I usually stay here due its proximity and it being close to my places of interest when in town. I never really had a problem but this time around it wasn’t the best. A few things I’d like to mention, upon arrival, the lady checking me in was not necessarily rude but can use some training in terms of being welcoming to guests, or at least not look like you hate your job, like the bare
minimum in hospitality. Now in terms of the room, I booked a standard room so I can’t really complain about the room that is being given, as well as wanted to check in to a room as soon as possible due to the long travel. A few things wrong with the room that I noticed, the bathroom door doesn’t lock. The water in the tub would go down really slow, and lastly the bed sheets had reddish stains to them, considering it was a two bed room I didn’t really care, but I’d just want to mention that the room assigned to me during this stay was probably the worst one by far, in which I’ve stayed in so far here. Now the main reason why I’m writing this review is because of the poor quality of sleep I received due to someone being kicked out in the middle of the night, and it woke me up cause it sounded like it was next door, initially It felt like it was them knocking on my door cause no one responded and the sound insulation is basically nonexistent. I’m not sure if that was the local police department or the hotel security but it was extremely loud when the incident occurred, enough to wake the entire third floor up. Now the next morning, I missed out on their great breakfast due to the late night inconvenience so I just decided to ask for a late checkout in the morning and was given a 12 pm checkout. Shortly after 11, a woman with sunglasses on , just knocks on the door without announcing who they were, until I opened the door and she asks me “when are you checking out”, and then realizes she didn’t say she was housekeeping so she apologized but , I found this entire interaction unprofessional and hilarious on the housekeeper. It was also unfortunate that the late check out was not communicated properly by the front desk to their housekeeping department as I had to rush out of the shower just to answer the door. I still recommend this IHG property , due to its location and its breakfast. I would also say that the higher deposit amount leads to typically better quality clientele. I just think the communication between the staff as well as the professionalism is subpar unfortunately. In the nicest way possible ,...
Read moreI stay in IHG hotels 85+ nights per year and have never encountered the repeated problems that I have with this particular hotel. I travel for business and pleasure and have stayed in many western states and some central states as well. So, I notice when something is not customary. I write this review because the hotel Manager / Bookkeeper has failed to correct the problems on two occasions, and I think other travelers should have the opportunity know my experiences with this Clovis, CA Holiday Inn Express at 650 West Shaw Avenue, Clovis, California 93612, so they can decide to stay or not stay here.
Issue 1
Upon check-in an "incidental" charge is placed on the company credit card I use (completely normal - usually $50-$75 at most places and I never have to deal with it because the hold gets removed promptly after checking out). But 7 days later, when trying to reconcile my company expenses, I find this $146 credit card charge that does not match up with any hotel stay and has no explanation of what hotel is charging this and what it could be for. The dates don't match up, the dollar amount doesn't match, the billing zip code doesn't, and it became my burden to find who could be charging my company credit card. When this happened once, I delt with it and figured this was an anomaly, but again?
If the Manager / Bookkeeper would have solved my problem quickly without arguing charges will come off in 5-7 days, you wouldn't be hearing about this.
Issue 2
This is minor but paints a little clearer picture of my experiences at this hotel.
I am a Diamond Elite Member based on the number of my IHG stays per year and am usually offered amenity points or a snack upon check-in at most places. I have asked for a bottle of water on several occasions and been told "we ran out". The next stay, "we ran out" I don't believe this. The other IHG hotels I stay at in the area don't seem to run out.
Bottom line - I feel the Clovis IHG hotel staff haven't been trained to care about rewarding brand loyalty, or just don't care, and certainly have some questionable...
Read moreThis is our second stay at this location, both times while our son was playing in the Fresno Easter Classic baseball tournament. This is the hotel the team stays at, so we stayed here as well. Special shout out to Leslie at the front desk who took care of our situation- I had called the number listed online and chose the option to make my reservation about two months prior to out trip. I left the confirmation number at work. When we got there, Leslie could not find my reservation. Being a tournament weekend I panicked, but Leslie got us a room no problem. I later went back and asked if she could find my original reservation using the card I used to reserve it, which she could. She was able to cancel that reservation which the booking line had put under a different name. She suggested that anytime making a reservation to select the option to speak with front desk and do it that way. Our room was amazing. It was a king sized bed with a sofa and two TV's. The bed was a little firm yet still comfortable- my husband slept like a baby which he never does at hotels. The shower head was AMAZING.....I am looking for one like it for home. Perfect water pressure, and steady massage.Breakfast was options were satisfactory for me- eggs, bacon and sausage every morning, as well as biscuits and gravy and an omelet some mornings. I think a hash brown or potato option would be nice. I even had oatmeal one morning. Other options were cereal, pancakes, yogurt, toast, bagels, croissants and the most amazing smelling cinnamon rolls, which I missed out on. My husband enjoyed the small gym each morning, my son likewise used it and also the hot tub and pool. Location is great, Walmart just down the street, as well as Burlington, Ross, Marshall's, At Home, plenty of places to eat- Robles Taquerìa across the street HIGHLY RECOMMENDED-, and just off the 41 off ramp. Very highly recommended if you're staying...
