We stayed for two nights at Twenty Seven on Park during the Bear on the Square Music Festival.
This spot feels more like an updated inn than your run-of-the-mill hotel. It certainly has some charm, and some age. We appreciated the clean, spacious room (The Manhattan), hard wood floors, walk in shower and comfy bed. Our interactions with staff were limited but pleasant.
The location really can’t be beat for Dahlonega. It’s literally a 30 second walk from your door to the square. That alone is enough to justify the cost compared to budget hotels outside the square.
I also appreciated the refrigerator in the room for leftovers and drinks. Would have liked access to a microwave.
Areas for improvement: I will say that my wife and I are both picky sleepers. So take this for what it’s worth. The rooms are equipped with ductless air units like many hotels. These are not always the most efficient but I get why they are used. Even with mild temps it was challenging to keep the room not feeling humid unless the air was constantly running. This wouldn’t be a problem normally, but the unit in our particular room was pretty noisy. So we had to choose between running the air with the noise or leaving it off and being a little warm. Getting the room cool before bed helped, but wasn’t a perfect solution. So we only slept OK. Also, lots of light comes in through the windows even with blinds shut and curtains pulled. If you like dark to sleep you are going to have issues. I would recommend the property be updated with true blackout curtains. The shear curtains do nothing. Towels are pretty thin and scratchy.
Parking: There is no designated parking for this hotel. The lot across Choice Ave. is free and only a brief walk, but with a busy festival weekend parking got competitive and limited. I can’t imagine this is an issue year-round but be aware...
Read moreWe stayed at the Park Place Hotel in Dahlonega, Georgia for our wedding. We booked out the entire hotel (14 rooms) for our bridal party and used them for five days and five nights total. We were BLOWN AWAY by the attention to detail and organization of Cresten, Lynette, and Kasey. They are incredible people and made our wedding day and rehearsal dinner so much easier to enjoy! Lynette and Kasey worked with us tirelessly to get details done, such as handing out gift bags to each guest and making sure early, late, and on-time check-ins got processed. I know that this is for another review, but they also helped so much with the tux fittings and made sure everything was fast, simple, and easy for us. More to that, they both were always happy and smiling, very hospitable, and incredibly kind. I felt like they were there always to help out and made sure everything went without a hitch. Our rehearsal dinner was at the Park Place Hotel outside, and they made sure the firewood was stocked and ready on that chilly night. Cresten was also amazing. He does a lot of the "behind the scenes" work I think, making him kind of an unsung hero often, but I know that he busts his butt to get everything done and we are so thankful and happy that we worked with him for our wedding because he bent over backwards to make sure we felt comfortable! The rooms were also awesome. My husband and I stayed in the honeymoon suite and enjoyed the plentiful closet space, fireplace, and huge hot tub. Our other guests were really happy with their rooms also. Well...
