The stay at sleep-in was convenient. I checked in at 3 on 10/01. I was given room 214. The comfort of the bed and pillows were top-tier. It was also easy for me to sleep at night. There wasn’t much noise. One of the reasons I booked this stay was to get away and have peace and quiet. It was my birthday ! So I am thankful for that. However, the housekeeping is what disturbed me. As soon as I walked into the room there was this strong smelly odor. It may have been from the previous client but the rooms seriously need to be cleaned and cleared out more. Also, the carpet was dirty. You can’t tell because it’s a darker color carpet. Yet, it was noticed when I got out of the shower and walked into the room. I noticed my feet were a bit black because of the dirt on the carpet. The bed frame also had this oily stuff on it. Yet, that was hidden by the pillows. So I didn’t see that until I began to lie down and watch TV. There was also this oil stain on the refrigerator. I felt like that was not easy to miss if everything is truly being wiped down. I took a paper towel and was able to see it still being smeared. So it was most likely an oil from the previous client , that definitely should have not been there still for a new stay. To hide it with clean pillows is very disappointing, considering those have to be used but unsure of the mystery oil substance it was just covering. The housekeeper did stop by and knocked very loudly on the door to see if I needed something. To see if I needed anything was appreciated. I did ask for more wash-clothes and toilet paper. I really wanted to inform her of the oil left on the bed frame and hidden by the pillows. I took pictures of it once I noticed it. Yet, I was too tired and didn’t bother. Also , the tv cable didn’t have a working guide. Normally your able to see what is playing but the tv guide button was not working. I had to actually look up the tv direct guide to see what I wanted to watch without scrolling through the channels one by one. The breakfast station was very clean both times I went downstairs. Even the lady on the first day greeted me and told me breakfast was ready. I appreciated that. However, the actual breakfast was okay. The eggs are very mushy and was not very good. All though the danishes and muffins were a great touch. Even the waffle was good too! I didn’t try the coffee or tea but the station was well kept. That was appreciated. It was just the actual room. I expected better. I don’t think I will book another stay here just because the cleanliness of everyone’s room should be a top priority. I pray this encourages a new and better routine given for housekeeping. Thank you for taking the time out to read this....
Read moreWhen we checked in the room strongly smelled of smoke. I went and reported it to the desk. We told them we would stay in the room but wanted to let them be aware so we were not charged. We then went out to eat. When we came back and started to get ready for bed it became apparent that the room had not been cleaned. She bed was made but had dirty used sheets on it. The desk chair has something white spilled on it and multiple white stains on the couch. The bathroom had hair on the ceiling, carpet sticky, and several other issues.
I went back to the desk and was moved to another room. I showed the photo of the chair to the desk person and he said it might be plaster. It isn’t plaster or paint on the chair it was dirty and needed to be cleaned.
The new room had several issues as well. The carpet squares were not installed correctly and raised in places that was a tripping hazard. The wall near the couch had been repaired at some point and the drywall not fully repaired just wall papered over leaving a space where the base and wall paper was pushed in, the chair was dirty, ptac filters filthy, something in the toilet floating in the water, stains on the wall, vent fan in the bathroom dirty, fridge wasn’t cleaned and debris on the shelves, and the drawer wouldn’t close. The room was not guest ready but better than the other room. When I spoke with the desk and shared the issues and the desk person just said they would discount the stay immediately and not fully listen to my concerns. It was obvious that this was a regular occurrence and discounting was a way to get rid of the guest and not listen to the feedback. I was given a discount of $30. I questioned it and was given another $30 discount.
It is sad that the property hasn’t been maintained and clean. The lobby gives the appearance of being a nice hotel. The lack of concern by the desk and the immediate jump to discounting is concerning.
I have managed hotels for over 30 years and understand the challenges of maintaining an other building. Regular PM and deep cleans help with these type of issues. Also communication between departments because the housekeeper should have noticed the desk and the room placed out of order and an ozone machine placed in the room.
We stay in Dover several times a year and will not be returning. Which is unfortunate as the location is perfect...
Read moreI got to the hotel at 2:06pm on Friday October 4th. I called the day prior to see if it was possible to check in early but was told that it was based on availability. I get to the hotel & tried to check in but was told to wait about 20 minutes. 20 minutes turned into 40 & more minutes & still no room was available. Meanwhile I’m sitting in the lobby watching maintenance take their sweet time in gathering what they need to clean the rooms. The manager, not sure her name but she has brown hair, then called my name to check me into a room that was available on her end since whoever was supposed to occupy that room was not there yet. In my opinion if that was a room available when I got there then I should’ve been able to have it, not after waiting 40 minutes. At this point it’s after the actual check in time when I’m assigned room 201. I get to the room & the door is open, no bedding is on the bed so I go downstairs to let them know. The manager said on her end the system said the room was cleaned. I sit down thinking it shouldn’t take that long & yet again I’m in the lobby another 45 or so minutes. At that point I missed the event I was supposed to go to because now it’s past 4pm. I asked the guy at the desk if there was another room I could take, he tells me there’s a room on floor 3 as if it would be a problem to switch me to it. That’s when the manager came back downstairs to let me know my room was ready but at that point I was very irritated. The toilet was not working right & the AC wasn’t working right neither. Overall, I will never recommend this place to anyone. I literally watched so many people check in before me & it was quite embarrassing to watch them come & go while I’ve been sitting there forever....
