Outdoor trash bins on the property overflowing with beer cans and fast food containers.||Stairs to office covered in TILE - they have signs up to warn people, but they are poorly finished, and are very slippery - who thought that was a good idea?||Bees and flies buzzed around the trash that never got emptied during our stay.||Parking space taken up by someone working on a car - cables and tools everywhere - looked like it's been there for weeks. Was very trashy looking right next to the laundry area.||||The place has been patched together - there is no attempt to make this anything more than a cheap place to spend the night.||||I got the same room that someone had posted pictures of stained and rotting bathroom ceiling in 2021! The same stained ceiling - the same filthy, grimy AC duct - covered in gunk!||Laundry room door left open day and night - bags of dirty? clean? laundry piled in bags in the parking lot.||Swingset had two swings - both dangling from broken chains - unusable.||Shuffleboard was unplayable - the pictures online must be years old. The concrete is faded and cracked - you could not push anything to slide down the surface at all.||Pool was a weird green color. Saw a few families in it - felt sorry for them. It was not blue by anyone's imagination - looked like an ear infection waiting to happen.||There is construction next to the closed-down restaurant "Fajitaville" on one side, and trash-littered lot on the other side, so it's right in the middle of a depressing, abandoned-looking area.||||Stayed here to be close to the beach. It was not worth it. - BIG WARNING - this is rough, chopped-up sand with a lot of shells - no place for small children, or to walk barefoot. It looks like construction sand. Past the sidewalk facing the water, it's about 6 feet of coarse, gritty sand, then drops to about 2 feet of hard wet sand with the waves breaking. Watched a family struggle to get a wagon to move on this sand - the wheels just sunk into the grit. ||||The idea that I'd enjoy the beach did not pay off at all. Rooms accessed via stairs and common walkway. Had to shove the door hard from the inside to get door to lock. The room was an odd size, with frayed carpet, a wooden shelf acting as a table, and bright overhead florescent light - the kind you see in offices with two long fluorescent tubes. The TV had wires and a cable box dangling along the wall - not safe for kids, so plan accordingly.||||Each room has two long floor-to-ceiling windows facing the water - permanently sealed. You can't enjoy the sound of the ocean, but you'll hear people running and walking at all hours. You'll want to keep your curtains closed with the people coming and going. View of the ocean? Sure, if the windows were clean - and if there weren't people hanging around you might not want looking into your room.||||Non-smoking? Yes, but everyone there seems to smoke - so common areas smell like smoke, and people were hanging out on the walkway smoking and talking.||||Yes, the toilet flushed, shower and sinks worked. Aside from walking to the USS Lexington, there is no reason to stay here - other hotels in the area are charging the same for better accommodations.||||Do yourself a favor and google the area on a map - you can see for yourself how sad this area is - there are many better...
Read moreIf you want a cheap place to stay that's right on the beach and have no plans to be in the room only to sleep and shower then it's the place to stay. Don't have high hopes for the place as my husband, I and 2 kids stayed here and was not impressed - except for the view. We had booked the kitchenette as we thought we would cook our meals rather than eat out all the time but that was not the case after arriving. After seeing the stove and that there were no smoke detectors I didn't feel safe cooking on the stove nor using the refrigerator. Was happy we had brought our cooler. The mini fridge was full of ice and it needed to be defrosted. There were no smoke detectors, just wires hanging out of the ceiling and wall. Housekeeping or whomever did the housekeeping only gave us 2 towels and 2 washrags for showers - not real smart for they knew 4 people were staying there. There were no plugs for the sink or bath tub along with the fact that there was a lot of mold and mildew around the tub and on the shower curtain as well as other places. The fan in the bathroom did not work and there was not a single electrical outlet in the bathroom at all. Every time the a/c would kick on and run the sink drain in the bathroom would gurgle the entire time it ran. Most of the wall outlets didn't work, cords to lamps fixed with electrical tape and lots of mold everywhere. I would say the doors and walls had at least 4 different coats of paint on it from over the years. We had a room that was non smoking, however someone kept sitting in a chair in front of our door and would smoke and it would come into our room. The carpet is horrible, DO NOT WALK on it barefoot - always wear sandals or some type of shoes unless you want your feet to turn black. There are lots of holes and some with towels stuffed into them to plug them. Only good thing was the TV's were nice new flat screens but not much in the line of channels and there was WiFi but your access was limited as it cut in and out all the time. Loved the beach access and location but the health department, fire safety or whomever needs to come and give the place a look over and have them bring things up to code. I know being that close to the water and the moisture it is hard to maintain mildew but the mold was not a sight I wanted to see. Overall our experience of the motel was not a good one. Didn't know who actually worked there or who was staying there. Employees should have had some sort of shirt or something to distinguish that they worked there so you could ask for extra towels or if you needed something you knew who to talk to. The office was closed 90% of the time and I saw one person knock on the door to ask for something and they acted like they didn't want to be bothered. I would love to go back to Corpus but think I will plan to...
Read moreThis hotel doen't even deserve this star. A housekeeper will not clean your room. I think they are waiting for you to leave first. We spent two nights and didn't have service/cleaning. We did see someone that said she was a housekeeper. Maybe she is works when it suits her. She and the office personnel were friendly. I think maybe you will understand why they are smiling. The pictures of the rooms, at least ours, must have been taken over twenty years ago. It is not as shown in the web site. There are no pictures on the wall. The web site shows a light fixture between the beds. No, it is not there. The beds had the box spring cover torn in several places. The mattress covers were torn on the corners and elastic must have stopped functioning years ago. When you turn over at night the mattress cover moves under you into a lump. The bed spreads are full of cigarette burn holes and feel like a back scratcher when your skin touches it. If you take a look at the sheets, you will find the same type of holes. The bathroom is so narrow that the toilet is so close to the wall that your shoulders touch it. The other side has the bathtub. The fooring next to the tube has an inch wide gap where sand and other accumulations of filth have deposited over the years. The carpet is frayed in places and at the edges. The television has a small screen and there is no mirror over the built-in table top to take the place of a dresser. Yes, there is not dresser as shown in the web page. They did have a mirror over the sink. Lucky us, we can see the fools in the mirror that rented the room. Now lets talk about amenities such as shampoo, conditioner, hand lotion, coffee, tea, and a ice bucket. You can get shampoo and conditioner if you ask the front desk. He did bring some and explained that we keep a stash in the office for ourselves. Forget hand lotion. You can get coffee from them if you ask for it, but you will not find it in the room. Now let talk about health, security and safety. There are light fixtures with electrical wires hanging loose and with bare wire exposed. The ice machine is unsanitary and is probably from an ancient ship wreck by the looks of it. Wood with the nail points exposed can be found laying on the parking lot. Nails backing out of the wood with heads at least a 1/4 inche exposed on stairs. Also, stairs would not meet code. They are too steep and not built by a professional carpenter. At least, not one I would hire.
Don't stay here. We were charge one hundred and twenty five dollars per day. It should be $25 dollars. You expect to see this kind of room in the getto. Only two thing were good about it. It was on the beach and the...
