  1. Upon arrival they charged an early check in fee. I understand that room cleaning is essential and sometimes you're just not ready for an early check in. But the desk clerk admitted that the room was ready. Okay no big deal although it sent the red flag that these people are out for the dollar and not to gain returning customers...I agreed to the additional room charge.
  2. I happen to be a government employee and I asked about the government/military discount. I was told "You should have asked for it when making your reservation." Then only to further explain that they couldn't add the discount in the system. Blaming their parent company for not giving them access.
  3. They asked if I had a pet. I affirmed. Then rudely (and I agree that's subjective) the clerk tells me there's an additional charge for the pet. I didn't remember that in researching on the reservation. But hey...there's additional costs in hosting pets because some owners are not responsible. I agreed to the pet charge.
  4. I receive my room key. No directions to the room were given. I had to ask. Then I went out and started to drive around to the room. The overhang was full and no one could pass either way. As I was on the road driving around the hotel to get to my room, I did see the desk clerk come out to clear the lanes.
  5. The room....the bathroom smelled like rotten eggs. There was paint on the on the bed. One bed was missing a mattress cover. The curtains were half hung. (easy fix to put the curtain hooks in the slide) The picture over one of the beds was over the simulated bed headboard ready to fall off on anyone laying on that bed. There was mold in the ceiling corner above the curtain. It did look like someone did try to clean it.
  6. A friend of mine was staying there as well and they went a day early. When they tried to add a day....the front desk told them they would have to cancel the first day (without refund) and make a new reservation for two days. In other words, as the client was trying to bring this hotel more business, they wanted to charge him for three days instead of two. I will let their review speak for itself as they had a nightmare of a stay as well.
  7. In fact, I didn't even stay. Between the horrible front desk service and the condition of the room we didn't even stay. My friends didn't stay their second night.
  8. It's amazing that this hotel has an "early check-in fee" and and "early check out fee" on the same day on my receipt.
  9. To make sure I am fair, as I was asking for the receipt (I didn't trust them for an emailed receipt-still don't have an email), there was a lady there trying to be concerned for the situation. The other desk clerk was not allowing her to show any concern. It probably would've helped to have communication there rather than here.

I've been associated with the Hospitality industry for over 17 years. I wasn't expecting the best....but if you don't have the amenities to offer as other hotels do, your best pay off for no cost is providing great customer service. The only glimmer of hope was snuffed out.

Three stars for the location to Texas State Aquarium and Blackbeard's restaurant. Both...

The pictures posted of this location were likely taken 10+ years ago. I booked online directly from the hotel website. When I arrived, they overcharged me. I asked for them to price match and honor their own site, they refused. Then charged me $10 for parking. I asked to be allowed free parking to make up for the overcharge, they refused. You are greeted by a huge sign by the check in desk about all of the things they will charge you for. Nothing is included in this stay. Want to use the new game table in the lobby? $5 per game, music by the pool to loud, they will charge you. A legit giant board of all things they will happily add to your bill. ||Assigned to room 104. Patio door wont open, window leaking in a big puddle because it's raining. I walk back to lobby, wait in line for 20 mins. assigned a new room, get all of our luggage and open the door and find it hasn't been cleaned yet. Walk back to the lobby and get assigned a 3rd try of a room. go to check the patio door, there is literally cheese melted into the air con unit... If they didn't happen to notice that while cleaning, I'm sure as hell not going to trust the cleanliness of the rest of the room. I walk BACK to the front desk, wait another 20 mins to ask for a refund. His response "I'll have to call my manager." Not sorry, not how can I help fix the situation. He calls his manager who says that they can't issue a refund. Tells me even though I booked thru their personal website, I have to call Choice Hotels and request they issue a refund. I spoke to her over the phone and she says "that's not my problem or my issue. We don't issue refunds. Email Choice and see if they can do it." Her name is Deepa. ||I call Choice who says the hotel obviously needs to issue the refund. I go back in, speak to manager on the phone again. I say that I'm not leaving until they refund me for their room, she refuses and tells me I'm welcome to call the cops. ||Hotel:|Dirty|Run down|Roaches squished and left all around common walkways and in rooms|Large leaks in multiple rooms every time it rained|Manger-rude, greedy, liar, lacks any sort of personal skills|Front desk attendant- has zero hospitality skills, or control of how guests are treated||Pros, The pool is large and seemingly clean. |Jackson, the only staff who ever even apologised during our 2 hour nightmare is fantastic. He tried to fix issues, was polite and apologetic, was working as hard as he could to make things work even with multiple families complaining and having issues. ||No not book here. We aren't fussy about much, just wanted to spend a couple days at the beach and explore the city. Most disgusting and disappointing experience ever. ||Still haven't been refunded the $400+ for a stay that didn't happen. ||*SO many jellyfish that we couldn't get in the water. couldn't even walk down the beach without stepping on them. Length of a football field we saw 20+ jellyfish washing up in the sand. Not hotels fault at all, maybe just the season but be...

Wow has this place changed. This used to be our go to every Corpus Christi stay. Things have really changed for the worse and I’m assuming because new management. I should have read the recent reviews before coming back. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. Right when you enter there’s a foul odor. A/C was on but seemed like just on fan mode. Exposed wiring everywhere. Missing switches for the light. Toilet kept not wanting to flush, would have to wait forever for it to be able to. Restroom was dirty with hairs everywhere. Did not look cleaned in the entire place actually. Blinds were all messed up. Everything was pretty much rusted and unsanitary. There was a dead bug in the lamp shade. Doors were jammed and door knobs were loose and hard to lock. Pillows weren’t even pillows and seemed super old. By the time we got under the blankets we saw dirty stains and dead roaches. We didn’t even want to sleep in that bed but had no choice. We even saw live little ones on the door trim. After cleaning it the best we could the A/C then decides to shut off. It was already hot in there to begin with. I finally had enough and went to tell the front desk. He came to check it and offered us a fan until he checked for another room. We couldn’t even explain any frustration we were already having as the man seemed to get defensive. He then took us to another room with a perfectly working but loud a/c. Which we were able to sleep in. It was about 2:30 in the morning when we had switched so we just switched our bags to the other room and laid down immediately. When we woke up we saw above us what seemed to be the starting of a water leak from up stairs. Also, we decided to check under the blankets and there was even more dead roaches under those sheets as well. The toilet problem was the same in that room as well and the restroom door knob was missing a screw. Over all horrible experience, not even comfortable complaining to the front desk. All we know is that we will NEVER be coming to stay there again. It’s sad what this hotel has come to and how bad they let it decay. It is nothing from how it used to be. Only thing great about it is the location and that is it. Definitely not worth the price! Thank god we got from a third party that charged us half of what they were asking because to be honest I wouldn’t even have paid that. Hopefully they get new management because it seems people have been leaving bad reviews about the same thing for months and NOTHING...

This place is DISGUSTING!!! We got in at 2:30am and were tired of driving so unfortunately, we stayed here... the condition of the hotel is a health hazard.... black mold on the ac units, the shower, and on the "entertainment center", the drywall is bubbling so probably mold behind that as well.... the window curtain is a shower curtain with holes in it being held up by staples. There are extension cords everywhere that plug in the lamps, BLOOD smeared on the bathroom walls, lipstick on the back of the bathroom door, the bed was nasty and had hair, crab claws, and skin flakes everywhere. The bathroom sink didnt drain and the shower water was freezing. The severly stained couch looked like it was from 1962. It looks like someone took it from their dead grandparents house. The beach is dirty, rocky, and has garbage scattered everywhere. The fire alarm is right by the bed so a constant strobe light in your eyes at night is what you should expect...The best part about this ladies and gentlemen, is that there were ROACHES everywhere (at night). The room looked like a crack house. Im so glad my kids didnt come with us...I told the front desk about the conditions and they said they were sorry. I also pulled up the website and asked where the rooms are located that they have pictures of on Google. They couldn't answer me. I told them I wanted a refund. And they told me the manager, TJ, wasn't in. I'm like of course he isn't. Today, my boyfriend and I are sick with sore throats (probably from the mold) and bites all over us (bedbugs i bet) I called again today (and they screen his calls by asking why I'm calling) and what do you know.... he isn't in again. They did however, point out that they checked the room and they didnt see any roaches. I told them ill send them some pictures. They declined the offer. I just got off the phone with corporate. They said since this is now a health issue, the hotel manager has to deal with this case himself. I will give him till the end of the day to contact me. If he doesn't, I'm filing a complaint with the Texas Health Department.... I'll keep everyone posted! Attached are some pictures for your viewing pleasure... seriously, spend the extra $100 and go elsewhere.... I'm so upset we didnt.....

BE AWARE OF THIS HOTEL I WAS Very Disappointed - AND the online pictures was not how it looked when we got there WHAT SO EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. I had booked my stay during labor day weekend 2024 we got there aporx. 10pm after driving 10hrs we where tired. well after check end we got to the room the room was out side the main building as we walked to the room i noticed alot of trash and building walls dirty we get to the room and got settled in so kids wanted to go swiming and this should have been a red flag there was guys outside drunk or high but they where arguing and as we passed them to get into the fenced off area at the pool they where asking stupid questions we just ignored them so we didnt notice the interior untill we got back from swimming and started to unpack OMG!!! we noticed the doors wouldnt lock properly , gaps under the doors , outlet plugs rusted out , the lamps rusted out , walls had really bad damages , the interior doors had unsatisfactory wall repairs throughout the room and restroom , paint pealing of interior doors and walls , the sofa bed didnt have sheets and the mattress was filthy , we woke up to roaches dead and alive. we didnt leave just because we where tired but we got up early the next day and checked out , while i was checking out i told the desk staff about the room and even showed the pictures i took and all they said was i am very sorry and that i should have told them to change the room i replied if you already gave me your best room how would the other room be better please check me out. i asked for the manager and supposably there was not one on site get this they didnt even try to give me a discount , they charged me $136 plus all kids of tax s and even a early departure fee of $ 40 . SO PLEASE BE AWARE WHEN YOU SEE THE FIRST NAME QUALITY DONT BELIVE IT
