude towards customers.
Examples of Rambler responses: Poker next door at 7Mile til 5 AM, Hotel Pool starts blasting ‘BORN IN THE USAAA’ at 817am. It’s a Tuesday. No one's at the pool, place looks deserted. Go to front, request they turn it down.Guy looks skeptical and says, ‘I mean I can ask, but the music is something we do’. Music never lowered a decibel. Different stay weeks later there are kids fighting at the pool, which is hours of shrieking from the little one as the big one chases him. Ask front desk to simply request they scream less. ‘I spoke to the manager and he said they have a right to be there, so until pool closes at 9 PM nothing I can do‘. As for my right to not hear blood-curdling screams? Meh. Same response to Wi-Fi down for a week. Told me I was only customer having problems, nothing they can do, gave me an IT number.. On phone for an hour when the lead tech got on and said Service was out for the whole hotel, had been for hours, this is first he’s hearing of it. Nice. Bad cell reception and no Wi-Fi leaves you semi-stranded. When paying a hotel premium to ensure lodging and internet connection, you think those essentials will be regarded as such. For a week, they never acknowledged or apologized for this severe impedance to our day to day activity / navigation/ accessibility, nor the fact that this was a clear failure to deliver their side of our transaction....
Read moreThis place is a joke!! We booked directly with the motel the day prior to our stay speaking to two staff members at the motel via two separate phone calls.
Unfortunately, the answers we received from the two representatives during the two phone calls did not match with what we got and were told on those phone calls. What makes matters even more disappointing is that we followed up these phone calls in the pre-registration text message response. Essentially, covering in text message what was discussed on the phone. I was told that pre check in is a formality and “we” don’t look at or consider those requests. Okay
We drive a semi truck. We only had our truck tractor with us no trailer. After gaining permission to have the truck on hotel property we requested a room with a king bed located near where are truck would be parked. Seems reasonable? Right? We were told no problem. That didn’t happen. When I questioned this I was told that we could get a room around back with two beds. We’d be closer to the truck we were told by a young, cocky front desk employee who could care less.
This didn’t work for us. A king bed so husband and wife could sleep together was what we reserved and paid for. Nothing was done. Deal with it was what the now the words from the General Manager. After over hearing my discussion with the front desk attendant. Mistakes are make he said. With this I could really care less stance/response.
What makes this simple situation complicated and disappointing is we’ve already been billed for the room the night before check in… Hence the attitude of deal with it from the front desk guy and now General Manager.
We also needed to do laundry, asked if there were facilities on site, we’re told yes. Asked if change would be available (quarters) told yes, we could purchase a roll of quarters at check-in. 3:30 on Saturday afternoon during check in there was not a roll of quarters available to buy. Asked for three dollars in quarters to at least start a load of laundry. No change available I’m told. Okay 0for2 and hadn’t even gotten our keys.
Obviously in the grand scheme of things neither situation is going to ruin the stay. The issue thus far is the approach, response and attitude of both the front desk staff and his General Manager. Customer service or satisfaction is not even a consideration. Combined with they’ve already been paid prior to check in. Anyway, 7am the next morning I get up, go and find quarters and proceed to the onsite laundry facilities only to find them locked.
I go to the front desk explaining I can’t get in…I get two new coded keys head back to the laundry. Still can’t get in. I then get a call from the front desk…I’m told the hours of the laundry room aren’t open til 9am. I’m thinking to myself, why wasn’t I told this on the phone? And why wasn’t I given this information when two news keys were coded for me in the office? Or why aren’t the hours posted somewhere that a customer is aware of those hours and can adjust accordingly.
My guess is that I’m completely unrealistic in expecting any of these issues are really issues!! I get it My position is this. I took the time to call this establishment, ask relevant questions, inquire about basic services and basic requests which require at best straight forward responses. Only to be blown off upon arrival with a distinct we really don’t care attitude, oh well response.
I would never consider this motel ever again not because of the condition of the room. It was nice…However, the lack of professionalism combined with attitude of I don’t really care about your petty issues speaks volumes especially in lieu of we’ve got your money already deal with it. One last major observation is this. I’m an older white man in a very brown community. It was apparent to me that this was as much an issue if not more than anything else. It’s very unfortunate but truthfully I felt that race played a huge roll in what would otherwise been basic easy to...
Read moreCute fixed up old-school motel. I like to stay near but not necessarily in the city when I have a car, with free parking, and this checks all the boxes. There really isn't much directly near the hotel without driving. Not what i would consider walkable. A casino a couple doors down that I think I read has resturant. There are restaurants and Walmart a few miles away on E street. They close one of the entrances at some point in the evening and all day sometimes.
Pros: Price, free parking, for me the location far enough away but within 15-20 mins of everything, room size is decent, lots of bed pillows, nice room furniture and paint, ice machines, pool, on-site cafe/store. Movies by the pool is a good idea but extremely loud. The area feels decently safe. The staff were friendly and helpful. The lobby area has fun vibes. The pictures pretty much represent what you get structurely. Possibly the best water pressure and hot water I've ever had at a hotel. Heck, it might be better than my house even.
The cons and why I reduced one star: 1. NOISE, there is a lot of noise. Most of the noise is inconsiderate people staying around you, and not much the motel can do. Since parking is right outside your room, you hear a lot of people coming and going, unloading their cars, rolling suitcases up and down tbe sidewalk, kids running around, doors slamming, standing outside smoking and talking, etc. You can hear room to room nosie too, i could hear a guy around us, probably above, pee. The people beside us started arguing about 7.30 am. That was kinda of entertaining for awhile. Car noise and even train noise at times. 2.Our room is non-smoking, yet the bathroom area smelled like pot, and it then spreads into the room. There must be weird ventilation from the bathroom vent, maybe? Smoke-free premise means all smoke. 3. One night, the fire alarms went off for about 5 mins at 4am, and then we just went back in. Guess it was a false alarm because we are still here, and so is the motel. 4. The vanity and bathroom area needs more light. 5. TV size and channel selection is good however you can't watch it because it lags and says"no signal" continuously.
The reason I reduced a 2nd star is because there is no microwave or refridge and it's actually a bit of a pain if you're traveling with kids. Seems like someone is always hungry or thirsty. A cooler fixes drinks but heating food, you're just screwed.
I'd probably stay here...
