My husband and I decided to stop into the bar/restaurant attached to the hotel and invited some friends to have drinks with us our last night in town, we were there for a while ordering drinks minding our own business, our friends asked for their bill to check out and our waitress brought both theirs and ours, though we didn't ask for it. The waitress then began rudely and repeatedly asking my husband why he wasn't paying it, a few minutes later he put his coat on to go have a cigarette and she ran over asking "are you going to pay your bill? Why are you putting your coat on?" She proceeded to ask her bar customer to "watch him" and look for him outside, approached me (still sitting at our table with all of our things, my husbands phone included) and said to me "I don't think he's coming back, he left and I don't see him outside, I would feel more comfortable if you would just pay your bill" That night, there were DOZENS of other people there dancing, drinking and patronizing just as we were and not a single one of them was spoken to or discriminated against the way we were. Coincidentally, my husband was the only Mexican man in the bar on this night. I payed he bill after having words with the waitress who tossed the payment book at me at the table and began to argue with me and then as we were leaving, her bar regular she had "watching him" followed us into the lobby in attempt to fight my husband. We called the hotel this morning to speak to the manager regarding this situation and despite being the victims of this horrible unnecessary incident, were met with more rude tones and told "my husband tried to fist fight the bar customer who followed him"..... I'm disgusted at the actions of the staff in this establishment, insulted would be an understatement. This type of discrimination doesn't belong anywhere, we came in dressed well and minded our own business the entire night, there was ABSOLUTELY NO REASON for anyone to make the assumption that we had any intention of walking out on our bill and for anyone to speak to their customers that way. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone...

Location was perfect for what we needed, we were in the area for the engagement of my oldest son. The beach area was very nice and well maintained, and easily accessible from the hotel. There were two areas where the hotel provided water spickets to rinses the sand off of your feet.

Front desk staff were very nice, the biggest complaint with the front desk was upon our arrival there were not enough transportation carts for luggage and coolers and when I had asked the staff if there were anymore I was told, if you wait for a little bit some may appear, not what someone wants to hear after a 6 hour drive.

Besides that incident the staff was very accommodating and friendly and went out of their way to make you feel comfortable.

The bar was great, staff was very friendly and gave great suggestions. Really good cocktails and lots of options. Wonderful friendly atmosphere.

The restaurant food was really good, high quality, and very reasonably priced, I would recommend it for a dinner option.

The Buffett breakfast was decent, for 9.99 with your stay it was acceptable. By the time I showed up for breakfast on a Sunday morning about 10:00am the options felts as if they had been sitting out for a while.

During our stay we had to switch rooms due to cost, to our surprise the first room had what appeared to be a fist mark punched into the door. I thought that this was odd as the marquee advertised “Newly Remodeled Rooms”. Besides that fact, the room had the typical amenities e.g., microwave, mini fridge, hair dryer and was very clean. The beds were surprising comfortable with really nice pillows and an ample amount of linens. Second room was equally as nice less the punch hole on the door.

I would recommend this hotel for a stay in...

Horrible hotel. Old and filthy. We only stayed because we planned on checking out of our other hotel to head to picture rocks but the weather up there was to bad and we didn't want to cut our honeymoon short. The hotel we were at (grand traverse) didn't have any vacancy and neither did other hotels in the area. So, we stayed here. Paid almost as much as we did at Grand Traverse. (Totally worth every penny for that hotel). The fireplace won't stay on with the door wall open so forget about wanting to hear the waves while enjoying a fire. The carpet hadn't been cleaned in who knows how long and despite asking for our room to be cleaned, it was only cleaned 2x in the 5 days. One day when I called to ask why it wasn't bc I had thrown our sheets down to be cleaned, they said that all the housekeeping had gone for the night and there was nothing they could do about it. I demanding someone come and change the sheets and clean the bathroom (which also hadn't been done) and they said they would get housekeeping up there for us. 🤔. Thought they had gone for the night. You can't check out early if you don't like it either. We tried. I noticed in the reviews that every time someone leaves a negative comment, management replies and apologizes then offers some lame excuse for the reason things played out the way they did and then says they hope you will give them another chance to make it right. No thanks. I wouldn't stay there if someone paid me. The one positive thing I will say is the restaurant has really good food and drinks. The bartender was exceptional there too. I would stay somewhere else but eat there one night if you have a chance. But, trust me....... You will regret your decision if you choose to...

The beach experience was the absolute best part of our stay. Our beach-front access was wonderful - we had unobstructed views of the beach and our corner patio fit 4-6 people well. The sand was groomed daily and tons of lounge chairs were available. There were a few unprofessional practices, such as giving us less of a room than what we paid for during peak season and charging the whole $100 for incidentals before we checked out for no reason; be diligent in monitoring things like this if you stay here. We liked that there was a restaurant in the building and were surprised to learn the in the off season, the buffet-style breakfast is included for free (we paid $10 each). We appreciated the daily towel and garbage service. Our extended family also stayed here and it was so nice to easily spend time together at the beach or inside at the pool or restaurant. The whole hotel needs updating and maintaining - there are so many things I wouldn't otherwise be okay with, but we spent so little time in the room that it was hard to gripe about; a few of these things included a very slow elevator with no posted way to find the stairs, poor water control in the bathrooms that led to mold and unstable drywall in the bathroom, and a very bent and hard to move patio door. All things considered, we were happy with our stay and hope our next experience here is even better next time.

Our first time in Traverse City. The hotel was nice and quiet, which we loved! The beach was well kept and the views from the room were also wonderful. We loved that the pool was heated and the hot tub was a really nice size. The pool could probably use some TLC as it is older but the kids loved. We were able to use a fire pit one night, and were also glad to be able to purchase wood right in the lobby. The restaurant was convenient and had good service. The hotel is older which is why I gave one category only 4 stars but I would still highly recommend. Only negative I have is - we were disappointed that there was not a continental breakfast. They apparently charge for breakfast only in the summer. I read all the reviews and was expecting this. Not a big deal but we had a bunch of small kids and didn’t want to sit for breakfast plus kids like the continental type stuff better anyway. There were plenty of lounge chairs at the beach and kids loved all the ducks/baby ducks they could feed and chase around. We’d def stay again.

I stayed there in May of 2022. I can’t deny that my room views were astonishing. The room was clean and it had all basic amenities needed including a small refrigerator, microwave, TV, iron, and hangers. It also has a balcony with lake views. Restroom was clean and renovated. However, they are clearly understaffed. I had an incident during my stay when someone came and started knocking hard on my door around 1 am. He kept coming back and knocking. I tried to call front desk several times, no one was picking up. I was about to call police. Next day I asked the front desk why did no one picked up? He said there is no front desk available after midnight. So basically you’re on your own after midnight there is no one available for emergencies. What a joke! Another issue is the AC. It’s too loud and old, I had to turn it off many times after I couldn’t take it no more being too loud. I think they have an excellent location and great facility. They definitely need more staff and a new management.
