This was my first time on Cape Cod. It was trip I decided at the last minute and relied only on tips from a friend who lives on the Cape. I searched for hotels near the beach since I wanted to have a beach vacation and time to focus on writing. The pictures on the hotel website give the impression that it is located on the beach. It was a disappointment to arrive to the hotel and realized that we were a few blocks away from a small, rocky beach.||The size of the room was comfortable. The air conditioner was loud, and it kept waking me in the middle of the night when the automatic temperature control was triggered. I also missed not having a desk in the room or an area on the hotel premises where I could sit down and write. There is a small table an chair outside the room, but the table is too small to set my computer and notebook.||Please understand that, since this was my first time visiting the Cape, the references I’m using for comparison are of hotels in other regions, not of other hotels on the cape. I learned that Cape’s hotel rates are high compared to hotel in other regions. I expected to find other amenities, such as a coffee/tea shop where I could enjoy my tea with some breakfast pastry, not necessarily a full breakfast. Every morning, after I woke up, I would go down to the reception area wearing my pajamas to get a couple of tea sachets to bring back to my room to make myself a cup of tea. Why not to have the tea bag in the room already?||Gladly, I had a car, and I could drive myself around to find other beaches and places to have breakfast. I found a small bakery about 10 minutes away walking. It would be nice to offer guests a list of nearby places for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.||In general, it was a...
Read moreWe are repeat customers - this time we stayed for a week. I love the modern furniture, stylish retro motel vibe and the ultra comfy bed - the air conditioning was also nice for the hot spell we were experiencing. It's nice to have such modern accommodations in Dennis Port - a town which preserves the best of an old Cape Cod beach town. We enjoyed sitting in the evenings and with our morning coffee at the little table and chairs stationed outside each room. The staff, and especially the cleaning staff, were really nice, and the rooms are very clean. Didn't use the pool, but our niece did - a great family amenity. Now here's a couple points for improvement: 1) the shower tub is slippery! I noted this in a review after we stayed here not long after it opened. Several years later, this is still being remarked on in reviews. This is actually a safety hazard. Either no one in management reads the reviews (is this possible?) or they just don't do anything. But if someone fell and were to sue, the repeated reviews mentioning this hazard would not look good. Knowing it was still an issue, we actually bought some anti-slip matting at the local Job Lot. This really shouldn't be necessary. 2) As numbers of reviews also note - some hooks would be really helpful in the bathroom. Not a complicated fix! 3) It's nice that you offer free coffee in the morning, but would it be all that hard to offer little packets of half and half instead of or in addition to CoffeeMate? It would make such a difference. The little office is full of pricy merchandise and it's not just a cheap motel. All the same, please note I did give this review five stars. We enjoyed our stay, and would...
Read moreHave never been to Cape Cod previously, and booked Bluebird Dennisport with reward points from major chain hotel so there was no cost to us.||Cute little place, very rustic and seems to fit into vibe of local area. Property is cute. Enjoyed sitting by the gas firepit, but skipped the pool since our Floridian blood is used to much warmer summer temps for swimming. Enclosed pool and hot tub area were closed for renovations, but looked nice. Location was nice; we were within walking distance to a few small restaurants.||Our room (deluxe double queen) was comfortable. (We were on first floor; our neighbors upstairs sounded like they were doing laps in their room at times, but of course this was not fault of hotel.) Beds were comfy, water pressure good.||If there are recommendations I could make...|Our room had a round table and L-shaped bench, as well as a cubby shelf. Would loved to have had a desk/dresser unit in room, as there wasn't really anywhere aside from table and bench to put suitcases [no drawers for clothes]. The room was sizeable, so there was ample space to add desk/dresser.|Shower/tub only had one glass divider/door, so you had to get into shower to turn water on. (That first cold blast of shower water hit hard when you turned it on...) Had to take extra care to make sure water didn't splash out onto bathroom floor, which could have easily been remedied by additional shower door or even a shower curtain.||Overall... I would look into other hotels for price comparisons on future visits --- didn't do that at all this time since we were able to pay with reward points --- but would have no issue with staying at Bluebird Dennisport again....
