"You can't please all the people all the time." Remember this when reading the negative reviews. Some people are just that way.
We stayed here for our trip to NYC and we couldn't have been more pleased. As far as our travel experience we have stayed everywhere from resorts in Florida to St. Lucia to Hawaii. We have stayed in hotels in San Francisco, Tampa, Orlando, NC, Toronto, Niagra Falls, Washington DC, Philadelphia, New Orleans, Austin, Dallas, and Boulder City. These include nice to luxury hotels.
This hotel is a very nice hotel with very nice and helpful staff who never hesitated to take time for us. They went out of their way to greet us coming and going. They asked about our day and even inquired about my daughter's foot when she had to use her crutches the second day (she had a walking boot). They have free wifi and have two computers near the lobby which are free to use, both with free printing.
The facilities are very nice and the rooms are spacious. The view of the Manhattan skyline is fantastic, especially at night. We slept 6 to our room with the hotel's knowledge and approval. Try finding a room where you can do that in the NYC area for $200 per night. The breakfast was good, not great. I have had better but really you can't complain too much (well some can). The coffee is good and strong.
Now for your travels to the city. There is a NJ transit bus (#158) that picks you up about a 1/4 mile down the road across from the CVS. It takes about 15-20 minutes to ride over to the Port Authority Transit Station on 42nd street in Manhattan. The cost is $6.40 round trip for an adult (Be sure to tell them roundtrip when you get on so they print you the return ticket). Kids 12 and under are 1/2 price on weekdays and free on the weekend. Kids 13 and up are adults for fares. It drops you off at Station 202 at the Port Authority. You use the same station to board for the return trip. The last bus departs from there at 9:40 I believe. You can actually get dropped off in front of the hotel if you hit the red stop request button after he stops by the CVS.
Plan on using the subway in the city. Quick and easy although somewhat smelly. Smartphone users can download a subway map from google play and it is very helpful. I used NYC Bus and Subway Maps (yellow and blue icon) and it was very helpful. Also grab a travel booklet from the lobby. It has a subway map in it. The subway is $2.25 per person (all ages) each way. Metro card machines are at each entrance inside. With more than 3 or 4 people have a second card as well as it will limit you on the use of one at each entrance for some reason? Know which train you need BEFORE going down into a subway entrance as they all run different routes and directions! Also check if it is an express with no stops along the way. You can get a one week pass for $30. Do the math to see if it is economical. We did not do that because of our plans but it can save you money depending on your plans.
Buy Statue of Liberty tickets online to save some time. You will want express tickets if you don't want to wait 45 minutes or so in line waiting. You can do the same for the Empire State Building but if you go early enough (by 9:30 or so?) the line isn't bad. Again, you WILL save time if you buy tickets online but the wait was only 15 minutes or so for us around 10 a.m. on a Saturday. Just search for each online and go to their official sites. There are various passes you can buy as well depending on what you are planning on doing will determine the economic value.
I would definately recommend this hotel to travelers who are looking for a great experience at a great price.
BTW, we had no trouble getting them to take our calls. We even called and asked for pointers on travel to and from the city and they were very helpful then, weeks before our stay. The staff remained that way for our...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I stayed here July 14-15th. Checking in was very simple and fast. They had home baked cookies which were very good :) The only hiccup was while booking the lady didn't know about the 2pm checkout that came with the "weekend package", but after showing her my confirmation email she changed the checkout time with no further issues. I'm very happy to say that the room we booked (1br whirlpool with NYC view) delivered. It was very clean and everything in working order... also the room was very spacious! We were very grateful at how spacious the room was. The view of Manhattan was nice. We didn't use the wifi so I can't comment. The bed was very comfortable, we both slept like babies.
The hotel offers free parking and complimentary breakfast. Both of these helped me choose this hotel along with the previous reviews on cleanliness. The business center is more like a business room with 2 computers and a printer. I didn't see the fitness center but they do offer that as well. The front desk staff was friendly enough although the one lady that checked me in seemed to have an off day but still put in the effort to be friendly.
Now be mindful if your a new couple and you book the room with the whirlpool tub be advised that there are shutters in the wall near the bed that opens to the bathroom. Although there is a door to the bathroom that you can close and lock, the shutters cannot be locked and there's no sound proofing so you can hear your roommate using the bathroom. Although my boyfriend and I been together for more than a year it was our first weekend getaway and we had a lot of laughs once we realized we couldn't shut one another completely out the bathroom.
I didn't get the chance to eat breakfast due to waking up with an upset stomach. My boyfriend just ate leftovers from PF Chang's (which was EXCELLENT if you haven't been, highly recommend, they are right down the street from the hotel). There is a little convenience store next to the front desk. There is also a CVS about a 5 mins walk from the hotel as well but I don't know if it's 24hrs. There are plenty of nearby stores within walking distance and local restaurants.
We will come back soon and will book...
Read moreThis place is absolutely amazing. Let me start with the fact that we were due to check in Thursday at 3pm but plans changed at we needed to check in wayyy before then at 2am Thursday I was worried we would be turned down or be charged an extra night. But Danny who works at the front desk made sure our room was saved and we were able to check in at 2 am. When we arrived the girl at the desk new who were and was extremely friendly and had us taken care of right away. The shuttle service is amazing it takes u to and from wherever u want in a 5mile radius. No worries for getting to the city the ferries are literally a 2 min shuttle ride there and the multiple ferries will take u to which place u need to be. Everyone we ran into at the ferries and in the city were amazing and kind i thought with a busy city it would be opposite. So we took the ferries then jumped on the 42 bus and got off at time square we were there in minutes. Everything was amazing and each time we got off the ferry the shuttle picked us up. The shuttle took us to lunch and dinners. To have such a clean and amazing hotel with full living room and kitchen , free breakfast and dinner with drinks and free shuttle service the money is well spent here and our room had amazing views out every window. The hotel was extremely quiet and parking is completely free and the hotel sits on cute shops and restaurants. It was the best vacation we had. My biggest fear was bad area and parking and both were exceeded this place is 100000% amazing I loved it. Definitely a go to place. Half the cost of nyc hotels and better staff and services :) Thanks Danny and the whole stay for a...
