Booked the party room for my daughterâs birthday. Had tried to book for my sonâs birthday back in Nov. but there was no availability then. So have been in communication with management, calling and asking questions, for 3 months. Told the manager upon booking for January 15 that we would be booking rooms third-party in order to use some accumulated travel points. Tried to book 2 rooms so all party guests cold stay the night and was told (after calling hotel directly) that only 1 room in the entire hotel was available. Upon arrival, parking lot was almost empty. Watched a mouse run in and out of the building through crowds of guests while checking in. Front desk gave a hard time about an expired drivers license. I tried to explain that my infant and I had been in and out of the hospital and unfortunately we hadnât had time to renew it yet. Staff was rude, demeaning, and lacked any empathy; cutting me off while speaking. They also stated âoh we have several rooms availableâ. When I explained I had been told otherwise, they stated, âwell you can book another room nowâ. I declined as my family had stayed home since we were told there was no room, and would come the next day for my daughters birthday party. In all my conversations with staff and management, not once was I told unregistered guests could not come to my room. Not stay, just come to room to help change the kids into swimsuits or carry belongings back. The day of the party, the manager followed my mother to my room and told her she was not allowed in the room if she was not a registered guest. He also claimed he had no knowledge that the party room had been booked by hotel guests and they âdonât typically allow thatâ. đ¤ this was untrue as he and his staff had been told during booking of the party room, when I called about a second room, and at check in. During extended discussion with the manager for clarification, he was rude, not accommodating, and belittled both myself and my husband. When party guests arrived, he continued to follow them around with no explanation as to what he was doing. This included several very small children. He could also be heard from behind the counter the duration of our stay trash talking our party guests and family members stating âthese arrogant peopleâ, and other such insults. As we were down the hall and could still hear him, it was apparent he was projecting his voice and wanted people to hear him. The behavior was both inappropriate and unprofessional. At 3pm, we had cleaned up and were exiting the party room. He stood in the doorway from 2:50 on tapping his foot and blocking the way of my mother and sister in law, who were trying to carry party supplies out of the room. All the while, complaining about how long we were taking and threatening to charge $20 for every 15 minutes we stayed past 3. He then proceeded to the pool area and told everyone a part of the birthday party that they âneed to leave nowâ. When questioned why by my husband, he YELLED âsir, we have discussed that unregistered guests cannot be hereâ. We had never once discussed in all our conversations being out of the pool area by 3; just the party room. As we were swimming with other guests who had non registered visitors swimming with them, this was confusing. When my family attempted to change their children in the changing room they had previously used, he refused entry. They were also not allowed to use our room, since they were not registered guests, and were forced to change in the lobby. I cannot express more greatly how dehumanizing it is to make parents dress their naked children in a common area in front of strangers. Not only did the manager not care, he stood behind the desk and yelled about how â these rude guests weâre making him stay lateâ. At this point, we were so appalled that we packed up our own stuff and left our room too, even though we were paid for one more day. Will never return or recommend to anyone else. Manager (Nick)...
Read moreOur recent stay at the Blossom was the worst experience we have ever had. The hotel has been under ownership of Tom Borish and the "Hospitality" General Manager Nick Trahiar for over 20 years. It has been under the Americinn and GrandStay names but most recently converted over to Blossom to give more local control of the entity. This is an honest review. I do not take the time to criticize things unnecessarily. You can review my track record for complaints-you will not find many.
My family and I arrived to find a disgusting wet make up brush on the towel rack above the toilet. There were small hairs in our bed everywhere (but the young lady behind the counter stated "we don't allow pets" which makes it even more repugnant.) There was make-up on a pillowcase. There was a gatorade cap between the bed and the nightstand. There was literally no hot water for over 1 hour because there were too many people in the hotel. There was a birthday party with pool usage to non-guests on both Friday and Saturday The front desk staff was rude. I contacted Mr. Trahair several times via email during our stay with my concerns. He eventually called me on my cellphone from a blocked caller ID. He stated that his staff offered to "make things right" however I felt the solution would be to have NONE of these things happen in the first place. CLEAN THE ROOM THE FIRST TIME. These things are DISGUSTING. We did not arrive until after the 3pm check-in period.
Mr. Trahair was obviously frustrated with some of the guests from a hockey team that made reservations without notifying the property and stated, "I am off work the weekend and you will probably see me tonight with the Sheriff's Deput to force some people to make other accomodations." I felt this was very unprofesssion. I should not be subjected to his frustations with other guests. As a matter of fact, the hospitable thing to do would be to make some effort for service recovery. He was also upset that KIDS were JUMPING into the pool. What the heck to kids do at pools? They were not diving. Nothing was unsafe. I will admit there were adults consuming beverages around the pool... I mean this is Traverse City and people are on vacation. I did not feel anyone was acting disrespectful in the pool area. All the kids were also gone by the 10pm curfew.
Let me reiterate this was WORST experience I have ever had in the existence of this Hotel Property. My family and I have stayed here many times over the years. My family and I are simple people with LOW expectations especially in the current climate of travel. We are both Frontline Emergency Room Nurses and career Healthcare workers. We understand the human element of all of this, Mr. Trahair and Mr. Borish, you should too. Mr. Trahair, you successfully made me feel like I bothered you for doing your job. You are the General Manager. Even if you were "off this weekend," you are responsible for providing the effective Leadership when difficult situations present themselves. You should not make the consumer feel belittled and that they are a bother for reaching out to you. If I acted like the way you did to me, I would...

Bc you are basically accusing me of being a liar, regarding the faucet on the bathroom tub, we will never think about coming back. Why would someone lie about the faucet being broken, making the water pressure nonexistent. I guess it fixed itself right, after we left it just magically fixed itself, or I am a liar? lol. When it comes to the bedding, weâve stayed at many hotels and resorts, your bedding is not 4 star. Maybe since it was all so brand new, as you claim, the linens should have been washed to soften them up a bit bc it felt like covering up with paper. Pillows, brand new from Walmart. I suppose beds, sheets and pillows are to each their own, maybe most people prefer stiff and uncomfortable, but we donât and it was our right to leave an honest review for other potential travelers looking for a romantic weekend away.
Also, you canât say someone is available 24/7, bc no one was available at the check out desk when I left my key on the counter when checking out. Had someone been there, these concerns would have been brought to your attention. I donât lie and I donât leave reviews that are not factual. Reading other reviews , you seem to have an anger issue when people leave negative reviews or reviews that suggest how to better your establishment, turning things around and blaming the consumer instead of taking responsibility; thatâs called, âyou need a social media person who can be professional, instead of getting offendedâ Others will see for themselves, thatâs okay.
Editing after recent stay: When you read renovated, one assumes renovated. lol. New carpet and room furniture is nice, however, the bed, pillows and sheets left a lot to be desired and we slept awful the two nights we stayed there this past weekend. The pillows seemed like $5 Walmart pillows that had been slept on a million times, mattress is most likely a budget mattress as well, the sheets and thin top blanket were so stiff they made your skin itch. The bathroom tub faucet was broken, preventing the shower from working or having enough water pressure to be able to rinse your hair, I had to bend over the tub to wash it and that isnât easy for me, a healthy individual. Did not use the pool or hot tub due to the overwhelming chlorine smell, and the jacuzzi in our room must have been chlorinated water as well bc it burned my skin bad enough that I could barely use it. We paid $310.58 for 2 nights, I did not bring this to anyoneâs attention while we were there bc there wasnât going to be an easy âfixâ for the issues and when we checked out, nobody was at the desk. I challenge the owners to sleep a few nights in these rooms before charging $300+ a night during peak season. Wish we would have taken the $310 and spent 5 nights or more in our RV. Lesson learned for next time. :)
Great stay. Rooms and hotel were clean, beds/pillows were comfortable and a good breakfast in the morning. (Definitely a fan of the cherry coffee) Walls are a little thin but it wasn't an issue at bedtime.
Didn't use the pool but it...
