I recently visited uBreakiFix to repair a minor crack in my phone screen, a crack that was almost unnoticeable. Initially, the staff assured me that my phone would be ready in about 2.5 hours, which I appreciated. However, as closing time approached and I hadn't received a call, I decided to follow up. I was informed that my phone wouldn't be ready until Monday due to a system outage at Samsung. Desperate to have my phone back, I suggested bringing it in on Monday to finish the diagnostics. However, I was told that the only way to retrieve my phone was to reverse the repair. I reluctantly agreed, thinking that they would return it to me in the same condition I had left it. What I received was shocking. My phone was handed back to me in a much worse state: the screen was shattered, not even properly reattached, and it wouldn't turn on at all. Instead of the minor crack I had initially brought it in for, I now have an unusable device. When I raised my concerns with the staff, they marked my phone as "unrepairable," despite it having repaired already. Now, I'm left with no choice but to contact Assurion for a replacement, which adds even more frustration to the situation. Overall, my experience with uBreakiFix was extremely disappointing. I expected professionalism and care, especially regarding my device, but instead, I was left with a damaged and unsuable phone. I cannot recommend their services based on this experience.
UPDATE: Thanks to General Manager Wyatt. He went above and beyond to assist me with my phone issue, reaching out over the weekend on his day off to ensure everything was taken care of. What stood out the most was his willingness to engage in a three-way call with Assurion, advocating on my behalf to secure a replacement device without the hefty deductible of nearly $300.
Wyatt's dedication to customer service is commendable, and his efforts made a stressful situation much easier for me. Every store could benefit from having a General Manager like him. Thank you, Wyatt, for your...
Read moreI called the phone listed, spoke to someone to get a quote for a S22 and Ipad, I was placed on hold for over 20 minutes. Never returned, I ended the call.
Update: I called again a week later and was able to get in touch with someone and made the appt. uBreakiFix fixed a S22 and an IPAD. When the S22 was ready for pick-up, I received a text from the uBreakiFix team was ready. This was on a Monday at around 4pm. I texted back right away and immediately, I received a text that "Thank you for contacting uBreakIFix! We're currently closed but you can contact us during our normal business hours :Mon - Sat 10am - 7pm". Confusing.... I called their number directly, but no answer. I texted back and someone from the uBreakiFix team replied back that they were open.
Besides the phone fiasco, the uBreakiFix team are the nicest people you will ever meet. Very courteous and they explained in detail what they need to do so there are no surprises. Also, while fixing the S22, the camera got damaged during the process. iBreakIFix team called me and explained the situation and provided me with a new updated ETA. I really appreciated this. They could have just said the camera was already damaged, but the team was transparent enough to note this.
I docked 1 star for their phone/vm fiasco. Also, they did fix both of the devices I brought in, but their prices are a bit on the high side. Difference between fixing and getting a used replacement was in the 20-40 dollar range so it's not much of a difference in price. I went with uBreakiFix because of the ETA quoted vs. what it would have taken if I just purchased another device online.
I still give them 4/5 for their tech knowledge, customer sat, for actually fixing the device issues, and for their honesty!! This goes a long way. Thank you uBreakIFix team. I will certainly go back to uBreakIFix team to fix any of my other...
Read moreA very disappointing experience as a first-time customer at this repair business.
My new Google Pixel 7 Pro suffered a manufacture defect causing the camera lens to spontaneously fracture. Google Support informed me that this was a known problem and would be repaired under warranty. I was directed to this uBreakiFix location as an authorized Google repair center. Parts were not available to replace the lens glass, so I waited and returned as soon as I was available.
Within 1 hour of dropping off the phone, we received a call that the motherboard was broken and needed to be replaced...!?!? It was implied that the motherboard was "already" broken, and they only discovered it when opening up the phone for my lens repair. My phone had been COMPLETELY functional up until the hour I left it within their care, yet I am basically told that "sometimes Pixels are like that" and there's nothing they can do except order the part. This leaves me unexpectedly without a phone for anywhere from 3-5 days when this should have otherwise been a 1-2 hour fix. Unacceptable.
In frustration, we contacted Google support to find out what we could do. Google indeed validated that my data history proves the motherboard functional up until just the time when uBreakiFix began working on it. Long story short, I was able to cancel my work order and Google will be sending me a replacement device directly.
uBreakiFix never took any ownership of their mistake. They could not explain to me how a functional phone suddenly experienced a broken motherboard as soon as they tampered with it. There was no sincere apology, or any offer to provide me with a temporary loaner phone. What a disaster.
I could never ever recommend this company in the future and will...
