This place definitely gets 5 stars from me! They hit all the highlights. First, very friendly staff. Next, very clean (even the bathroom). Next, nice seating (inside or out). Next, nice menu. Yup, we'll be back. We heard through the grapevine that this is a place the locals go in Dahlonega, so we gave it a shot. My mom and I ordered the fish tacos to share. It comes with two large fish tacos, and one was plenty for each of us. The fish and the coleslaw on top was delicious. There was hardly anyone there on the day we went, which was odd. Maybe it was just an off time. Anywho, I highly recommend it! You can just park anywhere in the square and walk to it.💗🐠🌮 PS. One thing... we always look at the health department scores for the restaurants we visit, and this one gets a B. Almost all the restaurants we visit get an A. I wonder why they got a B. It doesn't matter though, a B is still good!!! Maybe it has to do with the fish aspect. I know the temperature requirements for storing seafood are brutal.💗🐠🌮 UPDATE: It's been about 3 months since I left my review. Since we went back again yesterday, I thought I'd add some more info. First, the menus are paper printouts, and they were crumpled with food spilled on them. Yuck. On a positive note, they've been inspected by the health department again since the last time we were there. Now they have a 98 score (an A). Yay!!!💯 We sat at a table outside, and it was soooo nice. The Red Pepper Crab Bisque was delicious (just the right amount of kick).😋🦀

We fancied seafood and so choose this restaurant. There was a college graduation that day so it was a long wait for a table of up to 2 hours. The gentleman at the front desk was awesome and his assistant. Despite the filled reservations we were offered the opportunity to put our names down in case we could be seated sooner. We returned about half hour later and we were seated as they had just had dinner cancellations. The aroma of the food was heavenly. I ordered the fish and chips with baked sweet potato and my friend ordered crab cakes. The server was pleasant and they interior was a bit like being in an eating establishment on a San Francisco pier.Wooden slats and beach like. The service was prompt and my food was nice and hot. We started with fried green tomatoes which were good but not the best I've tasted. The fish was nicely beer battered, not too greasy and the slaw that came with it was delicious. I don't usually eat slaw but this was exceptional!! My friend enjoyed her crab cakes but the only dampener to the meal was that it was cold in the interior and she had to send it back to be reheated. The flavors were good but this is why it fell short of a star. Also we were served our starter without silverware so had to ask for it. Despite these faux pas, I would eat here again for sure as we enjoyed the hospitality and the meal was tasty. The prices were reasonable and staff were all pleasant and made our experience an enjoyable one.

My wife and I ate a late lunch at 19 Degrees North in Dahlonega, GA, last Sunday. This is a seafood restaurant with a very good menu and some excellent recipes. We chose items from the appetizers including fried green tomatoes, crab cakes, oysters on the half shell, and Oysters Rockefeller. The fried green tomatoes were tasty and well cooked. The crab cakes were really good and included what looked like a corn relish. May not be an accurate description but I highly recommend them. The raw oysters were enormous compared to many seafood restaurants in Charlotte, NC. Its been a long time since we had good sized oysters….and they were delicious! We also had a small order of the Oysters Rockefeller. Noy exactly the original recipe but a wonderful version of this dish. Thoroughly enjoyed them, too. The drink menu had some very good choices. We were lucky and sat upstairs on an outdoor patio, overlooking the square. This would be a fantastic place to eat a meal in the warmer months and was very comfortable on the day that we were there.

On Mother’s Day, my girlfriend’s family and I waited for our table for 1 hour. We noticed that the restaurant was mostly empty, which threw us off from the start. Groups with up to 7 people were seated before us right when they approached the hostess. When we finally got seated, we had to wait for drinks for upwards of 30 minutes. By the time we received our appetizer, which was cold, we had waited for at least another 30 minutes. When we finally received our entrees (30 minutes later, which seems to be a common pattern here), we had no utensils to eat with, my clam chowder was full of RAW potatoes and no clams, my girlfriends sister’s salmon was so overcooked it resembled beef jerkey, and my girlfriends “carbonara” which was full of raw onions and was more like a sad Alfredo. It had occurred to us near the beginning of us being seated that we were next to a possible investor to the restaurant. The general manager was constantly giving them attention and completely ignored us the entire meal. By the time we had gotten our appetizer they had been given 5 different plates of food which is completely unfair and unprofessional. A side note, the manager ended up kissing several coworkers in front of the investors and us which made us very uncomfortable and made the food taste even worse. He ended up completely lying to the investor about how booming the business was and how good the food was. At the end of the day it was incredibly disappointing and sad how bad this restaurant really is especially because it was Mother’s Day and the fact that Dahlonega is a hotspot for many veterans and actively serving members of the military. This place really sucks and I am embarrassed that I had to put my girlfriend and her family through such a...

So after arriving at 3:30 we were escorted upstairs to our table. At the top of the stairs sat the manager, scowling at his iPad as we entered. The expression didnt change as his gaze wandered over to us. He made his way to a table in the back and seated himself across from a woman.

About 15 minutes later we walked out as multiple waiters ignored us as well as the manager. No attempt to retain us was made and at no point did anyone let us know they would help us shortly.

Having only 4 occupied tables upstairs and 2 downstairs made me wonder how they would handle an influx of business. Probably the same way they did with us despite having a decent amount of staff present.

As we made our way downstairs there were three waiters all standing around talking. No wonder. Clearly the manager didn't want to be there either as his expression didn't change the whole time and he was more interested in chatting up the girl than running a business.

The three minute walk across the road to Shenanigans was met with us being informed we had the last available table. It was packed. Another three minutes passed and our order was taken. I couldn't help but notice the entire staff working as they assisted each other in every duty required to run a restaurant.

What a difference. Not only was the menu $10 cheaper, but they were actually earning our money. Goodbye 19 degrees, we are turning 180 from you. On a relaxed Sunday afternoon outside of peak hours your staff could care less about the profit walking out the door or their future in your establishment. The manager ultimately is to blame for the failure as he would clearly have rather been somewhere else.

Perhaps he should be if he is going to allow them to sit around and follow...

Though there was plenty of space, and available tables, we we're advised that it would be a 30 minute wait. Attempting to think outside of the box, my best guess was that they're understaffed? Perhaps low on cooks? Once we were seated, and ordered, we were advised they only had Haddock, and shrimp. Not many seafood selections at all. I ordered the haddock, and 2 sides. A few sides were out of stock as well. I ordered the Coconut shrimp as a starter. We were there for about an hour or 45 minutes waiting for our food. Our starter arrived at the same time as our Entreé, and by the time it arrived, our drinks were almost empty. The server was very polite, however, nobody offered more sweet tea. The coconut shrimp didn't really have much flavor, but the sauce, and mango salsa was very very sweet. I couldn't finish it, the combination was just... strange. But then again it might not be for everyone. The haddock was quite dry, and not very flavorful, and the Brussels sprouts were sautéed in something that tasted like what I'm pretty sure was honey mustard which again, was a strange combination. The fries weren't as fresh as I suspected it would be because of the wait. Because of the lack of refreshment available, my mouth was very dry. I waited 15 minutes for silverware. Also had to ask for to-go plates. Dont come here if your not vocal about everything. Also, the dessert is a mystery, you have to ask what they have that day as apparently it changes daily. About 2 hours later, my stomach began to feel strange, I haven't been sick, but I feel kind of nauseous. I wouldn't recommend it unless if they...
