I have received the worst customer service here or none at all. Two years in a row I’ve made makeup appointments at the Edgewater location and they cancel on me the same day!! Horrible! The reason was the make up artist called out sick last min. I’m left with either doing my makeup myself which I’m not an expert, or having to look everywhere to find someone to do it that same day. Imagine the stress that puts someone when they have a special occasion to attend and they cancel on you the same day. Well, this year was no different, I gave them another chance because they’re the closest to me, so I called about two weeks ago to schedule another makeup appointment. They told me no make up artists were available but they could have my make up done with a Chanel consultant, I was not familiar with this. So I asked if they do full face makeup, the lady said yes. When I asked about the price she said all I had to do was buy 3 products from the Chanel line. I thought it was okay and I left my number and name for my appointment. Days later, I found it weird that I didn’t get a text confirmation. I decided to call them 3 days before my event to confirm my appointment was made and lucky me! no where to be found! When I explained about the Chanel consultant or specialist the lady on the phone was so rude, instead of apologizing to me for being given the wrong information she treated me like I was such a fool for believing what I was told. She said the consultants don’t do full face makeup. How Was I supposed to know that when I was told they do? She didn’t offered to at least call me if someone cancelled or didn’t even check to see if she had an opening. Instead she suggested I speak with a manager which I agreed to. She places me on hold for 8 minutes!!! and the mngr never came to the phone. After all this I would never give this place my money, there’s other ultas locations that are much more professional. I don't find that the forum is an appropriate place for grievances and, like in a court of law, I feel that all accused have a right to face their accuser. With that said, I don't think I will ever walk into an Ulta again after the experience I went through. I have been living as a Hispanic man my whole life and have faced a number of challenges, whether they be trivial or major, when it comes to my race and how people perceive me. I had come to the store as a favor for a friend who needed brushes for her salon job in the morning and wouldn't have been able to make it before closing due to the fact that she was at her second night job till 9:15PM. When I entered the Edgewater location of Ulta close to closing, a security guard who had been stationed at the front door immediately started following me. When I got to the section where the brushes were displayed, I found the right one and proceeded to walk toward the cashier. As I walked toward the front, walking next to me the whole time was the security guard. As I waited in line, he took his position at the front of the store and kept a close eye on me as I made my purchase. I decided to inform management about my experience as a way to hopefully correct the behavior so future customers do not have to subjected to such blatant profiling and the manager was sympathetic and stated that she would "have a word" with the security guard. When I came home, I checked older google reviews to see if anyone else had similar experiences at this location and I found a post that is 2 years old that relays a very similar encounter with security. So I go in ask for it and they tell me they are sold out which I kind of knew the lady that was called to the front say I have a lot to do and it’s a whole bunch of inventory being put out, now kind you there must of been at least 9 people I seen working in each aisle. So then they go on to say that the item isn’t always updated on their website but I know it was a lie because I purchased it as soon as I walked out of the store and drove all the way home 40 minutes to get there and 40 minutes back home to basically tell me my order is ready for pick up at the same location I was just prior 20 minutes before. Before I walked out i over heard the lady speak to another employee in Spanish not knowing I understand everything that was said and told me that I can only order it online to deliver at my home. And of course I walk to my car and immediately order this product that they said wasn’t available.
