Rosen Inn Lake Buena Vista — Hotel in Dr. Phillips

We booked via TUI as part of a package deal for a two week stay and have since checked out 8 nights early due to the issues with this hotel.

The hotel is first of all very central to all of the theme parks and is a good price, which is why we had booked it to begin with. Lyfts and Ubers are readily available in the area and the hotel does offer a shuttle service but we didn’t try this.

The rooms are dated but comfy enough at first glance, however we went through four separate room changes before TUI offered to find us a new hotel as we had issues in every room. This place is overrun by roaches and the staff seem to be aware but unfazed. All of our rooms were on the ground floor and to the right of reception so please be wary of these rooms.

Our first room was the one that we stayed in for longest, from the beginning we had found insects in the room including a millipede and one roach. Not being from the area we chalked it up to just being in Florida and removed them hoping it would be a one off. Throughout our stay in this room we found a total of four roaches, finding more each day, and went to reception to complain having taken photos to show them. They were admittedly very apologetic and gave us a room change, this change was in a different building to the one we were in so we were hoping this would be okay. As we were leaving the first room we found that we were unable to close the door due to the locking mechanism sticking out, there is a note on the inside of the door saying that if the button is pressed we will be locked out and charged for it. We hadn’t pressed the button at all on this and it was still stuck open with no way of closing it, so we reported this to reception who said they’d take a look. Walking past the next morning the door was still not fixed and was unable to be closed, meaning anyone could have easily pushed the door open and gained access to it, luckily as we were moving we had no personal belongings in this room but just something to be aware of.

When we got to the second room we thought given the prior situation we had better check for more roaches and immediately found another one. This room was in a separate building and quite a distance from the first so we were shocked to see another one in this hotel. There were also hairs on the floor too so the overall cleanliness of this room was not great. Again we went back to reception to show them. They offered us another room change which we accepted. As we were speaking to them about the roach problem we were hushed to keep our voices down about the roaches to avoid other guests from hearing, so I assume they know well about this issue but have not taken any actions to sort this.

The third room I can’t really speak for as we were never able to get into this room. We were given our keys but the keypad to get in didn’t work at all. We again went back to reception to report this and they advised that the keypad was probably out of battery and security would be sent to let us in. Security never showed up, we waited 45 minutes while in contact with TUI about the issue and not one person came by to let us in. Again, we went back to reception and they gave us yet another room change. This was getting close to around 11:30pm at this point.

The fourth room was better, however still had dead bugs in it and to be honest we didn’t stay long enough to see any roaches as we checked out the next day. Due to all of the issues with the other rooms we decided not to sleep in the bed and just laid on top of them meaning that we were freezing all night and running off of virtually no sleep the following day.

Throughout all of our stay we weren’t entirely sure that the housekeeping team had cleaned our room, the beds were rarely made although they did empty the bins and our stuff was moved around and lights left on so I assume they had been in. Nothing went missing as far as I’ve worked out so far but I would be wary here.

We have since had to pay for a new hotel out of pocket so be very cautious if you are looking to stay here and budget...

"Beware"dont be fooled by the four stars of this hotel the picture is misleading this hotel does not look like this is person, the room are not up to standards, the bed, you get the fitted sheet, the flat, sheet, and a thin cover, for your bed, with three small pillows, the bathroom is not up to standard I was woundering why when i booked my room throught booking.com it was 159 for two night!!!!. I only booked at Rosen Inn hotel because this hotel was close to where my daughter was located and they seemed cheaper then the surrounding. Hotel near by and they was four stars and pet friendly. After driving all day I throught I got lucky. I reviewed everything before I booked at this hotel it listed all the amenities the hotel had to offer. "Free" parking and pet friendly where could i go wrong. Like I said I have been driving all day when I arrived there was two employess of the hotel there was a young lady and a young man they was super friendly. I basically told the young lady that I had a reservation I give her my id and she confirmed that I do have a reservation. I was asked which floor I would like i told her the bottom floor because I did not want to do to much walking after driving all day all i wanted to do is check in shower and get into bed I was exhausted. From driving. Then I was told that I had to pay a deposited, and pay for parking I could not understand why? because on line it did not say I had to pay a deposited or pay for parking? So I told the young lady I did not have a problem with paying the deposited even if it did not say it online but paying for parking I'm not paying for parking if I knew the hotel was going to charge me for parking my car I would of reserved a hotel some where elese so then i told her to give me a moment. After talking with my sister I was patiently, waiting, to be helped again this time around there was a young man who started helping me I explained to him that I was not aware the hotel charging for parking, and if I knew I would of booked some where elese so i give him my id and he told me that the new policy and it started in august so I asked him when in august.did it start????? Because i booked my reservation on august 8, 2025 which was friday it did not say you had to pay to park!!!!!! And check out August 10, 2025 which would of been sunday he said yes that the new policy I told him I understand what he was saying but when i booked it did not say that then he walked over to his co-worker I saw him pointing at the screen the young lady was on then he come back and says he was going to waive the fee. So I told him thank you and I truly appreciate it I paid the deposited and was told it would get refund if they dont see any damages to my room . Once I got to the room I notice the room was not up to standards they did not have a comforter on the bed and the room was extremely cold like i said it was a flat sheet, fitted sheet, and a think cover thinking to my self I should of brought a comforter from home. I was so disappointed just with the bed along then i go to take a shower I cant even get the shower to come on and the handle to turn on the shower had came off as I was turning trying to get it to turn on the inside the piece that was attached to the wall where the handle came off was really rushed. I managed to get the handle back on but I had my daughter to try and turn on the shower it was not easy for her but she was able to get the shower on. So can you just imagine after driving all day you are blindsided by hidden fees once you reach the hotel you had booked your reservation. To get to your room and its not up to standard I was so beyond happy it was already late me and my daughter got to the hotel at 9:30pm at night and I was not in the mood I was going to just tough it out and never ever book at this hotel again. I booked 2 rooms for a weekend stay and honestly the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at. My cousins room smelled of heavy chemicals which caused headaches. My room didn’t even have a functioning shower. Image driving 4 hours and finally being able to check in and drop off our bags so we can get dinner. The room smells funny but honestly all hotels smell a little funny so that’s easily ignorable. Then coming back around 11pm finally ready for a shower and to sleep only to find that the shower head doesn’t work. I thought maybe it was me. Maybe I just didn’t understand how to turn on my shower. I called my cousin to ask if she knew how to turn on the water so instead of coming out the faucet it comes out of the shower head. She sent me a picture of her faucet and the lever on top that you pull to turn on the shower head. Did mine look like that? No. No it did not. Instead of the normal lever that came out on top, it comes out the front, parallel to the ground. You pull on it and it’s like the old school pinball machines and pulls itself back into the faucet, no water coming out of the shower head unless someone sits there and keeps it pulled open. We call the front desk staff and they say someone will come help. The wait was short at least. They sent security. I want that to sink in. The security guard took a look at our shower, turned the water to the cold setting and it turns on. Ok, fine maybe there is a magic way the water turns on. Maybe it had to first be set to cold and then the lever can be pulled and stay open. My fiancé and I get in the cold shower. We turned the water to hot and guess what? The already low water pressure turns pitiful until the shower head turned off, the water now coming out of the faucet once more. Maybe we turned the water to hot too quickly? Nope more tinkering and our shower head would not stay on unless the water was set to cold. One cold shower later and it’s close to midnight. My fiancé and I walk to the front desk this time and ask to either change rooms or get our shower fixed. Now I will say the person we spoke to was very pleasant. He said that he will get someone from the engineering staff to our room to take a look and if it can’t be fixed then to call the front desk and he will help us with a different room. We walk back to the room it’s now past midnight and the person from engineering has come to check the issue. That person said it’s a plumbing problem and we needed new rooms. He immediately called front desk to let them know and to ask for different room. I’m unsure if it was the same person we spoke to in person but he was extremely rude. He spoke to that staff member with no respect and immediately stated that there were no rooms available and we could not change. The person from engineering was very polite and apologized for the inconvenience and even asked us what time would be best for them to come so we wouldn’t be bothered. We said noon would be the best time since we would be out of the hotel enjoying our day. We go to sleep exhausted, guess who was woken up at 9 in the morning to a different person from engineering to “fix” our shower. Overall...
