A friend of mine and I wanted a quick, last minute, spontaneous overnight getaway, and somewhere to take my two teenagers, with something they too would enjoy before school started. So decided on a smaller water park near Roscoe Village (super cool) and was informed of the Canal ride also offered in the immediate area. I pulled up the closest motel/hotels online and decided on Apple Butter Inn, and I am so happy that we did!! It was a lovely little quaint bed-and-breakfast. The outside was full of beautiful foliage, and our room was the upper level of the Carriage House. ❤️It was absolutely perfect!!❤️ The room was full of antiques, a beautiful bathroom, with its own private little deck and a privacy fence and a fish pond full of beautiful Koi fish, which they even left a jar of food on the cute little table & chairs beside it so we could feed them. Curt, the owner, was very friendly and accommodating, made us a beautiful breakfast of homemade waffles, fresh cut fruit, sausage, coffee and OJ. He is quite the cook! The kids loved it, the water park and the canal ride was less than five minutes away, and about a 3 minute walk to Roscoe Village. I really enjoyed the cool little shops, (and so did the kids) we had a delicious dinner at The Warehouse Restaurant. Our room just gave the feel of being a step back in time, of a little country cottage out in the country, very peaceful, beautiful and serene. Everyone of us absolutely loved it, and none of us wanted to leave! I highly recommend it. Thank you Curt! You are a wonderful host, have a BEAUTIFUL place, and I have full intentions of doing this again. And when I do… I want the same exact room! I can’t say enough good things about it!...
Read moreThe Apple Butter Inn is a B&B ran by a wonderful, man named Curt who is a retired teacher. There are B&B's all over now and some people are just really good at it, and Curt is definitely one who is. He is very helpful, and personable - we felt like part of the family while we were there.||||The house was built in the 1840's and has a carriage house. We stayed there for 4 days, and it was peaceful, quiet, clean and one of the most relaxing vacations that we have had. Curt greeted us each morning with a fantastic home cooked breakfast, fresh fruit, juice, hot coffee and tea. Hospitality here is fantastic, Curt is a wonderful host and this large home is walking distance to Roscoe Village, a lovely canal town with lots of history and shops. The people there are so nice, and you feel welcome where ever you go.||||We had a wonderful stay here, we both work stressful jobs and this was the perfect getaway to unplug & relax. Life is much more laid back here, and we needed that. ||||The house does have wi-fi if you want to "plug in" or have technology time. There are so many neat things to do in the area, and this house is located in a great central location to make day...
Read moreSix of us, 3 couples, stayed 2 nights. Curt, the owner, was pleasant but to be honest this was the dirtiest place we have EVER stayed. There were a couple of exchange students staying at the Inn with Curt who were living in the rooms prior to us arriving. We still had clothes in the closets, shampoos and etc. in the showers and the rooms were VERY dirty. In fact, we were not certain the sheets had been changed. On one afternoon we found the exchange student in one of our rooms, which had been locked, going through the closet and dresser drawers to get out clothing. The first breakfast consisted of blueberry pancakes and some fried processed ham. The second breakfast consisted of scrambled eggs only. We had to ask for some meat and toast and when we did we received mushy fried sausage of some kind. We had Curt's dogs barking and scratching at our doors in the middle of the night waking us up. This was around 3-3:30 in the morning. While eating the second morning breakfast we found dog poop on the floor by the door in the dining room. Like I said, Curt was pleasant but the facility was...
