Subject: Request for Full Refund and Immediate Resolution Due to Unprofessional Conduct and||Humiliation at Comfort Inn Suites Harbison Columbia||Dear Hotel Manager,||I am writing to express my deep disappointment and frustration regarding the treatment I received||during my recent stay at the Comfort Inn Suites in Harbison. My experience has been nothing short of||humiliating and inconsiderate, both to me and my 11-year-old daughter, who was unfortunately||exposed to an entirely unprofessional situation.||Upon checking in, I was initially pleased with the possible accommodations. However, upon getting to||our room and in the following morning, we were abruptly woken by loud drilling noises and machinery||from the room directly above ours. My 11-yr old daughter, who was not feeling well, was attempting to||rest, and the noise made this impossible. I contacted the front desk to address this issue, hoping for a||swift resolution. Unfortunately, the response I received was disheartening. The attendant (manager)||acknowledged the inconvenience but informed me that no other rooms were available and that we||would just have to endure the disturbance.||After leaving the hotel to allow my daughter to rest elsewhere, we decided to extend our stay from||Friday night, initially checking out on Sunday, to instead checking out on Tuesday, September 3rd. With||an outlook that we can possibly switch our room since this was not the room that we initially paid for. ||This conversation was brought to the attention of the attendant at check-in when we noticed that the||keys describe the third floor and not the top floor. I approached the front desk to inform them of this||||extension, which I had arranged through a third-party service. The attendant assured me that since the||incidental charge had already been processed for our current room, there would be no need for an||additional charge. Especially since we didn't receive the double queen premium room on the top floor,||which we paid extra for. She then extended our reservation and provided us with new keys. With the||assurance of a room change when she spoke to manager for confirmation at her arrival. ||However, around 11:40 AM that same morning, the new keys stopped working, requiring us to return to||the front desk to have them rekeyed. Later that day, when we returned to our room with our dinner in||hand, intending to relax and watch TV, we found that the keys were again not working. Upon inquiry,||the manager explained that the keys had been deactivated intentionally. She informed me that the||attendant who had extended our reservation had failed to collect an additional $50 incidental charge,||which she claimed was my responsibility to pay immediately. Additionally, she also detailed how she||seen me on the cameras making the attempt to come down to pay the incidentals. ||I explained to the manager that my other daughter, who is a paraplegic, had my card for shopping, and I||would settle the incidental charge as soon as she returned with the card. This seemed very reasonable||to me since I came to the front desk on two other occasions to ensure the extension was kosher.||Initially, the manager seemed agreeable to this arrangement, allowing a two-hour delay to make the $50||payment. However, within minutes, her demeanor changed, and she suggested that I did not have to||stay at the hotel. Confused and taken aback, I asked why she would say that to a customer who had||already paid for additional nights in advance. Her response escalated the situation further, leading her||to threaten calling the police for undermining her so called intelligence by stating her actions were||highly unprofessional especially under the circumstance. This happens all in the presence of my 11-||year-old daughter. The entire situation was not only embarrassing but deeply humiliating. ||Feeling unwelcome and demeaned, I decided to gather my belongings and leave the hotel. I did not feel||that patronizing an organization who supposedly specialize in hospitality, yet couldn’t be hospitable was||unagreeable with my morals, values, and terms of agreement of the reservation. As I was doing so, I||witnessed the manager engaging in a heated argument with another African-American guest, who was||facing similar issues with overcharging. This incident, too, I captured on camera. Very unprofessional.||Given the disgraceful and unprofessional behavior I encountered, I am requesting a full refund for the||duration of my stay, from Friday to Tuesday, and that the hotel covers the cost of alternative||accommodations for the remainder of our planned stay, times and hardship of being evicted and bullied||for a prepaid hotel room that I did not stay in or had accommodations I paid for as well as comfort due||to the construction. No guest should be subjected to such flagrant abuse of power and disrespect. ||||I expect a prompt response to this matter and hope that immediate action will be taken to ensure that||no other guest endures such...
Read moreSubject: Discriminatory and Selective Enforcement of Undisclosed Breakfast Policy at Comfort Inn – Harbison, SC
To Whom It May Concern, DO NOT STAY HERE THEY SELECTIVELY ENFORCE WHO CAN BEING FOOD INTO THEIR ROOMS . THE INDIAN WOMAN AT THE DESK CLAIKS THERES POLICY IN BRINGING FOOD TO THE ROOM DAID IT WAS POSTED EVERYWHERE t EXCEPT THERE WASNT ANY SIGNAGE STATING THAT NOT ONLY THAT NO SUCH POLICY ON THR WEBSITE .
When I asked for this policy she told me she felt threatened and intimidated yhen trespassed me . It’s funny that her feelings matter but not my girlfriend who she embarrassed and harassed two days in a row . So according to this Indian woman you can only eat in the dining area so let’s say you wake up early for breakfast and you have work . You can’t grab and go you just stay inside and eat and be late to work . She then called the cops on me had me trespassed with all of my things in the room . I have it all on video thr compliance department said they do not represent themselves this way and are very sorry and would feel the same way had it happened to them .
She accuse me of intimidation then turn around and call the cops because I asked for the policy . Didn’t come here to break any rules and would have chose another hotel had I known so I wasn’t afforded the option of informed consent . She tried to take me out of the system so she could claim I wasn’t a guest and had no standing but she put me in the system herself and gave me a key .
I’ve already sent what’s below to the compliance team I was offered a complimentary stay a possible refund and a formal apology not from upper management or corporate I want it from her .
I’m not the type to scream discrimination I don’t have a victim mentality and most things can be solved with a conversation. She refused and escalated this by trespassing me and calling the cops .
I don’t like bullies , and if it was me it happened to directly I wouldn’t care but my girl is the nicest woman I’ve ever met . She claimed we abused all of her staff but the maintenance man told me she’s always like this and not to let it get to me
She then yells at him and tells him not to talk to me and when the cops get there not to talk to them either . Every other staff member including another younger Indian woman we have great interactions with .
She thought she would be able to shame my girlfriend and embarrass her and selectively enforce a policy yhey couldn’t produce and had no signage for .
I asked for the policy in good faith to see if we could clear up whatever misunderstanding there was but she the manager didn’t want to handle it responsibly
I’m wondering if she was intimidated because I’m a man because I’m black ( which I rarely ever think ) or because she had no leg to stand on so she tried silencing me .
There was no sign posted stating this was against the rules, only a sign listing the breakfast hours (photo attached). Nothing about this restriction was disclosed on the Choice Hotels website at the time of booking, which means we could not make an informed decision—had we known, we would have booked a hotel that doesn’t impose arbitrary limitations on an advertised amenity. writing to formally file a complaint regarding an unacceptable experience at one of your properties. During my recent stay/visit, I was trespassed from the property simply for calmly asking about the hotel’s policy and the absence of proper signage related to that policy. As a paying guest/customer, I believe it is entirely reasonable to request clarification about rules—especially when they are not visibly posted. Instead of receiving a respectful response or explanation, I was met with hostility and ultimately told I was no longer welcome on...
