The security/janitor men are AWFUL. It's one thing to feel safe and another to feel overwhelmingly harassed! My grandparents have a timeshare here and we have been coming every year for the past 15 years. I now have a 10, 9, and 2 year old. Every year has been a 5 star rating until this year. We arrived Sunday and on the 1st day we were approached 4 different times by "security". The first time was because my 10 year old was standing on the luggage cart as I was unpacking the car. Then I accompanied the two older boys to the gym. The rules are 16 and under must be with an adult. 2 of these men came in and didn't address me at all and told them they needed to be very careful because they could smash their fingers. Later that night we went to the Jacuzzi and was told no children under 15 were allowed in the hot tub because it was a liability and were asked to leave. Not even an hour later, about 10 pm, I had a knock on my door. The same man was standing there saying we were causing a noise disturbance and people around us were trying to sleep. He asked why I was moving furniture at that time of night. I explained to him all I did was open the pull out couch. The next day they approached my 9 year old and grandma in the gym. Tuesday night I took the 2 older boys to the pool at about 9:30 pm. We were approached 4 different times in 1 hour by 1 "security" guy. The 1st time he approached the boys and wanted to know why they were alone. I was sitting in the lounge chair the whole time. They told him they weren't and he said, "Where I don't see anyone?" I then made myself known that I was their parent. He yelled at them 2 other times for jumping in the pool from the outside instead of the inner lip of the pool and then from jumpimg off the fountain area. He then approached me wanting to know which room I was from because he needed to know if I was parked in the incorrect parking spot. Umm excuse me? I'm at the pool with my children and it's 9:30 at night. No I wasn't from the room he was looking for, and no I wasn't in the incorrect spot. On Wednesday we were approached in the kids play room and were told they were just 'checking in". I'm so frustrated. This has not been a relaxing vacation from the fear of doing something wrong per security. I have small children and we are on vacation. This is supposed to be a fun time. My kids are not bad kids by any means but they are kids. This week has been awful due to them. I feel the things we were approached for were very pretty and non-stop. I can parent and discipline my...
Read moreI booked a 3 night stay on the resort website and found days that had cheap fares. The total for my stay was just under $400 for 3 nights. I paid for it at the time of booking. I never received a confirmation email about my itinerary which the website said I would receive. So a couple weeks before my stay I called the hotel and asked them to send me a confirmation email with my itinerary, which they did. The stay itself was pretty nice. Nice beach access. The rooms are large and were clean. There is definite difference between this place and a name brand hotel though. This place has a lot of rules, in fact a whole book of them in the room, and it includes many threats of fines if not followed.
The hotel grounds and amenities are mediocre. When I went to check out they advised me that I owed for two nights of my 3 night stay and that the almost $400 I payed was for one of the nights. I quickly explained that is absolutely not true. And pulled up my confirmation email which thankfully I had asked them to send me prior since they did not send it. She had to go through the system and check things out and finally brought my bill to a zero balance and said it was a mistake.
We were not happy about this mishap as it put a damper on our vacation as we were leaving. It was a bit stressful worrying that we would be charged for something we should not be. We asked to talk with a manager about it and the GM was dismissive, she said the website is glitchy and the booking price didn’t come through to them correctly. I told her we booked on their resort website. She said it’s not THEIR Website, it’s the management company in Myrtle Beach that handles the website. As if it matters who handles the website. The point is it’s not acceptable to have GLITCHES like this and I really don’t think the Hilton or another big brand hotel would have such a glitch. I’m sure some people in my situation would have just paid the extra they were told they had to pay unjustly. That is...
Read moreThe Resort on Cocoa Beach. A fair review, the good, the bad.. Family perspective.
The resort is clean. If you are worried about COVID or a dirty room, don’t. Room was clean and maintained.
Other reviews stated the hard beds, they are indeed a firm mattresses. Bring or borrow a pillow top if you need a softer mattress.
The room needs a bit of updating, while I enjoyed my 80’s feel, my wife didn’t. Furnishings are dated, but well maintained.
Eco-friendly. Rooms have all LED LIGHTING. But the owners opted to utilize all “bright white” LED bulbs. They should have used natural white LED bulbs and spend the additional $.23 cents per bulb. It’s really bright and disturbing to the eye.
Check-in. Fast, but I agree with other reviewers, RUDE, UN-FRIENDLY. They tell you all the “DONT’S” but do not welcome you or wish you a pleasant stay.. See photo when we got to room.
There is a small staff that runs around and cleans elevator buttons, luggage carts, game room. They are so pleasant and friendly. Tip them well.
Your Safety during a global pandemic. They have signs all around the hotel and make you sign a sheet regarding COVID protocol, the the general staff does not adhere to it. As a smoker I was in the lobby often to the smoking area. The “Night Auditor” in particular NEVER WORE A MASK”. Doesn’t believe in them. Wear it for me or my kids, not for you...
Beach access. Is great. A short walk on a new pier and boom, you’re on the sand. Showers and Tar removal station at exit, just prior to entering hotel.
Surroundings. Plenty around the hotel for food or drink. Vehicle not required.
Would return, YES. But I believe the general manager needs to better remind staff this this is our vacation and remind staff that the guests are on vacation. Friendliness goes a long way. Smile once and a while, you’re employed because my family spent $$$$...
