Nice hotel in the Daytona Area The Holiday Inn chain is based in Atlanta, Georgia and is a brand of the IHG Hotels and Resorts. The Chain, founded in 1952 by K Wilson, opened its first location in Memphis Tennessee and sports over 2200 locations in 51 states and territories. This particular hotel is one of the 141 locations in Florida. I have not stayed in a Holiday Inn for quite a while and was pleasantly surprised. The hotel looks fairly new. It has a covered drive-up entrance, a new-looking lobby, and a very nice restaurant. One-half of the front parking lot was being repaved making for an interesting entrance area. Check-in was easy and quick. We were lucky to get a very nice room which rivaled most suites that I have stayed in for its size. The price was a little more expensive but I booked in during Spring Break. The room was clean and well-appointed. All was not perfect, the room has double-paned windows and one of the outside panes was broken, the sensor for one TV was falling down, the other TV needed to be reset, and check-out involved a lady behind the counter who seemed…angry may be the best description. Overall, it was a nice hotel, for a reasonable price in an easy to get to area.

Terrible! We had booked two rooms for the entire week for a work event. Check in was fine, then we made it up to the room… stayed the first night, and I’ll give credit that the air conditioning worked great and was ice cold. The next morning when we walked into the bathroom we were met by dozens of cockroaches! They were everywhere! I get it, it’s Florida, you’re gonna have a bug or two but this was crazy. The room had mold all around the air conditioner, and the mattresses had stains and nastiness on them. In the second room there were random sink parts laying on the floor at check in. We went to the front desk, and didn’t seem fazed about the roaches. Moved us to another room, but I just couldn’t stay there a second night. During a break we went down to cancel the rest of the reservations. The person at the front desk didn’t apologize for the roaches or even ask why we were leaving! I will say that the waiter we had during breakfast was great.

I called the front desk last night to register the complaint and I spoke to the General Manager, Lona, this morning regarding the extremely poor conditions of the shower stall in my room, the shower head does not work properly and the stall is dirty and moldy. I even showed her pictures so she could see what I was talking about. I asked her to please have someone clean it and replace the shower head while I was gone all day. I have returned and nothing has been done. It is disgusting! The head of housekeeping obviously does not check on the performance of the maids, who can't possibly clean a shower when the head does not work. I guess that since the General Manager does not care they don't either. And, the phone does not work in my room either.

I had the opportunity to stay at this hotel for a two week work trip.

The property is clean inside and out. Well maintained and you could always find a gentleman mopping and vacuuming each morning in the lobby and first floor seating area.

Pool/Hot Tub - it was cool while I was there so this wasn't utilized. The pool area was small, but decent. The water looked good in the pool, but not inviting in the hot tub.

Elevator - the hotel had an issue with their elevators so for the duration of my trip, only one lobby elevator worked. This made it challenging to get around at times due to their occupancy level. - after conversation with the GM, they were trying to find a different elevator company to maintain the issue.

Room - I had a two queen bed room. This room was nice, had a chair and desk area along with a microwave and fridge. Overall the room was nice. This hotel is a "green" hotel so I had to work with the thermostat to get the fan to stop shutting off frequently or turning on/off based on rolling over at night. The bathroom was a decent size, but note the hot water doesn't work real well at the facility (noted by several of my traveling partners). I had some concern on the housekeeping or lack there of. I think they were very busy and at times wouldn't get to my room while I was gone. I was also frustrated that the bedding wasn't changed for a week, despite having them in my room. I was then pointed to a sign (hidden in my drawer in the bible) which you need to place on the bed to get clean sheets. Although, the sign in the bathroom which says hang your towel if you don't need them changed was ignored.

Restaurant - open only for breakfast and dinner. Over the weekend, it was frustrating to not have a place to get a drink or snack, especially since there aren't any locations within walking distance. The breakfast buffet struggled and food was just ok. The server Marleny however, made up for some of the issues with her pleasantries and frequent coffee refills. Truly a good ambassador for the hotel. Dinner had its challenges due to some chef/staffing issues during my stay. Overall the food was average at dinner/appetizers, but the service was slow. They had one bartender assigned to work room service, the bar and the restaurant. These two ladies, Becki & Kelley were absolutely AMAZING! Very friendly, accommodating and worked their tails off each night I was in there.

Staff - overall most of the staff was very pleasant and the few I mentioned above probably kept me from going to a different hotel. I had the opportunity (as did several of my colleagues) to speak with the General Manager during the stay and voice some of our frustrations and concerns. She was pleasant, attentive and tried to rectify some issues.

Laundry - the hotel dry cleaning arrangement was extremely expensive. $17/minimum and approximately $5/shirt. They had a washer/dryer onsite which took coins. They were small and due to the occupancy at the hotel, it was hard to find time to get things washed. I opted to head to Tropical Laundromat for my laundry and NE Cleaners one exit to the north for my...

First off, as in previous ratings, you'll see that we only stay at Holiday Inn Express. During soccer season, we are staying at a hotel every weekend for tournaments. In 10 years, I've had no problems with this franchise, which is why we choose to stay only here. Recently, this has not been the case. It's been one problem after the next. Anyways, we were at a tournament in Orlando and decided to spend the night in Dayton Beach and mess around the following day. Called the direct line for a certain hotel and pushed the number for the front desk. Put thru to a lady that was to help use book a room. The particular hotel we were asking about was booked full, and she suggested a different one. I told her we wanted on the beach and free breakfast. She booked us a room with these 2 expectations. Within 20 minutes of booking, I got to the hotel to check in and waited in line for 30 min. 1. No where near the beach and 2. It was not an Express . They do not have any 2 bed, queen rooms. She told me I would have to call the number where I booked it and have them refund my reservation. At this time, I was not happy. I'd been sitting in 95 degrees, sunny weather for 4 hrs, and tired. I explained to her that I had called the hotel directly and why would they book a room that was not available? She didn't know.. So, i went outside and called the hotel back and found out all calls for reservations are sourced out to call center. Anyways, they tried to book me another room 20 miles away, but I couldn't guarantee that said room would be available when I arrived. They then informed me that I had to go back inside the hotel to cancel my reservation. After another 30 wait in line... Ugggg The lady at the front desk said she could put our party of 3 in a King room. I asked for a discounted rate or free breakfast vouchers, for the issues we had, she said she could give us the king for the price of the 2 queens. The king is higher.. Why? It sleeps less people.. Because they have fewer of them rooms to rent out.. Go figure. Tired and OVER IT, I took the room. I'm definitely going to be rethinking my future stays and going to go with a different brand. The customer service is seriously lacking, and one hand doesn't know what the other is doing. How do you book direct, then arrive and your rooms not available? DO BETTER...

Multiple issues this stay..

Roaches nesting with babies in the room. Dead and living roaches in door by refrigerator. When asked to spray he sprayed 4 squirts and didn’t clean after or kill the live ones. He only was in the room for 3 seconds. Front desk just brushes it off saying Florida is notorious for roaches. I understand Florida has roaches but if they are nesting then no one is inspecting. They were very visible by the refrigerator. They moved as soon as you would open the door. Nobody wants to take them home!

Hair was in our food twice down in the cafe. They don’t attend the tables in a timely fashion to provide refills.

Pool was closed due to poor maintenance.

You get a free voucher when you check in but they choose your alcoholic drink. TAKE CASH.. cafe credit card machine was down and DID NOT TELL US AHEAD OF TAKING OUR ORDER.

They have an activity schedule posted for wed through Sunday. We planned our day around so the kids could participate but Nothing was done on Sunday as advertised. When asking front desk about it, they had no idea and said the activities were posted around the hotel.

VIDEO TAPE/ TAKE PICTURES OF YOUR ROOMS WHEN CHECKING IN AND OUT .. THEY WILL CHARGE YOU FOR SOMEONE ELSES DAMAGE.

Lack of security.. people not putting swim diapers on children ages 1-3 .. people pouring beer out on edge of pool .. people sticking hands in other peoples bags . If there was presence of security, a lot of that could be avoided. It would suck to have the pool shut down on vacation IN FLORIDA.

Any time there is an issue the manager is not around.

Live music was not available as advertised. I’m pretty sure they charge you for that. We were expecting it all week long but it was only the weekend.

House keeping just make the beds and change the trash. My dad had to ask for a vacuum for our floor. They give you towels and toilet paper though!

We are very disappointed during this stay. We got charged 250 for someone else’s damage to the TV when we were not even there but to shower and sleep. We called to ask why the charge and was told they would inform the manager and we still have not received a call back. TAKE VIDEOS AND PICTURES AT CHECK IN AND CHECK OUT. That is a big lesson learned! We have come here multiples times/ years and sad to say this was a...
