My husband and i stayed here in the Sara room for our anniversary this weekend. I gave 4 stars for room only because we could not get into the room to begin with and could not reach either the owner or his manager. After several phone calls from my husband I called from a different phone and left a message and then Mike called back promptly, apologized and got us into our room immediately. I say all that to say this.... I am not sure this was their error, but I think it was expedia. He said the phone number he had been given had way too many numbers so my husband never got a text with the code for the room. Either way, we got in and didn't have to wait too terribly long. The ladies downstairs in the bar were both friendly and funny while we waited and he was also very apologetic and helpful. The wifi was not working either later that night and no way too get ahold of someone so just check it when you check in if you might need it. For the hotel..... It's not marked from the front so it's a bit confusing as GPS dumps you off to the side , but from the back you enter by the restaurant deck and go up the back steps. The room itself was very cozy and nicely decorated. I loved the old quilts and all the art in the hotel. No real view from our particular room, but not something we cared much about. Very clean, smelled pleasant, large shower for two, and a massive iron bathtub which took forever to fill but when it did, oh my, it was heavenly after a long hike. I was a little concerned about the noise level with a bar and grille and live music going on below but we didn't hear anything except the faintest murmur so it's obviously insulated well. It's an old building. Yes the floors are creaky and the building could stand some maintenance, but the window a/c unit cooled nicely and it had a very old time charm that reminded me strongly of the old inn we honeymooned in many years ago. It's right in the center of town so very easy walking to literally any shop or restaurant. All told we will probably be back, it's a nice place with...
Read moreMike confirmed a room reservation but never sent a confirmation. As the arrival date neared I tried to contact him to get a confirmation. Starting on the 14th of May I tried to contact Mike via phone and text but got nothing but silence. Finally after 8 days and numerous calls and texts on May 22nd he called and said the room had been rented to someone else despite my having a text from him that stated "I have blocked off the room for you till I can make the reservation for you"||After a very frustrating conversation where Mike explained that I just didn't understand and he was only a one man show (I retired after 35 years in the hotel business so I have a fair idea about how reservations work) and he was not in the least bit pleasant about it.||To his credit, he later sent an email confirming the room but by that time I had enough of this crap and booked alternative accommodations in a different city. ||We have always enjoyed Dahlonega but this...
Read moreI have had the pleasure of staying at the Hall House Hotel a few times and every time has been nothing short to heaven. You cannot ask for a better location for a hotel in downtown Dahlonega than the Hall House Hotel. You are quite literally steps from everything. Best of all there is the Bourbon Street grill located in the same building as the Hotel and Naturally Georgia has 2 wonderful wine tasting rooms located in the same building. I have only stayed in one particular room but I have had the pleasure of touring most of the rooms. They are all uniquely decorated and lavish. There is a real rustic yet elegant charm to all of the rooms. Mike that runs the Hotel is amazing and half of the joy of staying is being able to shoot the breeze with Mike. He is truly a wonderful person. I cannot say enough good things...
