This location does NOT accept SpaFinder gift cards, do not let them trick you into booking an appt then tell you they do not accept certain giftcard and will hold you hostage until you give them Another form of payment, this happened to me!
I recieved a gift card for my birthday so I called in advance to book a prenatal massage for myself and a deep tissue massage for my husband several days in advance before my scheduled appt. Immediately during my call (before booking appts), I made sure the business would accept my SpaFinder gift card, and was told they DO accept my giftcard.
Upon confirming what each massage services would entail, the prenatal massage sessions would be 1hr long, with an extra $20 package upgraded. My husband’s deep tissue massage also had an extra $20 package upgrade. I proceeded to book both services for $100 each session.
Although our appts were booked for 4pm, we arrived at 3:45pm to fill out a 2 min ppwk on their tablets. I was not brought into my massage room until 4:05pm, and the massage didn’t begin until 4:10pm and lasted 40mins. My therapist did apologized for running behind schedule due to a previous customer giving her a “hard time” and “not wanting the room”, however, I noticed she did not make up for the delayed time. My husband was call in at 4:10pm and his session also lasted about 40-45mins, not the 1hr length as advised over the phone. I assume perhaps the lady over the phone was new so she mixed up the length of each session.
Before I knew it, my massage session had concluded but I was offered to continue relaxing on the table. I immediately got dressed and checked the time. I knew the massage was short but didn’t realized my massage was only 40mins long, and it was rushed, mostly rubbing on my skin with lotion, not even oil.
Upon checkout, I was asked to provide a form of payment. I was mind boggled bc I had originally provided my full SpaFinder gift card number, PIN number , and expiration date over the phone (which was needed to make my reservation.) The store lead came out from her side closet office to reconfirm that my gift card did lot go through in the system bc it is not accepted and that I would need another form of payment. To my surprised I was told my gift card would not be accepted for today’s services, OR at any Hand & Stone locations. I had also called another hand & stone location before and was advise that my gift card would be accepted. So now I am questioning if the other location would also give me hard time during checkout. I was even told that my conversation was recorded when my appt was booked, so I told her to reply the recording bc I had clearly confirmed that I had a SpaFinder gift card to apply for the service prior to booking my appts. Of course she brushed aside my request to reply the recording. The store lead has outgrown bleeched hair, blue acrylic nails, in her mid-late 20s, and extremely rude customer service, also would not release her name. Perhaps she bluffed about having a phone recording, but she definitely tried to scam me, which she did! I waited 10min while they “tried” contacting the “store manager”. I was about to call authorities since I was practically held hostage. They had my giftcard info so I have my form of payment, but if they choose not to accept it AFTER my appt is not my problem. All hands down this may go down in history as top 3 massages. I would like to recognize Hand & Stone of Edgewater's finest as "Levi" booked by Stephanie. Levi earning this recognition as he exceeded my expectations upon double 50 min sessions back to back enhancing the overall experience. I had previously expressed dissatisfaction; initially this was taken lightly with no action taken allowing me to believe the owners could care less about losing a valued customer & revenue. I had voiced my concerns and this was immediately addressed professionally and handled to perfection by Stephanie. I have since returned and beyond impressed by level of service I have received on this visit. I left feeling rejuvenated, relaxed, happy. I am looking forward to my next appointment with Levi. Read moreI am extremely frustrated that my previous review was removed. I am sharing my honest experience here: the manager mishandled my situation terribly. Instead of resolving the issue, she laughed in my face. She had an opportunity to turn this into a positive experience for me but chose not to. I will be escalating this matter to corporate because this could have been easily avoided. I hope her manager addresses this issue because I am at a loss for words regarding the level of unprofessionalism I encountered.

I’ve had positive experiences here before, but today’s visit was disappointing due to management issues. I called for a last-minute appointment and was told to come in. I arrived, checked in, and started my facial promptly. However, despite paying for an upgrade, I felt the service didn’t reflect this. When I spoke to Melody Diaz, the manager, she seemed dismissive and mentioned that my time was “cut short,” which should have warranted a partial refund.(my time was cut short by 20-23 minutes)Instead, I was still charged for the upgrade. Melody was unhelpful and refused to provide corporate contact details, though Destiny at the front desk was supportive and provided the information. Anthony and Destiny were great, but overall, the lack of empathy and poor handling of the situation by management impacted my experience. Also having to return to the store to get a partial refund and being laughed at by Melody was unacceptable. Her lack of professionalism was disappointing, especially given her two years with the company! I made sure the staff who assisted me still received a tip, as they were accommodating despite the manager’s missteps.
