Even tho my room key quit working 3x and booking was a bit complicated since I had to extend my stay (points the first night then paid the second) I was treated exceptionally well by the overnight desk agent, I believe his name was Nate --- young thin guy with a GREAT attitude and fantastic guest relations personality. He was the highlight of the stay.
The building was clean but cluttered with laundry and bins in the hallways almost all day even tho there were only 30 rooms to do.
The caution wet floor sign was ALWAYS there for two days in the hallway next to the PC area.
The PC area is not very private placed in the main hallway next to the check-in desk where EVERY person walks past to get to their rooms and the elevators.
There was chewing gum in my peep hole.
I was NOT offered my complimentary bottled water/snack upon check in, but was given it when I asked later that night when I extended my stay.
Nate also offered me water when I had to get my digital key replaced with another room key. (The key quit 3 times in 26-28 hrs)
The breakfast was literally horrid. The oatmeal was crusty and dried out on top and I tried to stir it, but it was still not great the French toast sticks were jerky. The milk was empty. The sausage was dark and hard the eggs were ok.. I mostly had boxed dry cereal and a yoplait yogurt for breakfast. The safest bet
Meal options for food were slim and Google maps kept suggesting places INSIDE the airport terminals. I didn't know where to order-in, since I didn't have a car until I specifically asked. Usually those things are available in the room. Panera, Outback and SEVERAL pizza places were about the choices. The location this hotel was great for airport disparage but bad for being within walking distance of anything else.
The rooms were great. Everything worked. Bathrooms were clean although room 138, there was a DISTINCT mildew smell coming from the sink if you were rinsing out a wash cloth in it. I smelled the wash cloth, and it wasn't that. So I assume it was the sink drain.
The rooms were quiet and well lit but I came from Houston where it's 90,,°F AND UP with 90% + humidity, so my home AC is usually at 78-80 just to keep energy costs down, the rim was 69 upon entering and the thermostat only went to 77. With the humidity change, it seemed much cooler than that. Lol. I adjusted fine with extra blankets.
I still enjoyed the remainder of my stay and the overnight desk attendant Nate was very helpful and super friendly, and made up for all the other...
Read moreWe booked a night about a month in advance. The day of the stay I tried to check in through their app as instructed by an email they sent to me, but it just led to a 404 Page Not Found webpage. When we arrived, the night manager who was lounging in the lobby watching TV was extremely rude and told us he didn't have our room. I asked him to explain what he meant as I had my confirmation number and the email, and he said he gave my room away and I'd have to go elsewhere for the night. This was at midnight, and the reason we booked so far in advanced was so that we could arrive late knowing we had a room. I asked why he would give the room away and he just kept repeating "go next door, they're waiting for you". Any time I tried to speak he would cut me off and say that again. I kept my cool and left, though I was extraordinarily frustrated that he would treat a customer so poorly. By the way, when we did try next door they had no clue what I was talking about and I had to explain the whole situation to them, so the guy at Hampton was not only lazy and rude but also a blatant liar. Very bad job Hampton (and Hilton, since you own them and should be managing much better than that!). Also, there were several others in the same situation as us that were treated the same. If you don't have the rooms, don't accept the booking. If there was some sort of mistake and you overbooked, then kindly apologize and explain to the customer as clearly as you can what you are doing to make it right. The manager wouldn't even tell us if we were being reimbursed for the room, he was just a broken record. I won't return to this hotel, and I highly recommend others consider a different hotel as well. Note to the hotel owners and management- our stay was May 15, 2021, and we highly recommend you replace the night manager who was on duty just after midnight. There is no excuse for treating your customers like actual garbage. The message we got was loud and clear- "ew gross, we don't want you here,...
Read moreHampton Inn Columbus Airport is an easy 10 minute walk from the terminal. If walking is not your thing, they have a shuttle that runs 24/7. We originally had 2 nights booked but last minute needed to tack on another night before on a separate back to back reservation. The woman who checked us in was very helpful, checking us in for the second reservation while we slept and she slid the new key cards under the door, eliminating the hassle of having to check out and check back in again.||The hotel is showing its age, looking worn. It was not a good impression entering the elevator and seeing a filthy welcome mat, a broom and a dirty bucket riding up and down with us for 2 days. The room looks like it was decorated in the 90s. The beds were comfortable but the pillows were very small and worn out. The duvet cover does not completely enclose the comforter, leading me to believe multiple guests have bodily contact with the comforter without laundering. A positive note, there were plenty of plugs and USBs for charging devices and every staff member we encountered was nice and helpful.||The bathroom was well laid out but the old tub/shower was a bit moldy in the corners and did not have a hand held, making it a bit challenging to rinse with the water-saving pressure. I did have to ask for more toilet paper and Kleenex since they only make up the room every 3 days.||The breakfast consisted of scrambled eggs, some kind of meat, assorted breads and muffins, a waffle machine, oatmeal, cereal, coffee and a variety of over-sweetened artificial juices. The volume of paper products and disposable packaging made my environmental senses hurt. Like most Hamptons in North America, it was adequate to start the day free of hunger.||Our needs were mostly met and the price was reasonable so they...
