I was not very happy with this hotel. However I have stayed in much worse. Just not for the price.
My family and I were going to spend some time away in Traverse City and had never been to the area. We were looking for a good place to stay, The Beach Haus had some good reviews, so we thought we would give it a shot. We reserved the “Courtyard view” room.
We got a bit turned around when arriving (my own fault, not the location of the hotel), and got to the hotel at 9:45pm only to find that the office closes at 10pm… Not sure what would have happened had we got there 30 mins later.
We checked in, and received our actual metal key for the door. Ok, I’m a fan of nostalgia. The room wasn’t terrible. Jacuzzi tub, sink and counter, fridge.
Look out the window for our “Courtyard view” (full well knowing what to expect to see based on the side of the hotel we were on when we got there) to see the parking lot and main road. Not what we were expecting when making the reservation at all.
I noticed the curtains were just draw curtains. The type you would use over your real curtains for a better visual appearance. Coming in later that night, we had left the lights on in the room, and you could see straight through them from outside.
We opened one of the drawers to find some woman’s unmentionables and clothes still inside.
There was no “do not disturb” sign in our room, we had to go to the desk and request a sign.
There was actually an envelope on the desk that requested you put a tip in there and give it to the front desk… at $250+ a night, with few amenities, tipping was unpalatable at this point.
When we left there was actually another couple that was complaining of the amount of noise that comes from the lobby as well. So we were not alone in our dissatisfaction.
We will not be staying at this hotel again. The cost of the room far outweighs the quality. For no view, and it being around an 8 minute drive to park downtown, we’re better off getting a hotel right downtown.
I will say in the good though: The hotel was very clean albeit dated, the staff was pretty friendly, the breakfast is what you would expect at any other main stream hotel. And when you did get to the beach/water side, the...
Read moreI love this place! It is right at the beach, will be returning! The hotels in TC are kinda expensive for what you get. For 500+ each night in a DT area you would get a lot better quality. Those places may not be off the lake for you to enjoy chilling in the sand so we will continue to pay what we have to to enjoy the Beach Haus! I give this place a 4 because while it is not top-notch it is clean, has good staff (special S/O to Andre 😉), provides a mic and fridge and is located off the main road with access to everything in close proximity: urgent care, pharmacy, fast food, their private beach, the State beach, a spa, THE LIQUOR STORE, boat/jet ski/parasail ALL RIGHT THERE, so many restaurant options. Oh, you gotta love the beds and pillows- GOOD SLEEP! They need to do a few things like lights on the stairs, maintaining cobweb clean up a little bit more, changing to a keycard or phone app system for entry into the rooms (you use an actual key-what year is this and they only give you one so everyone is waiting for the 1 key person 😀), they need to upgrade the TV (has no guide, they are not Smart and are simply a hard watch if you want to spend some time in your room), there needs to be shelving in the showers (not the biggest thing but a great addition for people to sit their toiletry items with multiple to a room), and while the breakfast is appreciated at 500 a night you could do better than giving adults juice boxes (in the past it was a muffin, fruit and Minute Maid but now you're just being cheap with the Suncup, they are simply nasty, we'd like a Tropicana and a banana!) Regardless, I will be back again next summer 🤣 for an even longer stay! One more thing, access to the grills without walking by/through families with first level rooms would be nice, lol, it is not the biggest deal but it is somewhat awkward! It rained and the balcony was flooded the entire time, we hardly used it so we raised no fuss but we did not notice or think I would still be wet and stepped into a huge puddle, the design or something keeps it wet like that, it would be to nice to look into how to fix that in thfuture. We didn't want to sweep water off the balcony and pontially onto someone's...
Read moreReally disappointed. Very expensive stay so one would expect an exceptional experience. My husband and I came up one day early, we were told that absolutely no early check in option was available - completely understandable considering the circumstances. No big deal. Once we finally were able to come to the hotel, the man who checked us in was incredibly nice and welcoming. The rest of our experience was less than desirable. The beach area is a complete disaster. Spider webs and gnats cover ever single inch of the chairs provided, that includes the walk out patios. It looks as if nothing has been dusted for months. A beautiful gazebo that is just above the beach was disgusting on the inside, it was covered with bird poop and more spider webs. Another sitting area outside had two fire pits available, both propane tanks were empty. My husband was finally able to get one lit at 11pm this evening and we enjoyed a glass of wine by the beach - our first pleasant outdoor experience. We were soon greeted by an irate, middle aged, male employee who yelled at us for having the fire pit turned on. He said “These are supposed to be turned off by 10pm, you need to turn it off NOW!” There was absolutely no sign stating when they had to be turned off and they hadn’t been lit since we arrived, how were we supposed to know? A simple “Hi folks, I’m sorry for the inconvenience but these can not be lit past 10pm” would have sufficed. The employee treated us like delinquent teenagers. We will NEVER return to this location. There are many other spots on the bay that are much more accommodating and clean. Shame on us for trying a new resort. Not to be over dramatic, but it really ruined our trip. We just wanted a nice location and cozy beach to relax by for a couple of days. Instead, we spent the trip swatting at bugs, walking through spider webs and being reprimanded by ornery employees. Extremely...
